  1. I'd want that Collector just because there's never ever EVER going to be another Collector figure, ever.

But yea, LEGO's proven that they can do some pretty intricate designs, so the fact that West Batman doesn't have his mask details, or that Robin doesn't remotely look like Burt Ward's Robin makes this a no go. Pretty sure these are just the minifigs from the Juniors set.

  2. Holy sheeee-it, Star-lord. Look at those space pants. Love it; between him and Winter Soldier, this is gonna be a pricey year.

Also, what the holy fucking crap is that Optimus? Is that 1/6th scale?? It's...glorious. Jesus, Hot Toys, "just when i think i'm out..."

  3. Android 18 is here and holy sweet baby Jesus, what a beauty. I'm on a nostalgia trip as the Irwin Android 18 never left my hands until she broke in two when i was a child. Beautiful figure; a *little* short, but i haven't bought into the rest of SH's DBZ line to know if she's consistent. The one face with one eye looking to the side is irritating and pointless, though. Of course now i feel like i need Krillin since i'm stuck with his accessories.

Oh well, 18 is a wonderful figure and i can't wait for 17 and 16. Really hope they get to 19, 20, and Imperfect Cell.

Oh, and Original colors Vegeta is so bought. He looks like a ton of fun.

  4. Predator stuff i've only ever had one breakage, and it was a scabbard that fell off of Big Red long after i bought him, and that was an easy fix with Loctite. Never had any problems with the rest of them, and the Dutch figures are some of the best and coolest figures i've ever owned.

Alien stuff i only have the brown Warrior so far, but i can't wait for Ripley.

At this point, i just want them to get Booker the fuck out already. I don't get the delays on that one.

  5. Korra premiere was incredible. Love the new tone and dynamic. I want Kai killed off already though; I'm all for more characters but what a little douche. The villains seem immensely cool.

So Tyrant on FX is INSANE. Tyrant may be my pick for best show of the summer. What a fucking series premiere that was, oh man. Halt and Catch Fire is slow, but it's clearly another AMC character study so i'm sticking with it for now.

  6. Star-lord looks really sharp. Nice seeing the coat closed for once. Really hope he gets a Peter Quill head. Although, at this point, we can probably expect a "Select Markets Exclusive Star-Lord/Peter Quill Two-pack Set!" like Steve or Bruce.

  7. For toys, it's important to remember retailer interest plays a huge factor. Retail balked on that Wolverine Legends wave from Hasbro when The Wolverine came out. There wasn't actual merchandise for First Class or Wolverine besides Minimates after the product for Wolverine Origins rotted on the shelves. So I have a feeling this time around there was the same issue for DOFP, which is only just getting a Legends wave this summer, of only comic looks. Hell, not even Hot Toys could make their First Class figures out, or announce DOFP ones.

FF is an interesting case, because there seems to be tons of faith in GOTG and none in FF. Granted, GOTG was further along when figures were showcased, so there's plenty of time for things to change. But the Marvel rumors don't have me confident.

  8. The rough thing there, if it's true, means no Silver Surfer or Doom indefinitely. That's insanely depressing; guess I'll have to turn to my Masterworks Surfer volumes instead. I mean, I get why they're doing it and on some level i agree with it (like i said, they've haven't really been decent since Hickman), but that doesn't make it right. They're still the First Family.

  9. It's like how the wings worked in the film. When Falcon was flying for distances, he held the grips on his wings to steer. When in close-combat, the wings lock in place and he uses his weapons (pretty sure he did this when fighting Winter Soldier on the Helicarrier). Pretty amazing that DST was able to duplicate it.

Gonna have to turn to Luke for these next pay-day, so hopefully they'll stay in stock.

  10. Carol has long hair again, thank God.

Wolverine isn't there because they're killing him off. That's been announced for a while now. Apparently he just doesn't have the selling power that he used to. (I think Zach said that too?)

The FF thing is just sad, but not unexpected. The last FF title i followed was Future Foundation, and i dropped that when it became Franklin and Friends.

  11. Ugh. I just got around to opening my Soldiers of AIM and Agents of Hydra. Red Skull was my most anticipated figure and he is terrible!

