  1. Hey all. My name is Dave and I'm the guy behind Minimate Theatre and owner of CrimsonMonkey.com. Long story short is that the people who have been writing weekly columns for my site are being replaced. So I am looking for new writers to contribute a weekly column of their choosing. We are needing some specific columns, but will welcome anyone really who can keep a weekly schedule.

You are also welcome to contribute to other parts of the site but my main goal is to pick up some new columns to replace the "fired" writers.

Topics can cover all of pop culture or whatever you want but we are mostly looking for a comic column, a toy column and possibly a week in review type blog. You know kinda like the soup but more for the geeky online crowd.

I'm reaching out here because there are a lot of nice people on these boards and I'd rather spotlight people that deserve it than open it up to anyone.

Thanks for anyone who is interested.

    Dave

  2. Hey guys just found an interesting image form entertainment earth. Apparently the upcoming 25th anniversary pack will have the flames from the delorean.

I just wrote up an article about it for my website and I have the preorder link page on ee for those of you who want to see that too.

I can not wait for this set now.

  3. The Full list of New York Comic con Exclusives and it appears that not only will we get one of the AOA 4 packs but a New Mutants 4 pack. I haven't' heard anything about this but very excited as none of them have been in Minimate form yet.

Here are the full list of exclusives for those interested.

UPDATE: Seeing how the 4 packs are AFX exclusives I'd keep an eye on their blog for images very soon I hope.

  4. I found these in two separate areas in my local TRU. The BttF and one of the MAX jets was on a peg on one side of the aisle, and the T2 and the other MAX jet was on a peg on a peg on the aisle opposite the other ones. Weird.

Mine were with the other minimates in the "adult collector" section. No MAX jet though sadly.

  5. Updated 8/17/10:

Spider-Man returns to Minimate Theatre and takes a stroll that leads him to things he'd rather not see.

As always feel free to leave comments and questions.

    LOL! Most excellent!

    Thanks Gramps for the feedback.

The 17th of August...? Are you from the future :O?!

Great job on the comics. And Spidey is just jealous GL released a FAR better story line in 07 (Sinestro Corp vs One More Day; the latter making me lose interest in Spidey while the former helping to solidify my interest in GL :P).

Out of interest, what inspires you to make these comics?

What inspires me? Well the reason I make these in the first place is I've always wanted to make comics but can not draw well so I decided to take pictures of toys to help me out.

As for the storylines and actual strips, well anything. I constantly have an inner monologue in my head and more often than not I run these crazy conversations by these characters over and over until I write them down.

As for the specifics of who is in them it may be what new mates I've just got, what mates work well together and of course when they develop their own personalities they write themselves. I always thought that was a writers bs response but to be honest all I need to do is put the Silver Surfer in a situation and it just flows onto the paper.

I am actually a months ahead so in the coming weeks you'll see things from the end of July that influenced storylines. I just finished writing the Halloween specials, so hopefully you guys will keep enjoying them as I am really getting into doing this again.

As for the GL Spidey conflict that was actually a pick up from an old strip I have yet to put on the site. Trust me you have not seen the last of the GL/Spidey conflict.

  7. Hey guys thought I'd share this review by buddy Sean wrote for my website. He kind of beat me to the punch on this one but I think he did a good job on the X-Force review.

    http://crimsonmonkey.com/reviews/review-sd...orce-minimates/

These are the first mates he has bought in years and first review ever so be kind with the replies! :)

BTW I'm posting this hear because Sean is a good guy and got me the Free minimates they ere handing out in San Diego so I figured I'd return the favor and advertise his review to people who will enjoy reading it.

  8. It's good as long as TRU keeps stocking them and most importantly making them abundant on their website.

I think it's a mixed bag tohught with the shops.

At my TRU the Battlestar mates flopped, straight to clearance no one touched them. Marvel is mixed as they always under ordered and sold out fast, but I think they are doing better with the two packs. However Ghostbusters sells like crazy! They always get case after case in and they sell fast. Apparently Southwest Florida is a hot bed of Ghostbuster fans.

  9. In collecting there seems to always be certain items that are ever elusive or out of your price range. What in your collecting careers were, or still are, holy grails? What stayed out of your grasp for far to long and frustrated you to the point of madness and have you ever simply given up and admitted defeat?

For me I am still trying to get series 28 Deadpool for a sensible price. Also I still seek the orange shirted DCUC Aquaman. I've had to settle for the Gold shirted one, for now.

As for a successes I searched for months to get the DC Direct Sinestro in his Yellow corps uniform. Ebay had only ridiculously priced ones and all the comic shops I could utilise in Australia were dry (bar my local which had one but would only sell in a set of the whole series, they still have it 6 months later <_< ). I finally fond one on an online store portion of and American comic store in Wichita Falls Texas. In the end though it was, almost ironically, the cheapest priced one I had seen, $8 less then my LCS had ever sold it for.

And also ridiculously trying to get a wave 28 Wolverine took me a few weeks till Groundhog7 gave me a hand. Luckily I have had very little frustrations when It's come to minimates and gotten lucky several times with some had to get ones. the first Ghostbusters box set and the Good,Bad and Ugly Box set were hard to get and I eventually had to pay a premium for them, but other wise I have basically always been able to get what I wanted.....bar Deadpool.

I haven't been collecting for very long and my collecting scope is fairly narrow compared to other peoples, so I'm interested to hear what others have been through to get what they needed.

I've never had any problems with the mates as I've always just preordered the complete set with variant or ordered the box sets form Previews. Saying that though TRU has given me my only whole in my minimate collection. Warpath and X-Factor Angel. I refuse to pay 75-100 for those 2 and thus far will never complete my X-Factor team.
