  1. Since the success of the 'Agent 88' Kickstarter campaign, I thought it would be cool to have a thread where we could post about cool projects that we've seen or are backing. I'm currently backing a number of projects but the one that I'm most excited about (and needs some help) is the Black Lotus Empire comic-book series.

Jeff Miller is the creator, writer, inker, and colorist on the series! You can see more of his work here. He's also got a great penciller named Carlos Gomez on board and you can see more of his work here.

I think Sparrow would make a pretty cool Minimate! Once I finish my Charitymates entry I might try to make a custom of her.

  2. Thanks guys! I'm just glad to have my entry in so I can finally finish my Charitymates custom!

Amazing Fujis. I love how your entry includes a picture of another entry. Brilliant!

Ivan's image was too cool not to use! And he was kind enough to let me use two images - they're the first and last pictures in the album.

Fujis - think we could borrow that bad boy for a Minimates art exhibit someday?

I was planning on sending it to you guys anyway, thanks for ruining my surprise!

  3. My official entry:

A huge THANK YOU to Zach, Esti, Ivan, and Luke for their help with this project!

  4. And I saw the newest batch of 88 and Heavy Metal promos. I'm starting to think that by the end of the Kickstarter sign-up there're going to be 88 different Minimates offered.

Luckily for Digger, BHM is probably considering actually buying the hundreds and hundreds of promos that they're offering now!

Personally, I think Digger and crew are overestimating the crossover between Minimate collectors and potential viewers of this series. Although I could be wrong, in fact, I hope I am. From the limited control art we've seen, this seems like it could be a fun line and hopefully Luke's exclusive Ninjas are generic enough that they can be used with other lines.

My question, as before, is why haven't they released any footage other than what's in the Kickstarter promo vid? It's a campaign to produce a web-series - call me crazy, but I think potential investors (other than Minimate fans) would want to see some footage from the actual show. Also, where are the investments from the cast and crew that were involved? If I was part of the project and could potentially be hired for the run of the webseries I'd be pledging some support!

  5. I think the trouble that Rob and a few of us are having is that there is no way to get all the Minimates with one pledge (at least not with the same Kickstarter account). First there was the '8 for 88', now there's one for all 10 characters, but we've just found out that Luke has pledged to carry two blanks and a ninja...which combined with the red blank gives us a total of 14 Agent 88 Minimates. So far anyway. Digger also mentioned 2 'mystery' Minimates a few pages back so I wouldn't be surprised if there were more on the way. But yes, very confusing.

And on the topic of the web series itself, I think seeing some actual footage from the show might sway some investors. If the show is in the can (minus all the post work they mention) surely they can throw together a teaser trailer?

  6. The 2 missing minimates were suppossed to be mystery figures. That should have been written in the body of copy. I'll check with my partner to see if she can unlock the art and add that in now. once buying starts kickstarter locks you out of making changes.

What I was wondering specifically is which 2 were missing from the '8 for 88' and if it was possible to pledge less than the $258 for the 'Everything Heavy Metal and Minimates' package to get all 10. It looks like it should be possible to get the '8 for 88' plus one of the $28 or $38 options to secure them all - is that correct? Or are you saying that there are in fact 12 Agent 88 Minimates plus the blank?

And here's a cool pledge tracking tool on KickTrag: Agent 88 - The Web Series

  7. you are my new found hero! I can put my few money towards ur kickstarter!

EDIT: I sent you a msg with my info and just really want to tell you how much I do appreciate this and really shows how much of a stand up guy you are!

Yeah, what a stand-up guy - he gives a Gold Vorin to the guy who begged not the first guy on the forum to back the project...

And Digger, I think a few of us are still waiting for an answer on which 8 Minimates are included in the '8 for 88'. As I said, I'm already in for that one but I'd love to know which 2 are missing so I can pledge whatever else is needed to get them.

  8. ^^^ That's correct Santos. Kickstarter is an "all or nothing" type deal. If Digger reaches or surpasses the 88K he's set then people's CC's get charged and they receive their rewards. If he doesn't reach the goal, he doesn't get any money and people don't get charged. I hope this encourages more Multiversers to contribute now because a 'wait and see' approach will insure these Minimates don't get made.
