  1. so I was thinking about who else could be produced under just the Clerks and JaSBSB banners and which could be a "backdoor" from other View Askew movies, this is what I came up with.

from Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back (also in)

Jason Lee/Brodie Bruce & Banky "f*cking" Edwards (Mallrats, Chasing Amy, Dogma & Clerks II - albeit w/ a beard)

Ben Affleck/Holden McNeil & Himself (Mallrats, Chasing Amy, Dogma, Clerks II)

    Matt Damon/Himself (Chasing Amy, Dogma)

    George Carlin/Hitchhiker (Dogma)

    Shannon Doherty/Herself (Mallrats)

    Jennifer Smith/Missy (Clerks II)

    Renee Humphery/Tricia Jones (Mallrats)

Joey Lauren Adams/Alyssa Jones (Mallrats & Chasing Amy)

    Dwight Ewell/Hooper X (Chasing Amy)

    Alanis Morissette/God (Dogma)

Scott Mosier/Willam Black (Mallrats,Chasing Amy, Dogma & Clerks II)

    Bryan Johnson/Steve-Dave (Mallrats)

    Walt Flanagan/Fanboy (Chasing Amy)

from Jay and Silent Bob Stike Back only

    Eliza Dushku/Sissy

    Ali Larter/Chrissy

    Sean William Scott/Brent

    Judd Nelson/the Sheriff

    Carrie Fisher/Nun

    Tracy Morgan/Pumpkin Escobar

    Jamie Kennedy/Chaka's PA

    Diedrich Bader/Miramax Security

    Jon Stewart/Reg Hartner

    Jules Asner/Herself

    James Van Der Beek/Himself

    Jason Biggs/Himself

    Wes Craven/Himself

Morris Day and the Time/Himself and Themselves

Joe Quesada (yes, that Joe Quesada)/Pizza Guy

    from Clerks only

    Veronica

    Caitlin Bree

    Rick Derris

    Olaf (the Russian Metalhead)

which ones would you most like to see?

  2. ok, maybe i'm jumping to conclusions. i did work nights there for a couple years so I sometimes base assumptions on people that i worked with, and that's not necessarily a good thing. laugh.png

but i did just get off the phone with a very nice employee who is now holding a Mysterio and a Ronan pack for me. hoping to find Vision/Quicksilver hiding somewhere once I poke around.

  3. FYI, toysrus.com is a separate entity from TRU. Just because one has something doesn't mean the other does.

all joking aside, someone needs to tell this to the employees at TRU. whenever I go to customer service and ask them about a product, they go straight to TRU.com and look it up. rolleyes.gif

  4. would it be too much to hope that Sesame Street could fall under this umbrella too? that would be the icing on this cake of awesome.

That's a different license. Disney has nothing to do with Sesame Street.

my bad, didn't realize they were separate. guess I'm still livin' in the 70's when a Muppet was a Muppet, regardless of what show it was on. Is that why Palisades had to be so episode specific with Koozebane Kermit? I knew there was a reason he couldn't have a hat, maybe something about it resembling his appearance on Sesame Street.

I guess it'd still be possible for Minimates though, Palisades had Muppets and they were about to do Sesame Street.

  5. Doctor Who has become more embraced by US retailers in the last five years than ever. This deal with Lego – if it includes North American rights – is yet another indication of that.

However, there may be concern about saturating the market with similar product. That and I've seen the 4" figures on clearance at TRU. (I wasn't even aware TRU stocked them.)

the worst part of that is, my 2 closest TRU stores never carried them. I had to drive to one an hour away before I ever saw the 4" figures. also, the fact that TRU was charging $15 for them didn't help, the $10 clearance price wasn't much better.

Might be able to work something out with Barnes and Noble. Doctor Who is one of our most viable products in store and it sells well.

that's a very good point Trekker. B&N seems to move quite a bit of Who product and they've been stocking Minimates as well.

  6. NECRO! i know, it hurts (but see my avatar? i don't give up) no.gif

so, LEGO is doing Doctor Who now. Does this open the door a crack for Minimates? The Marvel & TMNT mates show that both companies can produce the same property. The Lego sets may be worthwhile, but even as a kid I thought the figures themselves suck donkey balls. If safety was ever an issue, that's moot now since Lego figures are smaller (and easier to swallow) than Minimates. for Heavens sake what do we have to do to get these done???

