  1. I dunno, I think MODOK could have been packed with any other character and he still would have sold.

This is surely truth. MODOK could have come packed with that crappy parker/spidey composite figure from years ago or even Riot Spidey and I would have snatched the 2 pack up with out thinking twice

  2. I clicked on this thread thinking I would have to echo sentiments of "fella if you want to keep that wife don't get her minimates for her birthday" but having seen the post I must say, well fracking done man. Really a nice portrait I can't imagine she won't be totally delighted. I wouldnt mind seeing the matte and frame job you have done

  3. Hit Schaumburg and Golf Mill IL TRU's today. Schaumburg had all 8 Daredevil/Spidey sets and none of the X sets. Golf Mill had 2 Spidey and 2 Daredevil. Both had a bunch of older crap too, naturally (Golf actually had a butt-ton of the X-Men First Class wave)...

So when I found the wave, but didn't find Magma and Mirage at the 4th TRU I've checked now I raised my hands, cursed at the sky and yelled, "Damn you BannersID!!!" (I'm just kidding. I have no idea who bought them, I just like to arbitrarily blame Banners because I know he and I shop at some of the same Toys R Useses, lol... just teasing.)

But yeah, screw all you people who say "I'm glad they labeled them exclusive so people buy them" *Shakes Fist!* (I'm kidding again. :P But yeah... frustration.)

X-Men fan... must get... new X-Men...

This made me laugh really hard.. mostly 'cause I have yet to land them for myself as well.

  4. Avengers looks all set to take down the 3 billion mark as result it sounds like studio execs are all set to push out A2 in as little as 24 months. I see it as a mistake the next sequel to this "franchise" comes out next summer with IM3 and Thor 2. I really think a very big part of the rabid success of Avengers is it had a 5 movie build up and was able to pay off BECAUSE it had those five previous films lead into it. Having another 5 solo flicks happen in the marvel studios universe that all build in the same manner as this first 5 and I think you could sell any storyline you wanted to in A2. Push it as a stand alone and introduce new heroes and bad guys at the same time and a story fit for a team? Sounds like it wall fall flat. Your thoughts? I already see some agreement on both sides

There is currently an open movie slot in the marvel stable for 2014, everyone say it with me,

Avengers Spotlight: Black Widow (I do know the rumor mill speaks of it being either Ant-Man or Dr. Strange)

I'm prolly in the huge minority, but I didn't like Norton at all. He plays too many smarmy, con man, jerk/bad guy types to have made it believable for me. Plus, Banner was supposed to be just a "regular" guy, not the guy Steve Rogers used to be (Norton just seemed waaay too skinny). Personally, I thought Tim Roth would have made a better Banner with Norton being the villain Blonsky. So, because of all this, I actually liked Ruffalo -- he also reminded me of Bixby.

Mr Bixby also nailed the concept of always having your emotions in check, always holding back the monster. I never got the feeling Norton understood that concept. I dunno how "regular" a guy Banner is most artists depict him in a rather frail manner, very thin, almost sickly in a way.

  5. I saw it on Thursday at midnight - loved it. I was riding high the entire next day, it was way too full of awesome. However, after hearing all the praise placed on Mark Ruffalo, I can't help but feel let down. The Hulk was awesome - basically perfect. But Mark Ruffalo? Meh. Not bad. Just not the awesome-sauce everybody made him out to be, y'know? I still prefer Norton. I just can't see Ruffalo holding up 3 or 4 movies by himself. His lines just seemed so... dry. He only started showing real spark those few moments Banner started getting upset.

Honestly the dryness of banner was what I really liked about ruffalos efforts. It smacked loudly of classic Hulk issues with Banner always being in a state of restraint. I liked norton visually as banner but his take on that aspect struck me as being a little to animated for that piece of the Hulk persona. Banner speaking of "Him", etc. just made for a third times a charm for a big screen Banner/Hulk.

Just to expand a little Nortons performance (not his appearance) would have made for a great Reed Richards, the kind of passionate, animated and slightly removed kind of genius reed just strikes me as, Banners persona has always struck me as more of a Sheldon type of genius, awkward, socially inept and add a real OCD thing going on when it comes to controlling his emotions. Just my 2 cents worth.

  6. I am stunned by just how much I loved this frelling movie. My hopes and expectations were set VERY high. I was not disappointed in any way shape or form, none. So much great stuff I can hardly remember all of it. Best Nerdgasam I have EVER had.

