  1. WOW.

This was one of the best movies I've seen in a long time that actually met my expectations. Not just as as a great comic book/super hero movie, but a great movie in general. There's no stings of "oh, that could've been better" like I had with some of the previous Marvel Studio films. (*cough* Captain America *cough*)

The movie is light on plot but the characters are so well written and the action is so well done that it overcomes that flaw much like Star Wars or Raiders of the Lost Ark did. This is the movie that Michael Bay thinks he's making. :yucky:

There are so many moments that are gold and we kept counting them off on the way home and still only scratched the surface. I haven't seen a movie do that in a long, long time.

I personally think subsequent viewings will only make this better. MAN. I will definitely be seeing this next weekend and I will be picking up the minimates at TRU afterwards. :highfive2:

I also cannot wait to see the repercussions from this on the other Marvel Studio films. So much potential...!!

  2. I'll see it, with the same reservations I had seeing First Class, and hope I am equally surprised and entertained.

This is exactly how I feel.

First Class knocked me on my ass. It came totally out-of-nowhere after hearing about its super rushed schedule... it ended up being one of my favorite comic book movies, surpassing the excellent X2: X-Men United as the best X-film much to my surprise.

    As for The Amazing Spider-Man:

I really like the grounded approach they went with... but its just too soon after Raimi's films. I mean, the original film literally just had its tenth anniversary yesterday. I don't know if I want to sit through Uncle Ben's death AGAIN...

On the bright side, the film's visuals look FANTASTIC outside of some dodgy CG. It's very colorful looking when compared to Nolan's usually cold Bat-films.

Andrew Garfield has potential as Spidey and I can already tell that Emma Stone's Gwen Stacey will be FAR better than Kirsten Dunst's highly-annoying Mary Jane Watson.

I just hope the Lizard will better than what his merchandise makes him look like. The trailers make it hard to see what he looks like...

So... it could go either way for me.

  3. These look absolutely fantastic.

    - YES on Cap's shield having a metallic finish. I loved it on the comic Cap from Hasbro's CA:TFA toyline. It just makes it stand it out.

    - Hawkeye looks great! A massive improvement over the bulky original.

    - Here's hoping the new Hulk hands have the same green color as the Wave 41 Hulk...

    - Definitely mixing pieces to get a classic Giant-Man.

    - Reaper also looks great. He brings back fond memories of Captain America & The Avengers for the Sega Genesis.

    - KANG. 'Nuff said.

    - Cap looks nice as does Iron Man but I'm fine with TTA Cap and Bolt-Face Iron Man.

All in all, I can't wait to get these. :D

  4. Question to those who own Amazing Fantasy Spidey... Is it possible to switch heads with another Spidey mate and still have matching colors? It seems like he has that odd orangish-bright-red color that the McFarlane Spidey has...

I ask because I'm thinking of picking him up; the body looks perfect but the eyes on the head are a bit too small for my liking and I want to switch it out with one of the more recent Spidey mates. (The Classic Heroic Age Spidey to be exact.)

  5. 1. Blob

    2. Pyro

    3. Toad

    4. Kang

    5. Dazzler (Wow, never thought we would get her, especially in her Outback/Konami outfit just like I wanted. :turned: )

    6. Enchantress

    7. Tombstone

    8. Whirlwind

    Redo:

    1. Classic Nick Fury

    2. Bulked-up Rhino (Looks awesome!)

    3. Classic Punisher (New one coming out is close enough for me!)

    4. Classic Loki

    5. Carnage

    6. Bulked-up Colossus (With a new brown Wolverine as a bonus!)

    New list time!

    New mates --

    1. Classic Blob

    2. Toad

    3. Pyro

    4. Kang

    5. Enchantress

    6. Tombstone

    7. Whirlwind

    8. Wrecking Crew (Boxset would be grand...)

    Redos --

    1. Classic Nick Fury

    2. Carnage

    3. Bulked-up Abomination (Please, please, please!)

    4. Classic, horned-helmet Loki (Dieing for this one...!)

    5. Giant-Size Cyclops/White X-Force Cyclops (Instead of blue with black muscle detailing like most Cyclops mates, it'd be much better for him to have a very dark blue (or plain black) base with bright blue muscle highlights. I kitbashed something similar and it looks great! As an alternative, I wouldn't mind the white X-Force costume either. )

    6. Hobgoblin (To match the recent Green Goblin mates.)

    7. Bullseye (Can't find the TRU one at a decent price. Really regretting not buying him when I had the pack in my hands...)

  6. - Abomination (Ignoring the size issue, the original mate wasn't all that great.)

    - Vision (Non-phasing/translucent would be great.)

    - Hawkeye (The old one looks weird with his mask and bulky chest piece and skirt.)

    - Iron Monger & Blob (Classic comic versions, please!)

    - Wasp (I would love her yellow and black costume plus they could do a mini-Wasp piece ala Galactus... that and the wings on my Kirby Wasp broke. )

    - Nick Fury (Especially after seeing the army builder coming out.)

    - Absorbing Man (With powerhouse chest and interchangeable pieces like TRU Sue.)

    - Black Cat (The last version is... eww.)

    - Chameleon (Just for the disguise/weapon pieces alone, it'd would be worth it.)

  7. Ha ha, yes! With Dazzler I finally have the Konami X-Men team in toy form!

The new Colossus and brown Wolverine look great. Rouge I'm indifferent about as I've already got the Jim Lee version.

Thor's twirling Mjolnir accessory looks awesome. That'll make for some really cool looking poses. Captain America's new shield with the metallic finish is exactly what I've been wanting after getting one of the figures from last year's CA movie toy line.

Venom boxset looks cool but I think I'm fine with the one I've got from the TRU two-pack. And bulked-up RHINO!! Finally! *tosses old Rhino into parts bin*

As for the movie stuff... I'll pick up all the Avengers stuff. They look great. The Spider-Man stuff... I'll get Spidey and Lizard and that's about it. Spidey can go with the Avengers movie stuff and I'll kitbash Lizard into a classic-ish version.