  7. I'd still like to know why K-Mart (assuming it's them it could be DST) would spend good money paying for CE safety tests to make sure they're safe to sell in Europe...... to then not sell them in Europe!, the same goes for the comic shop wave, every comic shop I've spoken to says the same thing "they're not available in the UK" who's wasting all this money safety testing these things to then not sell them in that area!!

(edit) off-topic but I wanted to address winkerbean's comment on CE marks.

First off, I'm not even remotely saying that this happens with any particular product or by any specific company.

I work as an EMC Engineer and can say with certainty, that the CE mark you see on products can be put on any product without said product having ever been tested. Yes, it can be misleading, but standards allow a company to self-certify products that are deemed as "minimal risk" by creating a Declaration of Conformity and simply affixing a CE mark to their product. There are obviously certain criteria that are supposed to be met, but this is at the discretion of the manufacturer.

Obviously, in my line of work at least, there are numerous ways around regulations as well. Sometimes products sent in for testing are "one-offs" specifically produced to pass any required tests and drastically differ from the actual final product. Which is why we document as much as we can about every product that enters the test lab, from photographs to detailed descriptions of any modifications made to the EUT during testing necessary to pass a given test. This information is all included in our test reports, but there is absolutely nothing to stop a company from reverting back to the original, failing design for mass production. Often, the only way a company is caught is if a consumer or a competing company files a complaint. Rival companies can even purchase a product off the shelf and submit it for testing themselves if they are willing to pay the cost, and since that could potentially rid them of a competitor, it happens quite a bit.

There are consequences involved; fines and imprisonment of course, but the most damaging to a company is if a given country refuses to allow the company to import their products. However, if the product is not deemed to be a serious risk to consumers, the company is given the opportunity to prove the product is in compliance before it is taken off the market. Often, a company will forgo the expense of testing until they are caught and forced to, if their product is "low-risk".

The (sad but true) moral of the story is, don't assume a product is safe just because it has a label that says it is.

  8. Blue Kraang will be out in Series 2. Didn't say where.

Two of these specialty figures will NOT be available anywhere else. Turtles will be everywhere, the way you see them here.

I'd say Bradford is one with the other being Karai or Norman. no way Casey and Splinter are excluded. I really can't see it another Kraang army builder but then again Karai will sell to kids at TRU easy.

    My guess for TRU pairings:

    Leo/Karai

    Raph/Casey

    Mikey/Splinter

    Donnie/blue Kraang

    Mutagen Donnie/blue Kraang

  9. Not sure if we'll be doing classic cartoon Turtles, but if we do I hope they look that great!

Mutagen Donatello will be in Series 2. Not at every retailer, but he will come out. We'll reveal the specialty line-up later this month.

never thought i'd say this but, fingers crossed that Mutagen Donnie is at TRU. the number of Mutagen Leo's ppl have found (2 myself) is encouraging and I really don't want to have to 'shell' out $20 on ebay for Donnie like I just did for Raph.

  10. just a thought here, but the "blue shirts" could be Agents of S.W.O.R.D. after the events of The Avengers, the "Shadow group" that launched the nuke at NYC could've created them to combat the extraterrestrial threat.

Since the higher-ups in SHIELD knew in advance (in the movies) about the existence of aliens, surely this "shadow group" knew as well and would have plans in the works. i think it could be pretty cool, especially since SHIELD might not be much of a factor for the near future.

edit: ah looking back a page or so, I see that Trekker already suggested SWORD.

  11. It was definitely a TMNT day! biggrin.png After picking up the new Nick DVD, I found a set last night in NH. Surprisingly, someone bought a full set of Turtles but left the Mutagen Leo. He was hanging out at the back of the pegs (yes there were 2 pegs for 1 case). I left Donnie/Shredder as I got them both from Kmart, who btw hasn't restocked.

Paint apps were spotty but I did ok. The April I left had eye white outside her eye lines and the Turtles were hit or miss with the chest paint but not too badly.

Hit Newbury Comics and as usual, they were pretty picked over. Only 4 left but I was able to differentiate Shredder, a Foot Soldier and 2 Aprils. Grabbed the Foot bringing my total to 4. Almost glad there were so few left, at $6.99 I might as well spend the extra $0.50 at TRU and get the extra Turtle confused.gif

Very much looking forward to wave 2. Casey, Splinter, Leatherhead, Snakeweed, Fishface and Pizzaface would be some of my most wanted and of course more Kraang along with some Turtles variations like Dimension X and Turflytle Mikey, the LARP Turtles etc.
