  1. Making any of the five main characters exclusive to Toys R Us would have caused a riot.

After Ronan and the Guardians, Yondu and Nebula seem like the biggest characters, although I only skimmed the script. And blue guy went to TRU over blue girl, for the often-stated reasons. The Collector will return in future films, I think.

Gamora wouldn't have been the exclusive. The figure packaged w/her could have been perhaps.

  2. I was (hopefully) able to order the Yondu pack as well as an extra Starlord pack off TRU.com Friday night. I had to use Internet Explorer to do it though. The Yondu pack did not show as "In Stock" in Google Chrome. Neither browser showed the Drax/Groot/Rocket pack in stock.

  3. If I were a betting man, I'd say Thane & Cap received the least amount of votes w/IM & Ronan receiving the most. IF DST had every intention of releasing all 6, it would make the most sense financially to group the least requested figures w/more popular figures. Stores wouldn't move as many Thane/Cap sets as they would IM/Ronan sets. Stores don't want to be saddled w/unsold stock. Everyone might be complaining now, but a new bulked up Thanos is going to move boxests regardless of who else is in it.

This is absolutely why they've grouped them the way they did. So, why even do the "Fan Poll" in the first place? We aren't choosing who gets made; we're just helping DST figure out how to make more money from us. Just rename it the "DST Marketing Poll."

And I'm ok with this. If these polls help gauge interest to determine which groupings/pairings would be the most profitable, so be it. The more money DST/retailers make, the more viable the line becomes. If the brand becomes stale, we're not going to receive ANY new characters.

I'm all right with the turn out of the fan poll. I was planning on picking up all of these figures anyway. Maybe with Marvel's new focus on Guardians of the Galaxy we can get an updated Nova Prime Richard Rider.

I buy everything Marvel regardless of how they are paired. Complaining about how a boxset doesn't contain the EXACT line-up you voted for is silly. We're all adults. We should realize that we don't always get our way in life.

The amount of negativity I'm seeing towards the only 100% new character in this set is baffling to me.

If the set was Thanos (or Ronan), Hulk, IM, & Cap, people would still bitch because people would have to buy 3 existing characters to get 1 new character. You're damned if you do, you're damned if you don't.

  4. If I were a betting man, I'd say Thane & Cap received the least amount of votes w/IM & Ronan receiving the most. 5. The last time we received NOW versions of major characters we didn't get any minor characters in the mix so I don't feel too optimistic about that changing with this batch. And what an underwhelming set of costumes. Falcon Cap in particular is a pretty awful mishmash of at least three different designs.

I really dig Falcon Cap. The female Thor is a terrible design. Especially after seeing the wonderful Batgirl redesign DC has lined up.

  6. I bought mine off ebay last year during SDCC for $100 MIB. I had been hunting for one for YEARS. I just saved it as a search & waited for the right price. I guess everyone was too busy buying SDCC Exclusives that week to take notice.

  7. Last night I dreamt I was searching for Marvel Minimates @ a store we have here in the Midwest called Shopko. There were lots of older, htf boxsets, but no 2-packs. There was another collector searching for Minimates & he passed right over the valuable boxsets. For some reason, this made me nervous as if he knew where the 2-packs were hidden or he knew something I didn't. I began to wonder around the toy section & came across unannounced TMNT sets! Each 2-pack included a Turtle & a villain or supporting character. The Turtles were different than the main releases. For instance, Raph had 6 arms(?). And there was a tiny villain that looked like Plankton from Spongebob Squarepants. The price was $11.99 for each set & I was going to pass because I thought they were too much, but on second thought, I grabbed them hoping someone on this board would want them. I snapped a couple of pics before removing them from the pegs because I was worried no one would believe what I found. Weirdest Minimate dream I have ever had.

  8. Other than Logan's jacket, I really dig the set. I think the face tampos are what really sell the set for me. Kitty has a unique face. Mystique is NOT wearing a smile, & Logan looks like Logan. I may purchase 2 sets just for the Sentinels alone & slap the extra Mystique head on the old Mystique.

  9. What have we learned so far?

    • The Walking Dead set is main characters as zombies.
    • The blind-bagged property is TMNT.
    • The Marvel set includes Iron Man, Deadpool, Wolverine, or Spidey.

    Feel free to add on.

On Facebook I suggested that a Wolviepool, Ironpool, & Spideypool from the the artwork off the "Deadpools Assemble" boxset might sell.
