  1. ...Thanks?

Didn't mean to confuse you. Your customs are some of the best I've seen, and your work has inspired some of my modest attempts at miscellaneous characters. I think my rambling was to show just how amateurish a week's worth of my own work is compared to a quick two-day project of your own is.

I do tend to ramble though. Like the time I went over to shelbyville during the war, I wore an onion on my belt....which was the style at the time...you couldn't get those white ones, you could only get those big yellow ones.................Now where was I?........oh yeah, the important thing was I was wearing an onion on my belt, which was the style at the time, you couldn't get those...

  2. How many people can say they had a quickie with Lady Death, other than our good pal antacost?

I'm in awe on how you can shell out a week, going on two weeks worth of customs and still maintain a level of perfection that far surpasses a week's worth of effort I make on a single figure. You're one of the greats that us little guys look up to here in the custom corner.

Excellent work on everything you've shown us!

  3. For those just tuning in:

It has been recently announced by sources who wish to remain annonymous that the latest Marvel Minimates are making the long trek over seas and should be arriving in some capacity soon. When asked for comment, Art Asylum and Diamond Select representatives had this to say:

    ". . ."

In other news, controversy over the blind-box debate was settled when a annonymous source claimed that there would be no blind-box release for the latest Battlestar Galactica line. Art Asylum and Diamond Select's response to this news?

    ". . ."

On a lighter note, an unnamed source placed rumor that there were plans in place for the upcoming Marvel Minimates Wave 14 and the previously discontinued Star Trek Minimates line. Though no specifics were available at press time, Art Asylum and Diamond Select did have the following comment:

    ". . ."

That's all for todays news. Stay tuned for latest development in all of your favorite minimate lines on Minimate Multiverse. Back to you in the news room, Andy. :P

  4. Destroyer isn't a bad piece of customizing work for two days. In two days, I usually scrape off everything of value off my spare parts, then slap on a crappy layer of paint. My older brother describes the process of taking a minimate that's worth money, scraping paint off of it, putting my own paint on it, and producing something that isn't worth anything.

  5. Just read the Amazing Spider-Man that comes out this week...

I recommend anyone following civil war picks it up.

Spidey doesn't get brutally raped again, like he did during the Raft break-out, does he?

  6. Hey, I wasn't trying to get you stirred up Reideen. And I can understand your point of view. I don't agree with all of AA/DST's business decisions. Speed Racer, Rocky, and Kellogg's remain a bane to my existence. But from a strictly business standpoint, no one could justify making an entire line of the countless characters from the Street Fighter games if you can't sell any of them. If the first wave can sell in some capacity, then we can see more characters. And with the wide range of characters they could choose from, its always likely that they not get everyone's favorite character in the first wave. I've seen as many Darkstalker fan's buying this line as I have SF.

I never meant to imply that you had to buy anything, I was just saying the reason you said not to buy was the reason why people should buy. Lines that make money stay around a lot longer than those that don't.

AA/DST have a ton of mistakes under their belts and at the moment they seem to be turning a corner. We're starting to see things in stores. We're finally seeing some movement on new lines like BSG and (ugh) Speed Racer. The "new" Marvel stuff is coming soon. The next few months are going to make or break things for a lot of the die-hard fans of minimates in general. Best we can do now is support them these next few months and see what lies ahead.

  7. Yeah thanks, that's the DPCI number. I should have a receipt with a couple F4 packs on it around here somewhere to compare against.

If anyone wants to see if their Targets have Minimates in the back, just punch that number into the self-scanners and it should tell you. Not all Targets have scanners have the 10-digit buttons though, but if you ask a red-shirt they should be able to look it up on their PDT hand-scanners and tell you the same info.

So, I can just walk up to someone and give them that number and they'll know right away if they have any in the back?

And has anyone else noticed just how often the red-shirts tend to die off? Maybe that's just my local Target...

  8. This is the one thing that'll keep me from buying the 4 packs at TRU. So far, we've got less than half a set of SF figs. Without Ken, Guile, Honda, Blanka, Dhalsim and Zangeif, it's just not worth it IMO. That's not even counting Balrog, Vega, and Sagat. If you're only going to do the job half way, why do it at all? With a line like this, it would have been smarter to get retailers to submit orders for the entire line, rather than just the initial wave. If that wasn't feasible, than maybe they shouldn't have gone forward with the line.

That's precisely the reason that you should buy them. It's my understanding that wave 1 didn't sell too well (mostly due to not being available anywhere, I'm sure) which is what brought the question of when wave 2 would be released. Now, we get Street Fighter 4-packs in stores. This is the final test to see if there's interest enough to keep making Street Fighter mates. If they sell well, then the line can move forward. If they don't, well, there's always Speed Racer, right?

  9. On the water is great news! Sooner then any one thinks on wave 14? Hmmm... This means 2036 insted of 2037, right?

I think news that there will be a wave 14 is sooner than some people thought. My prediction, a wave of catch up, including Thanos, Iron Fist, Power Man, and others. My hopes are on a villain heavy load though.

As for news in general, was that so hard? If someone official would have just posted that stuff over in the AA forums, maybe a lot of our fear and panic would have eased. Thanks Ady, for getting the answers we seek. Your source on the inside is much appreciated.

  10. A 45 minute drive to the nearest Target that carries minimates revealed a mixture of Fantastic Four, Blade/Punisher, and Spidey/Wolvie at the normal $5.99 price. I only grabbed one, but I'm thinking hard on going back and rescuing the rest from their retail enslavement. By buying these out, I should see the newer stuff?
