  1. so i got bored a few months ago after wave 60 and came up with this plan for star trek minimates. I tried to get a theme and always have captains included cause lets be honest no matter what they do we're always gonna get more captains. they're the anchors of waves for a lot of people like rick and michone in the TWD line or wolverine and spidey so they need to be in.

started with dividing it into series and then similar uniforms. Always was thinking about new sculpts etc and didn't load up one wave with to many new sculpts. Klingon heads would probably be similar to predator, have one and reuse it with different face tampos. same with ferengi. where it says TOS, TNG, DS9/Voyager, First Contact etc is the style of unifroms in that wave. apart from Pulaski is the generations wave, she'd have the TNG style i just couldn't fit her in any place else. list at the bottom is other characters i still haven't found a place for

  2. Never been happy with any of the brown suit wolverines we've had. I liked the look of the TRU9 one but the quality of that figure is low, I've always thought the wave 8 gaijin wolverine was way ahead of its time when it came to detailing on minimates but the hands, boots and mask are dated, so decided to kit bash the two together, didn't have the more modern mask with the right colours just yet though

  3. Been putting together this as a little project for a few weeks. A multi level, kinda modular hall of armour for minimate releases of armors based on comics. I built a prototype of the two styles with pieces I had in hand and based on the SY hall of armour releases.

I counted 25 minimates, armors that have been released multiple time (wave25, classic heroic age, bestof1) with slight variations in colour, (stealth ones are counted as separate armours) or brand new versions of the same armour (the 5 extremis armours). I picked my personal favourite of each armour as the one to be displayed.

I also decided to include space for 5 other armours that I want displayed. (War machine 1+2, Iron Spider, rescue and iron patriot)

This will leave 1 larger pod for any future release and a couple of normal pods for future releases like 2099 etc it can easily be expanded out or up with the right pieces.

Will be spending the money in the near future to stock pile all the pieces to actually build it in the real world. Hope to have the hall of armour and a lab/workshop area built to display as many iron man minimates as possible.

  4. I'm in the process of taking down my Star Wars display so I can finally showcase my Minimates.

    My concerns are:

    - I don't want it to be a chore to dust them.

    - I need to keep track of the accessories.

    - It can't take up a lot of space.

Ideally, I'd have a wall of nothing but shallow glass shelving with sliding glass doors to cover it. That way I don't have to worry about lighting and dusting. I always thought a floor-to-ceiling display would look cool.

My problem is that my current collection room is on the top floor of my house and half the walls are angled thanks to the roof. With my son moving out, bedrooms may get jockeyed around so I might be able to get a new room with 90º walls. Then I'd just need a way to archive my accessories.

Right now I've got almost all my 'mates in Plano boxes. They're pretty nicely organized and the thought of losing track of what accessory goes with which 'mate troubles me. That's when I start thinking about flat files and just keeping my favorites on display.

    Damned OCD...

I already have a spreadsheet database done for MARVEL (inc Vs cCapcom), THE WALKING DEAD, STAR TREK AND TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES.

If you want it, it was created using the minimate database with some amendments cause of mistakes made there and includes a list of all bases and flight stands.

  5. If they did another wave of these this is whom I decided would be the best line up.

Namor - Green speedos, if they could include the bits for the black outfit that would be amazing but as this would require an entire second lower torso I can understand why it wouldn't happen.

Invisible Woman/Girl - Done as a translucent figure including 3 or 4 different hair pieces that could be used to represent Sue from different periods in FF history.

This could probably be the star of the wave as far as multiple purchases go because customisers love translucent figs and flesh body parts which this set would have in abandon

Black Panther - Done as Kirby drew him back in the day but include a civilian head, as well as gold wrist things and belt with a cape if you want to go modern

Human Torch - Basic translucent figure but with lots of flame accessories that can be attached to the body, keep the figure generic enough so it could be FF torch, Invaders torch or Toro

again a mostly black figure and a (red) translucent could appeal to customisers increasing multiple sales

Magneto - We have seen Magneto done well in the regular line so redone with a best of paint job should be a winner.

Wolverine - Brown and tan, almost the opposite to magneto we have seen this version of wolvie a few times in the regular line but each has fallen short for whatever reason so if they could nail it this would be a solid figure.

Isn't it the case that you can put the name Wolverine on any old thing and sales increase? also Magneto holds his on in public recognition so I'm sure they would do fine.

Captain Britain - Early Excalibur uniform, CB should be done as a bulky figure but with the same uniform on the under body to give the display option, as cap has been drawn pretty big at times.

Ghost Rider - Classic black leather chains and flaming skull look with maybe a couple of flame accessories.

Captain Britain actually has a fair few media appearances (Usually when something needs to be shown as a threat to the entire world, Brian will be looking concerned in front of Big Ben) also he may appeal to foreign markets, Ghost rider has had a couple of movies and has a very high visual appeal.

This is bloody brilliant and a wave I'd buy 100/10, but honestly, it's not happening. The FF are out (Chuck's said that many times in the recent AskDSTs) since Marvel has asked DST to stay away, Britain is far too unknown to be in such a wave and for some reason, GR just isn't "popular" enough to warrant a new release (but hey, Howard the Duck and Disco Dazzler are getting a 2-pack and these two are sooooo much more well-known, right?).
Aren't you The one who asks for a MK update every time a wave, Boxset, exclusive that is announced. I'd say Howard and dazzler are much more well known than MK,
