  1. Hey Zack I wish this type of info was in the product solicitations as often I don't find out what I should have bought duplicates of until the last minute. Sometimes it's easy to order more other times no so. Thanks for this, now I need another Pym...

We showed both Ant-Man helmets (and all three sets of shoes) at NY Toy Fair two and a half months ago, assumed everyone saw that then. Sorry, Dave.

No need to apologize. I was just suggesting in general that a copy in the previews description stating which if any include parts for different looks/costumes/etc. I pretty much assume now that most minimates but think it would appeal more to casual buyers if they know the changeability and value in buying more than one pack.

  2. Well, now you see why I never showed you the silhos of the other figures. Because you'd seen them.

I don't think this will hurt specialty sales in general, because most comic shops don't compete with Disney Stores due to their limited locations, but I do feel bad for Luke, because I know a lot of the hardcores were a tough sell on that wave already.

BUT, I think you will want to keep your orders with Luke, for the following reasons:

    1. Ant-Man 2.0 and Sentry are awesome.

    2. Hank Pym can be displayed three different ways -- short Ant-Man, tall Giant-Man and regular height unmasked Pym. (He comes with hair.) So you actually need three of those.

    3. Thor comes with extra helmetless hair and an extra clean-shaven face. He also comes with both regular and spinny hammers.

    4. Hawkeye comes with hair and a quiver full of individual arrows.

    5. Iron Man comes with blue boot jets.

Will post tray pics and box pics soon.

Oh, and I do not remember mentioning a wave with Iron Fist, Luke Cage and Moon Knight in it.

  3. Hey everyone. My crew at Crimson Monkey recently started an entertainment/geek podcast called Geeking Weekly. We cover a large variety of entertainment from comics, to toys, to sports and TV and movies.

We just launched our 6th episode and I was hoping to get some feedback from you guys in the Multiverse.

You can see all the episodes at www.GeekingWeekly.com or just search for Geeking Weekly in iTunes.

If you could leave a comment or PM me any feedback would be much appreciated. Podcasting is new to me and I'm sure there are some vets on here that could give me some words of wisdom.

  4. Also consider that Minimates in general are such small potatoes to TRU it would be ridiculously unprofitable for them to spend any time or effort over the bare minimum selling them.

Let's assume – generously – that a run of a TRU exclusive is comprised of 2500 units of a 2-pack. At MSRP, $8 a pop, that's $20,000. If you figure 16 exclusive sets a year (i don't know exactly how many it is, but that seems to be in the right neighborhood) you end up with total sales of $320,000. For a company that did $13 million in annual sales in 2010, that's less than a drop in the bucket. Considering the numbers from that perspective, I wouldn't be surprised to learn than Minimates are a loss-leader to get us in the door and buy other stuff.

We can rail all we want about how we have handfuls of $10 bills we can give them, and how stupid they are for not wanting to take our money, but the reality is, if one of those $10 bills flutters to the floor instead of directly into their pockets, it is literally not worth their time to bend over and pick it up.

Usually with small run exclusives a set amount of preorders is a given.

Thinking like a greedy TRU executive, I would have a whole set or case only available for preorder. That would force us who only wanted the exclusives to but the whole set or even a case. Not everyone would do this but the hardcores would, those of us who jump on ebay the second it sells out. This would give TRU the extra money we'd be willing to pay.

Honestly I agree that they'll never do this for preorders but I'd hope they start doubling their online orders. From my understanding TRU sends the stores whatever they want, individual stores don't order. This way any extra online stock could go out to the stores.