Don't get me wrong he looks fantastic, but his articulation is terrible! His shoulders are impossible to pose in any sort of realistic way and it is so frustrating.

The Hydra agent on the other hand is fantastic! I want more.

Zemo and the AIM agent are both respectable but the Hydra goon steals the series as far as I'm concerned.

You can help Skull a little bit by taking off the unnecessary shoulder holster and putting the coat back on, but yea, putting him on the Punisher/Nick Fury body was a mistake. Looks amazing, but sucks to pose.

GotG figures are showing up in stock practically everywhere online, but the item number doesn't show any at any TRU yet; open orders from DC though. Probably hitting retail in the next few weeks. What sucks is that they're on a Buy One Get On 40% Off this week for no good reason.

  12. This is the Poison Ivy i've waited my whole life for; this was the Ivy that made her my favorite comic villain. A long time coming, and the sound i made when i saw her reveal the other day was almost embarrassing.

And it's my favorite Two-face look. And Mr. Freeze look. Not to mention Batman and Catwoman. Growing up with this show, God damn is this the best toyline of the decade. I just can't wait.

With DCC's current track record of amazing figures (seriously, the quality of the Capullo figures and Forever Evil is insane. They're perfect.), these have the potential to be some of the greatest figures, well, ever. It only took 20 years.

Mini wishlist, but the shortlist for my big wants:

    Roxy Rocket

    Alfred

    Phantasm

    Grey Ghost

    TAS Ivy

    TNBA Bruce

  13. I think Cyclops was meant as a part of a variant wave from the last Wolverine wave, looks like he found a new home. I recall seeing a few selling on ebay for outrageous prices that escaped from the factory. I bet those people are going to be pissed!

Nope, that was Phoenix Five Cyclops. This is Marvel NOW! Cyclops. The one on eBay is still the only one. (Although i won't remotely be surprised if it's a swap figure for this one, given that the eBay one was an actual final product)

Really pumped for this wave. Love Cyclops, love that we're finally getting Stryfe, love that i held off on the previous Wolverines, love NOW! Storm. Not feeling Magneto, though; the Rogers body is so wrong for him. Bucky Cap would have been fine.

ANYWAY, I too hope they don't add the black to Bobby's suit; it's a much nicer classic Bobby look this way. The others it just kind of "works" for, but not him. And yea, X-23 is still in her brown/orange suit which i'd love to see in a TRU companion set. She's not necessary but we're so close to finishing the team at that point.

  14. My point is exactly what the other guys said. Characters should be exactly that: organic, story driven characters. Not a cash grab by the big 2 to try and garner some media attention. It always comes off as "We're still relevant! Oh, God we're still relevant! Please read us!"

Sometimes you'll get a writer that can make the character work. But they don't start off any less desperate. (IDW's Drift)

Batwoman being gay works though, i think. Pre-52, when DC showed her backstory regarding the military and being kicked out for being a lesbian, i think that made for a really compelling story. That felt fresh and different, as opposed to say, Alan Scott, who was "just gay because go with it." It's also not really her defining her trait, it just works with her character. Granted, when Rucka started throwing a hissy fit because DC wouldn't let him marry her off, that started to irritate me; the marriage thing felt like Rucka pandering to like-minded individuals. But everything else felt pretty natural.

    (I really like Batwoman...)

If you want a character of a new race, religion, creed, sexuality, ANYTHING, have the balls to make a brand new character. Batwoman was brilliant.

Batwoman was brilliant eventually. I love her but I'd argue the only thing new about the latest incarnation of Batwoman was that she was a lesbian. Sure, they changed the costume and tweaked her name from "Kathy" to "Kate" but if anything she was a long-awaited, post-Crisis reboot, not an all-new character.

(Of course that's all changed with the reintroduction of Kathy but still…)

Not totally "new" though; she was still a lesbian with Renee Montoya's Question in the 2006 52. I'd say a good 8 years and making it through a company reboot is pretty great for her. Granted, i never thought she was a "reboot" of the original Batwoman, like how the animated Mystery of the Batwoman one wasn't either.
