  1. I wonder if DST QC are gearing themselves up for the deluge of complaints that they'll have about Kurt Connor's right arm being missing in every pack? That 'armless comment leads me nicely into the reason I initially didn't gel with the 6 armed Spidey . The reason was that in the picture his flesh arms aren't accompanied by flesh ball-joints which totally wrecks the whole concept. The Thing's arms are ,as blacksun1520 confirms, slip-ons & are IMO the compromise that we'll have to accept if we are ever to get an accurate Hulk. Luke's recent campaign to get DST to listen must be totally applauded ....well done Luke :D ....but there have been many of us saying the same for months . That's not a dig at Luke (no way ) but a confirmation that DST listen to the grumbles here........belatedly. As for grumbling ,Crippler rightly points out that there are some grumblers here & if I'm not wearing King Grumbler's crown I'm sure as hell after it :D ....I can't be sure of everybody else but all I know is that I whether I moan or not I still support the line & I love some of the innovations & loathe others......I think Chuck is even on record as "not liking duck feet" !

The real reason for wanting to revise my initial reaction to the pictures is that I was overly-influenced by my personal disappointment of the Lizard ...I still am & I'm even more confused now about the uniformity ,or not, of Minimates in general. I don't 'hate' the Lizard but WTF what an opportunity missed ! I could elaborate but that wouldn't really keep this topic rolling .....or should I now say hovering ...the right way .

I'll gladly accept the position of Vice Grumble. I think the disappointment stems from the fact that they sculpted the battle beast, showing us that they CAN do it, but give us a Killer Croc-esque Lizard instead. I guess they spent more time figuring out how to do a proper Thing and other pieces which led to things like Jubilee not getting sculpted goggles. But they might surprise us in the end and give us a sculpted head for Lizard, you can only learn so much from a picture. For a while now we've been getting 2-in-1 minimates. It's hard to be in DST's shoes right now because one side wants the classic Minimate style, and the other wants bulkier pieces for the bigger characters. I'm in the latter group, and I think they should have had a sculpted head for the Lizard shown first then let people find out later that he has a regular head underneath. But they've been able to cater to both like with the Hydra soldier.
  2. Whoo, don't care for the Warpath since I don't know him, Prof X looks great. Six armed Spidey is nice, I hope it comes with a spider monster head. Here's hoping for a Doppelganger and Spiral in the future. Thing looks really nice and paves the way for a good Juggernaught and Hulk. Servo-bot looks nice even though I don't really know anything about them. The variant also looks good. Lizard is disappointing.

  3. Eh, I read/watched Ranma 1/2 and Inuyasha so I figured that was enough Rumiko Takahashi I'll ever need in my life.

Preorders for Mikoto Misaka from Railgun are up!

    http://www.amiami.jp/shop/?set=english&amp.../e_display.html

You could either buy the PSP game for the figma, or you can pay the same price for the figma without the PSP game, it's your call XP

Preorders for Aya Kagura from se Kagura are up!

    http://www.amiami.jp/shop/?set=english&amp.../e_display.html

There's also a King Kazuma bunny guy figma.

  4. Damn, I wish I would have known that you liked her so I could announce when preorders were up. I don't like her very much so I didn't post her, but she is pretty popular so that's why she's kinda expensive (there are more expensive figmas so I'd say she's midrange). I've looked around some Japanese sites and you're better off paying $50 shipped. On eBay she's $47 shipped.

    I use:

    http://www.amiami.jp/shop/?set=english

    http://yokattaweb.jp/

    http://www.otacute.com/

Amiami will let you preorder without paying, and they give discounts so I prefer them the most. But some figmas are exclusive and you have to pay more from through middleman services like Yokatta, and you pay for the item upfront but pay for shipping later. Otacute is a store like amiami where you pay when it arrives, but they're also like a middleman service in that they get exclusives, except you have to pay more for them.

On canceling preorders, don't do it with Otakuza. Boss Yuhei will kidnap your toys or take a finger. Amiami will let you cancel a couple times as long as you have good reasons, but if you cancel too many they WILL blacklist you.

