  1. They didnt have "Sum" at the book store so I ended up picking up Cormac Macathry's "The Road". WOW it is a great read so sad...anyone else read it?

  2. "The Last Olympian" by Rick Riordan

My god, I JUST bought that book today. Please tell me they end it well!

And I don't know if I've already done this one and don't feel like browsing to find out. The Bartemaeus Trilogy by Jonathan Stroud. The books are The Amulet of Samarkand, The Golem's Eye, and Ptolemy's Gate. All EXCELLENT books and some of the funniest I've read in a while. Get used to many footnotes though. Bartimaeus uses them a LOT to make some point, explain something, joke, or reference a Noodle Incident such as the "Affair of the Anarchist and the Oyster." (This one was referenced in Ptolemy's Gate. And by then and the later reference to that I REALLY wanted to know what that was. He never tells.) Great trilogy, fun character, and an overall must-read.

I read the first book in The Bartemaeus Trilogy and honestly didn't like it...it was kind of meh but I love the Percy Jackson books and mythology period! I'm picking one of those books tomorrow...I think it'll be Sum though, it seems a bit more new and a bit more interesting not that The Last Olympian seems boring it's just that I want something new so... Haha I will read the last Olympian eventually though

  3. I hope this isn't a necro but two books exist in my life that i must share...one is "Sum" by David Eagleman which explores the afterlife in 40 different ways, and the other is "The Last Olympian" by Rick Riordan which is the conclusion to the Percy Jackson Saga...both look good and especially recommend any of the "Percy Jackson" books theyre pretty well written books

  4. I hear ya TBT. With the success of Borat, one has to wonder how successful this one can be? This one might be a renter for me, but we'll see what the wife thinks. I think we can all agree that the critics are either going to pan it or kiss his ass, mainly due to Borat's success and not this movies merits though. Oh, and I love his wife too, she's gorgeous and funny lady.

At Rottentomatoes it had like 79% so its better than Borat but not by far...They say that Bruno is a more engaing character than Borat so I guess the story dynamic is the same but the characters differ? hmm I'll definatley check this movie out...and Isla Fischer is smoking more than Seth Rogen on a lazy Sunday=)

  5. I love Sacha Baron Cohen's comedy, and I know a lot of people get offended by him and his antics and I wanted to hear opinions from people on him and his films. My favorite Character that he portrays is of course Brüno! I loved that character ever since "The Ali G Show". I think he's hilariously offensive and from what I hear this movie (Brüno) is a lot better than Borat and Im looking forwrd to seeing it! What do you think about Brüno or plainly Sacha Baron Cohen for that matter...=)

  6. Im glad you found franklin i hope everything else with Lila follows in the same fashion...i had a dog but my sister found out she was allergic and we had to give him back...then he got attacked by a bigger dog and now has one eye and 3 legs...so im glad your situation turned out better than ours!-jo

  7. You will be very close to me, my friend. I live in the San Fernando Valley.

all i can think of now is "Instead, you could be living the sweet life in California's beautiful San Fernando Valley"

sorry for the derailment but it is minimate related so I stand by it. And I offer the most 'official' Marvel no-prize possible to whoever names the movie first

    GhostBusters II!!!!!!!!!!!!

  8. And yeah, Ledger may seem like an odd part of the analogy but his death pretty much shocked my generation as much as, say, River Phoenix's did in his time. People dying young isn't just tragic, but honestly it affects younger people at a level otherwise unimaginable, since the younger generations have always subscribed to this "We're young and indestructible and the world is our oyster" mentality. And yet now, the fact that so many celebrities we've "grown up with" over the years are slowly and inevitably passing on one by one is a sobering reminder that mortality is cold hard fact for all of us. (Man, I think about this stuff too much. I think I need a cold shower.)

You're not the only one who thinks about this too much. I thought the exact same thing. After all... after seeing them in so many movies or music videos or anything, it's a face you begin to recognize. And it's strange to think that it's a face that will never appear in anything new. All that is left is memories and their legacy. Their movies, their msuic, thier literature, whatever. The question is, when we die, will there be much of a legacy to remember? And I try to make sure I will not be forgotten.

And I will never forget Michael Jackson's cameo in MIB 2. I count it amongst the funniest cameos ever.

His cameo was very funny-"Can't I be 'Agent M'?"=)

But in all seriousness his death is a tragedy and he will be missed. I was listening to "BBC" last night and all night long and all throughout the morning they were playing his music and when "I'll Be There" started playing, I'll be honest, I shed a few tears for him. I think it was the fact that he never got to say goodbye to the world he loved and influenced that made me even more bummed out.

  9. I wish I was German :P Vatertag seems like a great day Bob! I Goolged 'Vatertag' & this picture caught my eye post-638-1245494000_thumb.jpg.....priceless

entertheninja ....stunning choice of movie for your dad....all time favourite of mine & a movie that explains the Middle East's mistrust for the 'West' .....even to this very day!

Finally .....I get many cards on Father's Day but always return them with the polite reply "not known at this address"

Thanks BHM it was between "Lawrence of Arabia" or "The Fifth Element" both of which I like but I made the wiser choice in the end...=) Vatertag sounds like an interesting day(holiday?) for Germans...I must try it!

  10. As we all know Fathers Day is this Sunday and is probably a big deal to most of us in the Multiverse, and I thought it would be nice to wish all of the fathers on the Multiverse a happy Fathers Day! What're are you going to do for your father this Sunday or what plans do your wives or children have for you? I got my dad a Bob Dylan compilation CD, the movie "Lawrence of Arabia" and since Coca Cola is his favorite beverage I got him a Coca Cola drinking glass. And once again I would like to wish all the fathers' a happy Fathers Day!

  11. Muse announced that their new album "The Resistance" will come out in September! Yay I'm ecstatic I love Muse! They sing good songs and sing about the truth of all the unexplainable stuff that goes on in the world. And matthew bellamy's vocals are far out. Anyone else listen to Muse? If so why do you like them and what's your favorites by them?!

  12. Captain Minimate I applaud you! Green Day's new album is anthem;my favorite tracks are "Viva La Gloria","21st Century Breakdown", and "Song of the Century". I think it might have to do with both of us being the younger ones but I still try to be open to all musical genres. And Deadpool, I respect your taste but you seriously have a Kanye West song on your list! I stopped listening to Kanye after "Graduation" where all he did was hock songs from other artists...but that's my opinion...=)

You can't knock Kanye, when Green Day is your "anthem". :yucky:

Green Day will do anything as long is it makes the popular, and sadly their targeted age group is "the kiddies", so doing anything is basically making them look like "rebellious rockers".

Unlike Green Day and many other artists, Kanye takes time to write his songs, and doesn't throw out random crap hoping to get a "radio hit".

But that's just my opinion.

AhemAhem mr Punisher I never said Green Day was my anthem, I said they were anthem, or in other words epic...I like the CD but they arent my favorites. I like The Killers and am proud to say they are my favorite band...oh and if you want to see something funny about Kanye check this out, and keep in mind discretion is advised=):

oh and NorthRaider there isnt a war its a debate

  13. Captain Minimate I applaud you! Green Day's new album is anthem;my favorite tracks are "Viva La Gloria","21st Century Breakdown", and "Song of the Century".
