  1. Well done, Sherlock! Good to hear you have those DNA analyzers down in Birmingham!

But I'm also glad you enjoy the stuff, you're very welcome! The Giantman/Antman thing: you had him as a big wish on your wants list when I was getting the stuff together and realized yesterday that you already took him off. Hope you enjoy him as well. The button: I do wear this post-mortem Comedian batch - yes, it's diy - myself and since your obviously admiring the Watchmen, I though you might like it. And for the candy, that's typical German stuff that I do love.

    Have fun!

    :D

  2. Totally amazing how everybody is participating in here! Nice, ladies(?) and gentlemen, really nice! I'll browse through all those places when I have some free time again. And for the idea with the world's map: that's a great idea to add! Does anyone know how to create that? I could then add it to the first post of this thread.

And NorthRaider, it's really sad, that the only pic Wiki displays of your city is the one with the burning avenue! Bad Wiki! ;)

Nice bands and artists, MoC! I love the way Mrs. Spektor sings. And the Sha Sha Album by Mr. Kweller was sweet as well.

And brother karamazov is into Monk, hm? (And you wanted to be minimaterized with an issue of ISQ in the other thread. You're getting more and more interesting, man!) Anyway, Monk is outstanding, no question. Even though I love Miles Davis and John Coltrane (A Love Suprem is awesome!) as well. Do you know the

? Svensson died tragically this summer, just two weeks before I'd have seen them live for a second time. The are the most groundbreaking modern jazz trio I've ever listend to!

Next to these jazzers I do love

    Sufjan Stevens

    Broken Social Scene

    Mogwai

    Godspeed You! Black Emperor

    Beirut

    Neil Young

    The go team

    The Beatles (the late stuff)

And for the classics I'll go with the orchestral works by

    Gustav Mahler

    Antonín Dvořák

Pjotr Iljitsch Tschaikowsky (you all know the unbelievable Overture 1812 from the V like Vendetta movie, don't you?)

    Edvard Grieg

    Hans Zimmer

    John Williams

    Howard Shore

  4. I was waiting for a meeting to start, sitting in a library, having pretty much time on my hands and a computer in front of me, so I started to figure out who my Secret Santa might be. I guess it's pretty hard, since I don't know who of mmmv is actually taking part in this fantastic thing. So, my only clue right now is the address label on the package which belongs to a company in the UK. I just googled the name of it and found out that it residents in Blackpool. Knowing that, the search function here didn't deliver any hit. So I googled a map of England to get to know where Blackpool is. (Nice seaside place, whoever you are! Doing this, I came up with another idea on which you might participate here, if you like to.) I'm sticking to the idea that my Secret Santa does work in Blackpool - and he's not a tricky little bast, em, Santa, setting me on the wrong track here - , but doesn't have to live there. So I checked which cities are close to Blackpool and came up with a few ones. Following these empirical results and acting upon this cogent theory, keeping the quote "I'll go with Liverpool most ppl know where that is" in mind, the only possible suggestion for my Secret Santa might be MiniFiend UK! Thank you very much!

BUT: If you give a crap about all that weired empirical mathematical science calculus stuff, you might just accidentally stumble across another member during your whole research and get to know, that he actually is from Blackpool and did comment on my strange German do-not-touch-that-until-christmas-behavior. So my official guess is: gledzee! Thank you very much, even if I didn't open your gift, yet!

  5. Having too much free time on my hands lets me sometimes do nice stuff, sometimes nerdy thinking and somtimes stuff like this:

This forum is one of the most familial, cozy, interactive and nicest ones I've ever been to. Besides being able to talk about our all time favorite mates and plenty of other stuff, it's nice to talk to - at least :P - most of it's members. And since we're from a whole bunch of different and foreign countries and cities, I'd love to get to know those places! At least via Wikipedia. So, if you want to join the MMMV Geographics™, just add - if there is one - a wiki-link to your hometown, so everybody can see.

    I'll start this thing up:

    I'm from Kassel, Germany.

  6. You're right MiniFiend, the hairpiece and the suit are just perfect. But I'd do a decal for the face and use that sunglasses one of the minimates comes with as accessory. I don't know who it is, but I'm pretty sure I saw it when browsing through the database site...

    ____

Edit: Ah, just remembered: Season 2 Jack Bauer.

  7. Yes, I see that, too, Minifiend. Thre is no real need for those mates in my opinion, beeing not a hardcore collector. Movie mates of comic characters aren't such a big win anyhow. I do like the movie IM, but I don't really care about the others DST produced. And especially in context of waves 25 and 26 there is no real need to produce them more Wolverines and Saberteeth.

  8. Maybe some local cultural items instead of more minimates? Quick customs are also good.

a bunch of Reece's Peanut Butter cups

These are perfect ideas in my opinion. I do love stuff from different countries and cultures and especially foreign candy bars! But of course, I already have my secret santa's gift, and it's still lying here untouched waiting for christmas. That's not because I'm not really interested in it, but because I'm "from Germany".

  9. I am surprised that you actually flesh coloured the decal I thought I would have been easier to use a clear design and use the existing minimate flesh tone show through.

    This surprised me as well!

I have tried that before, and then you don't get the white of the eyes unless you have a special printer than can print white ink. In theory you could paint two white dots on a minimate head, and wrap the clear decal so that the eyes fall on the white spots, but you would probably go through 50 decals before you got it just perfect.

I don't have such a special printer as well, and was facing exactly that problem while preparing the decals for my Dr. Manhattan. (Wow, self-marketing!) I used a translucent mate, so I needed to find a way to solve this problem. The way it turned out to be quite easy was to attach the face decal - which turned out to be not as hard as I thought - and then painting the two dots for the eyes on top of the decal. (This was the moment I realized, that the mates are really, really, really tiny fellows!) After that, I attached another decal with Jon's eyes on top of the painted one, so that the outlines came out - compared to my skills - pretty well after all.

Oh, and by the way, I do love your signature pic with the changing motives! And I do love to play with your "wonkies" as well. :D

  10. OK, since Watchmen is one of my all time favorite narrations, I'd love to minimaterize its characters.

    Dr. Manhattan

Jon Osterman as Dr. Manhattan is for sure the easiest one, so I started with him. I used the translucent blue SDCC 08 blank mate an some decals for his face and chest. The black suit in the second pic belongs to Movie Tony Stark.

    DrManhattan.jpg

This is the regular Dr. Manhattan without wearing any pants, like he usually does.

    DrManhattan-Suit.jpg

Dr. Manhattan as he appeared in the talkshow on TV.

    DrManhattan-Mars.jpg

And finally on Mars with the photograph in his hand. This is actually one of my favorite chapters in Watchmen, because the way Moore allows the reader to participate in Jon's way of seeing things is truly amazing!

  11. Hi and thanks for stopping by!

I don't have enough free time on my hands to do as much customs as I'd like to, but I'll list up what I produce now and then in here. So have fun and please feel free to comment, criticize or even praise me to the skies!

  12. Let's play a game of self-reference:

Woohoo, my present did already arrive here today! But of course, it won't be touched till christmas eve. (In Germany, we use to get our presents in the evening of 24th, not in the morning!)

Hey, it's not like you won't get them - as in your 100$ bill analogy! Be glad to have such a lovely and caring mum and, well, yeah, read a book. Funny thing with books is, you may read them twice. Or three times!

  13. In general, I don't think that beeing treated unfair is something that makes fun. In general, the game is unfair to everybody, so the first assumption is worthless. In general I don't really enjoy plattformers.

I did reach the first checkpoint after dying 9 times. This, in general, would stop me from wanting to play it again.

BUT: this game is fun! I like the evil humor!