    Preorder for Mari Sue Makinami

    Preorder for Marisa Kirisame

I'm honestly surprised that Marisa is still in stock.

Other people like to use these sites:

http://ekizo.mandarake.co.jp/shop/en/ (some items are opened as in previously owned, so use Google translator to read the kanji for opened or sealed. Some items aren't even in English, so just do a general search of figma. Other times find the official Japanese name for what you want, like I have to use Japanese to find JoJo's Bizarre Adventure stuff)

  5. What the... It seems like there's a formula to the boxsets.

Spot #1, one of the big five: check.

Spot #2 and 3, two characters that needed to be made or updated: check.

    Spot #4, obscure costume: check.

I think they got their boxsets mixed up. Jubilee should have had more detail and Domino should have less. Bishop looks nice and the scarf makes sense painted on, it could go either way. Back to Jubilee, really should have had a sculpted visor. Rarely used Magneto costume: for the ultimate X-Men collector. Looks very good though, but I don't need it. Wolverine... Looks like too much of a reuse of Weapon X from the Wolverine Through the Ages boxset. As others have said, an updated brown Wolverine would have been better.

With the X-Force boxset coming out at the same time, I hope they go all out and do every character from the 90's X-Men cartoon.

  6. Also, anyone who's going to SDCC ought to get George Brewer on his back... on the floor ...then talk to him about the possibility of him returning to his feet...... after he has agreed to give us more DC Minimates. Depending upon the number of people who can do this may influence his decision favourably.

    I'll call in a favor...

  7. Oh, Rob.

    -> CHECK IT <-

Rob Liefeld created a number of characters in the 90’s. They all had a few things in common, they were all incapable of smiling, they all had big shoulder pads and knee pads, they all had a lot of pouches and they all had stupid names. Cable, Stryfe, Deadpool, Shatterstar, they all sound like named thrown out by 6 year olds having a one-up contest on codenames before they play “soldiers” in the backyard. The vast majority of these characters were abandoned by Liefeld after only a few appearances and other writers took over.

I disagree, I think those names are awesome. Let's see the writer of the article come up with something better.

Anyway, I can't wait for the X Force boxset. I hope Deadpool comes with another mask, and Domino comes with another head and hairpiece. If they do anymore Cables they should update the first one with shoulder straps, it's kinda disappointing that they're only printed on the front. If not, well, I can have a Hall of Cables XD

WOOT! I just realised i can FINALLY take someone (Domino) off my Top 10 most wanted signature block!

Haha, and where's Mr. Sinister? I would've bet we'd have seen him by now. Perhaps a save for AoA?

I actually hope we get this version:

    Sinister_2.jpg

Preferably without the goatee. Or with the goatee on an extra head.

Hint to DST: package with brown Wolverine.

  8. Wow, what a total

    bitch

. I'm pretty sure you have to wait seven days to file an item not received claim. Anyway, right before you leave feedback for a buyer, there's a link below it asking you if you had problems with that buyer.

    This person is ridiculous:

  9. Yeah, honestly I've always noticed that as well. I'd hate to imagine this turning into some sort of slow and steady dip in quality as a side effect of DST's big push for putting out loads of Minimate product in recent months. (There was also that thing before about certain chemicals in the plastic getting phased out for being potentially harmful to kids, though I don't know how much this applies to the early Marvel waves.)

I hope that's not the case either. They seem to be cutting corners though either to push out mates faster or save on costs. The warped feet on my First Appearance X-Men can be a mold issue or a plastic issue.

Also they are taking short cuts that make for a worse minimate overall. Some recent examples include the change on the facial detailing of Captain Britain or the lack of detailing on the 90s Jean Grey's legs and her solid blue torso piece.

Don't forget about the Spider-Man Friends and Foes boxset. And also the lack of quality control on Dark Avengers Venom (symbol has six legs) and Spider-Girl (back boobs). And Angelgate.
