  1. Really looking forward to these arriving in the mail. For anyone army building the Nova Corps, drop me a line, I think I need an extra Venom for the black costume Spidey version. I may have to try and find another Superior Spidey as well, as I love the smug face they gave him, but rarely display my Spidey's without their respective masks.

  2. If you're ordering online, there are two things to consider:

    1) Use code SAVE15 to take 15% off all regularly priced items

    2) If you have a Shop Runner account, you can get free shipping. If they had advertised the 30 day free trial before I checked out, I might have done that first to save the nearly $8 shipping charge.

  3. Wow does that figure look fantastic.

I love the doc ock spidey and that is a good looking figure. smile.png

By "dad", do you mean the original Nova, Rich Rider, or is Sam Alexander's dad also in the Nova Corps? Haven't read his book yet, so I don't know. Is it any good? I'm torn: my head says Jeph Loeb yucky.gif, but my heart says Ed McGuinnesswub.png .

Sam's dad was a member of the Nova Corps. If you haven't read the series yet, it's probably one of the best titles Loeb has written in some time. Additionally, he's now off the book and Zeb Wells has taken over.

Sorry for the crappy lighting/cell phone pic, More to come later today.

EDIT: I dont have time to take a lot of pix right now but after pulling them from the trays I have to say I'm impressed with this wave, lots off detail and accessories...

oh and this was a cool surprise... I have no idea if that's the right hair piece as there were a couple in the box!

    T.

    Should he be bald?

I only say because the same hair pieces are in both the Zemo sets, suggesting an alternate human look for the Nova Corpse.

    Thanks for posting!

So, this is a Nova figure after the Annihilation series? smile.png

    It is from before.

Not sure which was worse the really bad pun or you missing it totally...

    T.

I admit, it was pretty cheesy, I just couldn't resist. :)

Great pics TBT. Thanks for sharing. Can't wait to get my mates in the mail!

  6. Honestly, I would really love those spider legs on SpOck. Hell, I'd probably (fail badly) would make those legs.

I would really like a current Spider man wave, if we weren't already getting the new costume.

    SpOck/ Hobgoblin (Urich)

    Superior Carnage/The Wizard

    Scarlet Spider/ SpOck Minion

Ben Reilly Hoodied Spider/ SpOck Minion.

Replace the Wizard with either Thunderbolts Flash Venom, Boomerang or the new Beetle, and I'm in. I definitely love the idea of minion army builders.

  7. I just saw issue 15, and would love it if somehow, someway, a set of the extra spider legs came with the new costume in TRU wave 17. Seemed from the samples shown at CC that the wave might already be produced, but it would be awesome.

We really need a like button for posts like these. :)

If you haven't already, you may want to seek out Superior Spidey Team Up and Scarlet Spider as there is a Kaine/SpOck crossover. Scarlet Spider is one of my favorite books on the stands today, so I'm looking forward to this encounter between the two.

  8. Possibly spoiler-riffic. So if you're reading trades look away... NOW!

Has anyone seen an explanation anywhere for why Superior Spidey's suit is slowly morphing into a version of Miles Morales's suit?

I'm sure it's out there somewhere, but Slott's not mentioned it on his twitter feed. Loved seeing the return of the tentacles in last weeks ish.

Had to be done really, didn't it.

In the last page of issue 13 he orders some minions and when asked if he'd like a new suit he replies yes. The suit is heavily inspired from Alex Ross's design so i wouldn't say it has anything to do with Miles. Some changes for both Miles and strangely for Peter will occur in issue 200 of ultimate spider-man so we'll have to wait and see. there's also the arms of the octopus mini series in which doc ock somehow returns so i bet we'll get a new twist.

So is Peter back in Ultimate Spiderman? I thought he was dead? This is why I feel like I can't start reading comics again. I have no idea of what is going on.

He is dead but maybe it will have something to do with 616 Peter. After AOU the timelines and universes got messed up so it wouldn't be too far out of the question.

There is no f#%*#&^ way I'll ever get caught up now.

If you haven't already, you might want to consider reading the Spider-Men mini from last (?) summer. In it, Miles meets Peter from the 616 universe. At the end of the series, Peter looks up Miles Morales online. We see a shocked face, but the big reveal has yet to be made. With everything happening in the Ultimate Universe (Hunger, etc), I wouldn't be surprised to see another crossover sometime soon, be it in Spider-Men 2 or another title.

