Happy Birthday Lobsterman! See ya around SDCC!
-
I've never opened an con promo baggie before but I might have to pull a Cappy and demolish the packaging to free those radioactive turtles. Zach, I'm your slave next week at SDCC! Will Work For Turtles!
-
Happy Birthday Shane! Feel free to wear those Hulk hands all day and smash everything!
-
I thought this week was a slight step up from last week, which was boring. Only thing that really stood out to me was the Zeb Coulter segment. Usually the US hero vs international monster is boring, but Zeb really got me into it and I am really looking forward to seeing how this plays out. The little Reigns/Cena interactions were great tension building moments that are subtly helping Reigns a lot. And of course seeing Sting on TV was awesome.
Oh, and has anyone eaten at Sonic yet? I always wanted to try it but there are none near me. WWE's product placement segment last night with Rose and Sandow as the bellhop made me crave Sonic!
-
No John Cena photo? I guess you cat see him.

So they fired her and then probably rehired her at a lower contract to punish her and save money. I hope this incident gives her a decent push now that people are talking about her. But they'll probably just have Santino just do a mention that Emma stole his heart. Come on kleptomaniac gimmick! I'm slowly getting more interested in the Divas division now since Paige got called up, Funkadactyls are breaking up, Alicia Fox is finally interesting, Brie's conflict with Stephanie, and AJ is back!
-
That was sad to hear when I saw the report. Without knowing what happened in the case of her arrest, it might have been just an unfortunate misunderstanding. But Superstars and Divas are held to a high standard that if you aren't a top tier talent, any negative press could be their undoing. Especially during a time of cutbacks. I have hopes that she will be back since she offered a different type of charisma in the Divas division. Hopefully she runs with this and teams with Crime Time in other promotions. Turn a negative into a positive, right?
-
I think Swagger is better suited for tag teams. I loved Zig-Swag with Vickie and the Real Americans with Cesaro. Both teams deserved a championship run before being broken up. In both those instances, the other partner showed a little more charisma and there was a mouthpiece so Swagger could just keep up. Heck, I liked the Soaring Eagle more. But on his own, he is a little lacking in personality. He's competent enough in the ring, but nothing too flashy. I like his new shirt, though. It's quirky and has some personality and helps his run as a good guy. Maybe just put him in a new 3MB with Slater? Hornswoggle can be the 3rd guy and mouthpiece. I liked the 3MB theme and hope it isn't thrown away...
Bad Influence was good. Wolves are very good in the ring but I haven't latched on to their personality yet. Too bad Motor City Machine Guns aren't around anymore. They were a team I could always watch.
-
But isn't this Jack Swagger's first run as a good guy? I don't remember a time he was good other than that one minute he walked out and tried to get sympathy. Plus, he isn't really over. Zeb and the "We The People" chant is over. But I'll get behind him since it is something different and hopefully he comes out of his comfort zone. This might be his last chance. And at least he and Cesaro can have a proper feud instead of that bad guy/bad guy/insert random good guy feud.
So what other tag teams can there be? Only other active team is R-Truth and Xavier Woods. They are filler team that gets squashed all the time by whoever needs a push. One of the Los Matadores is injured, I heard. Probably pair remaining Matador with Sin Cara? I can't think of any other viable makeshift tag teams other than Santino and Adam Rose based upon that hard iced tea ad. Ascension might get called up sooner or later, but they need a gimmick other than being a smashmouth tag team since we have one in Rowan/Harper. I actually am a little bored with them since they seem to have no gimmick anymore. Even NXTs division isn't that strong but is improving. I miss 3MB and PTP... Even Gabriel/Kidd...

So overall, that was an unexpected and very surprising night with lots of new stuff going on. Almost every segment had something interesting and ended the run of lackluster RAWs. Definitely a more memorable night than MitB.
-Swagger/Coulter turned and next American meal for Rusev.
-Barrett officially stripped and new champ via battle royal at Battleground.
-Funkadactyls probably split.
-First match that ended in commercial break/WWE App possibly ever in the Cesaro/Kingston match?
-Khali returns (okay not interesting).
-Vince returned! Except it was really Sandow...
-Miz returns as his old annoying self but more Hollywood-ized.
-Rock on WWE App promoting Hercules movie.
-Eden (Cody's wife) begins announcing on WWE App.
-Ziggler finally gets a feud and possible girl in Summer Rae.
SURPRISE1:
Jericho returns!
SURPRISE2:
Wyatts attack Jericho!!
SURPRISE3:
AJ Lee returns and wins Divas title!!! And possible double turn...?
-And the obligatory CM Punk chants, Cena being put in an unwinnable PPV match, and false cash-in.
-
Kofi almost getting the briefcase got me out of my seat and I believed it for a second. But yeah, that match was mainly about Ambrose and Rollins. Too bad Barrett wasn't in the match. He was the only other person outside of Rollins and Ambrose who had some sort of momentum. And I liked both tag matches. Anyone else notice there was 2 of each match last night? Singles, tag, divas, MitB. I wouldn't have noticed if not for 2 Divas matches on a PPV, which is rare.
So, who thought of Bo Dallas's nickname during the pre-show? Bo-ner...
-
Yeah no big surprises, but the MitB matches were decent enough. Each match had its moments. I believed Ambrose's injury at first, but now not so sure. He sold it well and I thought it was a jab at Barrett's shoulder injury. Orton, I didn't believe his injury at first until I saw the blood coming out. Glad he was able to finish the match okay enough.

Summer what? Excuse me but I'm still mourning the loss of Vicky. That was a heck of a start to Raw instead of a generic "you're fired" segment. I really got behind her in that moment. And it was nice she finally came out to Eddie's old music. Not too happy about the mud thing, but at least she went out with a bang.

