  1. I'm from Southern California. I only collect Minimates, all of them lol . . . I'm an artist an I'm creating a wall of 'Mates in my studio, I love looking at them while I work

I would really, really like to see some pictures of that studio if you don't mind sharing.

  2. something different. Marvel just pumps figs out so fast I really don't bother with customs any more , well I've done a lot of Star Trek customs. Most aren't worth posting but these were.

It wasn't the greatest skit classic SNL ever did but I give you "the last voyage of the starship Enterprise" Spevy is a simple head swap with a modified Spock hair piece, Dr. McAkroyd is just a quick head swap and Capt. Kirklushi is another head swap on a modified doc ock body. the NBC network exec and property master aren't really spot on but they were also just cobbled together for fun out of the parts box. Obviously this was for giggles but its made me laugh so much sitting on my desk I thought the multiverse might enjoy them as well..

  3. I agree. If you can find one the WALTER SIMONSON THOR OMNIBUS (because it's in all-caps in my head) then pick it up. I paid $60-ish for mine and hopefully you can still find copies online. It's fantastic!

60 bucks! wow, I would wager for no more than another 15 I could track down a full run of original issues at cons from the 3 for a dollar boxes. there really is only 1 key issue in the run and thats BRB's first appearance. although if thumbing through dollar boxes isnt your cup of tea then the omnibus is prolly the way to go. it is a very good run but the best bit is really the first story arc it is clearly more thought out and scripted much better than the rest of the run. (Walt if your reading this I do love the whole thing but the first 20 issues or so is my favorite bit)

  4. man that RR seems totally possible with very few new parts. for a start I havent looked real close but one of those RGB figs, boogeyman maybe, has some leg sculpt that might be useable. or at least evidence it could be done

this in turn leads me to a train of thought that says a Howard the duck 'mate would not exceed the "2 inch" restriction. just sayin', Howard/Man-thing 2 pack = WIN!

  5. That hair piece is perfect for a Red Ghost. But the custom I keep seeing is the fella with the death orb from Phantasm

you old timers know what I'm talking about ;)

side note, Punisher, your Hulk mod I'm guessing you just swapped the whole arm peg from torso to torso and the arm works like a normal 'mate arm. Can you put me in the know so I can steal that mod for my collection?

  6. I have a question about printing:

When Kang is made, will his head be totally sculpted or will he have a purple slip-on mask to go over the blue face?

    :teehee:

Oh wow I LOL'ed so hard I scared the cats.

But seriously make with Kang already ;)

  7. Hmm, as far as favorites go my first love is the marvel stuff (love ALL of it) but my personal favorites are the classic Battlestar Galactica sets both of these were killer both the Colonial and Cylon packs were great and honestly I am real sorry I didn't buy a few extra Colonial sets so I could do some army building. I also love the classic Star Trek stuff (I've gone way over board with army building these making random crew members) an Star Trek Aliens box set out of nowhere would be most welcome to this area of my collection (just sayin')as for favorites its a toss up between classic Cylons and the 3 inch Mugato

  8. I agree, Dr. Strange it is. He did win best minimate of 2007 and still holds up today. Speaking of which Zach, when does DST plan on making Dr. Strange in his astral form?

id just like to echo this and point out that DST has the perfect oppurtunity to make a strange wave, having doc's modern look with a mindless one army builder and his astral form as a variant :D

But that's not a whole wave! For that you'd need:

Clea/Black Knight (he appeared in several issues of Doc's book)

Doctor Vodoo (the new Sorcerer Supreme)/Baron Mordu

By the way, anyone that likes comics should go track down Roger Stern's run on Dr. Strange, from (I believe) issues 48-73. STUNNING comics, including artwork by the likes of Marshall Rogers and Paul Smith.

I have to agree Dr Strange is a pretty terrific and well executed mate. Hellpop you couldn't be more right about those Stern issues its probably my favorite stretch of Doc books. As for the wave listed substitute Brother Voodoo for Wong and I would buy the hell out of that wave. (ok, I would buy that wave up either way)

  9. You should share that on the DST's Facebook wall. Maybe then a bunch of people (like me) could comment on how fantastic it is and that we wish DST would make one too.

That really is a professional lookin' mate you did there. Great!

I'll echo that comment, but for sure, he needs his sword and ray pistol to be complete

  10. the Defenders set is top notch all the way. One of my favorite picks is the "Marvel Heroes" set Captain America, no mods needed and a spot on rendering of the character. Check out the "Modifying Marvel Minimates" thread for lots of good ideas on "low" talent customs (low is a poor word ALL of the mods this board comes up with have been inspired and worthy of a look) for creating "definitive" versions of your favorites.