  7. Looking good, where are the effects from? Any comments on my widdle thugs and soliders? There's always room for improvement.

The energy blast effects are the tops of the punch effects from the street fighter stuff, they pop off no sweat and then just drill a hole where the peg held it in place and your done. a marvel fig came with the same attachments Hydro-Man I think. I don't remember how I came about pulling those tops off but I do recall as soon as it happened I knew what I was going to do with it.

The thugs and army buliders are all great, Silvermane looks real good from what I can see, also great use of the figure factory crates for a display, real nice re-use. If you only have the one A.I.M agent it seems mandatory you set him up with a proton pack, it was a pretty easy craft project or Janine comes with one ready to go from the real GB stuff.

  8. I've since modified that Mordo recipe with first appearance Doom's collar. Spices Mordo up a little bit more than the BSG cloak I had on him before. I just love the QC sharing that goes on around here, FUN, FUN, FUN!

That what I was planning on doing too, along with the rest of his body minus the metal bits. I'm still trying to find that solid green color for feet so I can have him in his foot-pj's look that he's usually depicted in.

I searched for quite a bit for the same PJ's look on the feet, eventually I had to tell myself it is ok as is. Early issues for the most show pj's, more current app's show both Mordo and Doc wearing slacks and shoes, so I guess if you do find green feet to match lmk. lol

  9. I used to baulk at stuff like the menagerie back in the heyday of star wars figures. After awhile of insisting on driving around for a 50 or 60 mile radius for weeks on end spending countless hours and tons of cash on gas to get a figure at "retail" I finally caved and started picking up figures (the harder to get ones) from resellers (also known as Toy Pirates) only in the rarest cases do they ever really get more than a couple bucks more than retail for a fig and in the end i don't spend 50 plus dollars in gas to find a fig at "cost". as for a cap on buying well it just seems silly in the end the most determined will find a way around and the average joe collector who may want multiples or to army build has to jump through his own hoops and hassle to do it. I guess if someone has the capital and will to have an ebay store devoted to mini-figures and wants to buy up figures from TRU it sells figs and encourages the line, that means longevity for the line, that's good. knowing someone out there has the persistence to make sure he has these items in his store for a couple bucks over retail and saves me untold hours and cash in gas also good. For the record I do frequent the Menagerie for my own collection and they have always been bar none the most dependable, consistent and professional dealings I've had on ebay. Any way if the guy wants to spend his time effort and money so he can eek out a few bucks and I don't waste my time having to hunt down my next grail more power to him.

I respect your opinion . It's odd though that the persistence that he shows doesn't extend to the Minimate shelf-warmers ....my heart is gladdened that the few bucks he eeks  from the tripling/quadrupling of the TRU exclusives' retail price doesn't bother you because it doesn't bother me either because.....

......I've got mine at retail ....I got lucky.....& it looks like you'll be getting yours your way

It must however bother those people that continually get disappointed & I'd rather discuss 'Minimates' that we all have rather than some of us have.

If however you're serious that this equates toencouraging the longevity of the Minimate line ....then one of us is deluded...... & more & more I'm guessing it's me .

lol, yes I am serious. sales translate to longevity. And without a doubt the menagerie doesn't triple their money in most cases unless product, packing , ebay and shipping are free? last time I looked packs are roughly 8 with tax, if you've ordered from that store before the shipments always come in new packing and USPS runs roughly 2 bucks for a single fig, the auction has free shipping how much could the net really be unless there is a direct vein to TRU (which I doubt anyone has) look at the feedback thread the store supports I can't be the only one who is ok with toy pirates. we all do what we must.

  10. Never mind, seller sold 2 and has 42 left. No wonder they sold out so fast on TRU.

Geesh, guys like that make me wish they had a cap on how many of one item can go to either one house hold or per credit card.

Would at least give other people a fighting chance cause I'm sure he'd use multiple cards and probably multiple mailing addresses anyway. :(

  11. Is there a way to tell how many Sentinels that Minimates Menagerie is selling? I only see "more than 10" on eBay.

I only wanted one Sentinel, dang it!

lol, it just means the store has more than ten in stock its a buy it now for a single item, or set the quantity for however many you want. at least thats how it worked last time I shopped there.