So when are the exclusives, programming, and exhibitors for the Lake Minimate Convention going to be announced? Maybe Luke will have a booth with a show exclusive?
Let's see what possible programming there might be.
State of Minimates, with DSTZach
Smash History of Minimate Hulk, with Shanester
Pub Crawls, with TBT
Eating Hats, with AdyCarter
Bird Watching Spotlight on Herons, with BirdsHeadsMate
Bronies Unite, with TM2 Dinobot
And please do a before and after cabin pics!
-
So my power went out after Vicky got puked on and it didn't come back on until... Stardust! I didn't see most of the match so I can't comment on how Cody is playing him, but I was a happy camper that the power came back on just in time. I guess no explanation but Ambrose and Reigns are going their separate ways. A little odd at first, unless I missed it somewhere.
I'm still a little sad about the releases. I kept thinking the Authority was going to award JTG the WWE championship the entire time during the opening segment. Plus, 3MB were entertaining. Heath Slater seemed naked without them.
-
Sin Cara? That kind of rhymes with John Cena. I mean, his masks will sell a lot more if he's champ! And WWE wants a champ that pushes merchandise to little kids! Sin Cara somehow improved his in ring skills and seems to be a whole new person so why not push him to the moon? I do like the idea of Carlos Pena, though. That'd be a "Big Time Rush" if he wins.
Yeah, I knew you were kidding with Del Rio. But I wasn't in saying that I kind of like him. Sure, he's filler, and well, any champ now is filler until DB comes back or Cena regains the title anyway... I still think Orton is the safe choice.
-
Well... I actually don't mind Del Rio being champ. I actually like him (except his run as a good guy). He's really got nothing to do nowadays so being a transitional champ isn't too bad. Either him or Bray Wyatt to further escalate his feud with Cena and "infecting" the universe.
-
I'm totally cool with him taking lots of time off. Heck it gives us time to palate cleanse after that lackluster post-WM Kane feud. I feel like this real life medical situation is putting him in a better spot than his storyline with Kane.
So maybe 2 MitB ladder matches? One for championship and one for briefcase? I like the idea of having 2 MitB ladder matches on the PPV. At least one of them will probably be good. I feel like a hypocrite saying that since MitB ladder matches are brutal and the superstars can end up injured like Bryan... Yeah, injuries suck, but it is always interesting to see who else steps up. You know, other than John Cena.
-
Ah yes, the Cena promo where he made fun of Steph's boobs. I remember that now. I thought that was one of his more entertaining promos that made me remember how good he is. I also kind of thought that Cody might be the next member of Evolution after Bluetista quit again. Either that or Cody will eventually wear face paint and become Silverdust or something.
I hope Seth faces a healthy Bryan. That's be a great feud. But Evolution had 4 members. Ambrose could still defect so then you have Reigns fighting the Authority with Bryan and probably Cena.
Summerslam:
Rollins vs Bryan, Cena vs Ambrose, Reigns vs HHH, and Orton as support.

The earthquake was a minor one, a 2.7 I think. Felt like a quick explosion from the next house or something. Apparently there was another one earlier in the evening but I didn't feel it. Plus, you get used to them in California so I didn't think much of it and was watching Rollins beat his "brothers". My initial thought was damn, everyone must be shocked, haha.
Even though I didn't want it to happen, what is next for the Shield after a program with the Authority/HHH/Evolution? It's good that the Shield didn't overstay, I guess... And it now feels like Evolution is living up to its name. HHH = past, Orton = present, Rollins = future. Sucks we have to wait for next week for it to develop more. Other than Rusev getting a gold star (pointless segment), I don't remember much else last night, haha.
-
Right after that incident, there literally was an earthquake in my area. Felt appropriate.
-
You guys forgot one more match prediction. The husband vs wife one. Daniel Bryan surrendering his championship vs Brie Bella's career. Does anyone else see Brie giving up her career and save her husband from making the choice himself? I'm hoping for a different swerve, even Bryan surrendering would shock me. But Brie is my favorite Bella after watching Total Divas. So I'm going to miss her if she is "fired".
-
Haven't had time to watch Takeover yet, but you just had to know it is going to be better than Payback. Plus, Tyler Breeze is on the card so it automatically gets a thumbs up from me.
The Menagerie, it's interesting, but my main problem with it is the leader, Knux/Mike Knox. It doesn't feel like he's the "ringleader" of the group to me. I'm just waiting for them to go all-out Wyatt-like and be creepy. Then have 3 guys show up dressed like soldiers and dominate the roster in the name of avenging all wrongs. Although, I do like Eric Young as champ so far even though there are Daniel Bryan parallels.
-
After Bo's Raw and Smackdown debuts, one thing I look forward to now is to see where his hair gets stuck on his face when he walks to the ring and does a promo. I keep waiting for him to fix it, but he doesn't! Haha. Yeah, I know you should just keep going with it, but he needs good Titantron videos with his hair not in his face! Gimmick is okay and I'm an NXT Boliever. But in the big leagues, let's see how he meshes in a couple of decent feuds first. NXT gimmicks don't feel like they translate well in the main roster. The NXT universe has that hot crowd feel that makes everything better. I mean, they made me believe in Yoshi Tatsu for a minute!Minifiend, unless someone else can help quicker, I have a friend who lives in Japan who I see whenever he visits the US for work or holidays. I can PM you when I next know and see if he can help. Then I can ship it over to you. Might be a long while, though...But yeah, I've flipped through Japanese wrestling when I visited overseas for family vacations. Very odd that it is silent a lot, the commentary and audience. But on the flip side, I'm sure they'd really hate Michael Cole if they watch RAW.