As for the costume, I definitely see the Alex Ross design with some elements of the Ben Reilly Spidey suit. However, I can certainly see how someone would think of this as the inverse of the Miles costume. Here are a few pics to take a look at from Alex Ross's original designs (you may have to click on the image links on the left).

Here's also a really nice costume statue that someone did a few years ago that I stumbled across while looking for the Alex Ross images. Now, I would really like to add this to my Spidey statue collection :)

  9. I'm loving this new direction. After OMD, I dropped the adventures of the devil-dealing Spider-Man. I just couldn't relate to a character that preached, Great Power and Great Responsibilty, only to make a deal that flew in the face of everything he stood for. With that said, I have read a few issues and wound up picking ASM #700. The ending was unexpected and really set up Ock with a new mission - become Superior, not just as Spidey but as Peter Parker. Perhaps I'm in the minority, but I never thought Ock intended to be "evil", he just let his arrogance get in the way. Once his body became fused to his extra arms, we saw the mental breakdown of a genuis, someone that knew that had wasted their sole opportunity to do good and wouldn't get another chance because of the miscalculation he had made.

The ability to transfer minds gave him back his youth and a better body to accomplish his goals. I hope that this story allows for the humanization of Doc Ock a little and that he begins to learn about the role Great Power and Great Responsibiltiy has to play in his personal and superhero life. I have really enjoyed the changes he's made to be more efficient and look forward to seeing the new spider-legs incorporated into his costume. Here's hoping that Spidey-Ock sticks around for a long time.

  10. Really liking the Superior Spidey suit and the mate looks fantastic. Will definitely need to pick up Spidey, Nova and Venom out of this wave. Still need a Scarlet Spider mate though.....

  11. I still don't understand how Venom can have red and not white...

    Duh, he joined the "Wolfpack"

    uitTz7z.jpg

Fantastic. Can I demand a Randy Savage mate be included with this set?

Im still trying to understand why Scarlet Spider didnt make this team....hes also a villain turned hero and he even has red in the name tongue.png

I think it's safe to say that the Scarlet Spider is still a fairly unknown quantity at this point in time. In fact, Venom just came to be aware of him during the Minimum Carnage crossover. Definitely worth a read if you haven't done so yet.

  12. I collected the Playmates Star Trek figures from the late 90's and have almost all of them. I am missing the elusive 1701 figures from the original release. I did buy the box set of them when they reissued them with out the foot numbering system, but not the same. I also I am missing the Data in red command uniform, and TNG Thomas Riker in packaging (I do have a loose one I got at a garage sale for $2 with all accessories.) Then there is the Transporter series Deanna Troi and Reginald Barclay that were announced but I don't think ever got released other than prototype form. I was able to get the Special Convention figures of Sulu and Scotty from the second TOS pilot "Where No Man Has Gone Before". I did get the European card versions of Dr. Crusher and Seven of Nine. Other than the 1701 figures and Data and T. Riker, I have them all.

I also collected the AA/DST 7" Star Trek figures. I had all of them at first then they got so very hard to find so I gave up on them. I am missing Worf & Gowron 2 pack, Spock & Kirk from ST4 2pack and Romulan Kirk and the Romulan solider. I am missing Captian Picard in command Chair and the Kirk and Pike in Command chairs. But I just lost interest in them when they got so exclusive and elusive and made in such small quantities.

As for Minimates, I have all the Star Trek minimates released for retail at this time with my Holy Grail being Elf Spock which I only have the one. I typically try to get at least two of each if not more. I preordered the custom case from Luke for the LCS Legacy custom case now I just have to be sure to get the TRU release for at least three sets as I need to customize for other characters.

I recently re-discovered my TNG collection and remembered how fun it was to try and find some of the more rare figures in this set. This was the first line I actively collected after I started earning some extra spending money and I have pictures of at least one birthday and Christmas that was almost completely dominated by TNG figures and accessories. Shame that the line never caught on the way it could have. Here's hoping the minimate expansion helps full support a Star Trek resurgence in the action figure domain.
