I'm confused.
Should this hairpiece have been included in the set or not?
It was, but was missing from most, if not, all sets. DST made amends by sending out the missing piece for those who replied, but that was quite a while ago and supply has certainly been exhausted. I'll look around in my "parts-bins" and see if I can't locate one for you, Fil.

This is great news and very reassuring, but I suspect the majority of us were already sold. Just make sure that the general public gets the message as well while there's interest. Any means of obtaining extra eggs would be outstanding! Thanks, Zach!

Please include helmets and an extra bun-hairpiece for Wilma! It would also be awesome if Dr. Theopolis were removable from Twiki's chest (an accessory for an accessory?!?...yes please).

Thing I remember the most about that show is that the starfighter was really cool. Hopefully that's on the way.
Hands-down the coolest-looking spaceship IMO! This, and a Draconian Marauder would be wonderful (and great for army-building Draconian Warriors).
Hah, awesome! Hope we get a second set with Hawk at some point.
Ha, I was going to say this exact same thing, he was my favorite!
biddy biddy, gee Buck!
I love this announcement! I'd love for Flash Gordan to be next!
Hawk's costume was very cool. Flash Gordon Movie-'mates have been on my top-five list for quite some time and would translate beautifully in 'mate form.
is this real???
holy fucksticks!!!!!
I thought the same. In fact, I was afraid to click because I didn't want the same disappointment I experienced with the Planet of the Apes subject! This truly caught me off-guard; what a wonderful left-field surprise...bring it!

Imagine getting new Star Trek and PotA mates instead of the 900 other new properties we're getting.
I'm afraid that's all any of us can do...imagine.

Yep, that about does it for my Alien/s "wish-list". Now for Predator...

Face it, you parasites are always on the attack. I suggest a group hug before someone gets Hurt. No one need slink-away into the shadows with their tail between the legs.
"Maybe we can build a fire, sing a couple of songs!"

I try to help and here you come to Drake the coals for an all-out flame-war! Suit yourself, but I just can't handle the pressure or Gor, man. My apologies for coming-off like a Queen or Bishop.

Face it, you parasites are always on the attack and Brent on destruction. I suggest a group hug before someone gets Hurt. While I admire your Spunk, it's Hadley Ferro to Alienate and Lambert poor BHM. You should all be Ash-amed. Hope I didn't Frost anyone by this post. No one need slink-away into the shadows with their tail between the legs or egg on their face, but all this drama reminds me of an episode of Dallas.

I wouldn't want Weaver with a bulky jacket (because it would detract from her female-ness), and the primary looks in the film for Kane and Parker were the white outfits we're getting. The ones where a bulky jacket could make more sense would be Brett and Dallas (again excluding Lambert because she's a female).
Yeah, I think Dallas and Brett could use jackets (even better if they include extra arms to make them jacket-less). This way, anyone wanting to put jackets on the other crew members could do so by purchasing another set and swapping parts. More sales and everyone happy.

That's awesome! I thought the tampo looked great, but I'm sure clear dome on skull will be even better.Cdubya, the alien skull is not a tampo, it will be a clear dome over a painted skull. Photo is a composite, since we don't have the translucent piece yet.
Love it! I really wasn't expecting that level of detail. Can't wait to get these in my hands.

Well now we know AND these pics are on page 2 as well. It's a win-win.Negative.
Sadly, I don't have any high res. shots for us to, uh, examine.
So you're sayin' we could possibly see a pony-tail and a camel's-toe? Well that alone, is worthy of a second set. Seriously though, Ashe, Dallas, Brett, and Lambert. That subtle skull tampo is a really nice touch, BTW.

Funny film fact that I never knew: When Jeanette Goldstein auditioned for 'Aliens', she thought it was a film about immigration.

I fully expect this, with a surprised, milk-splattered face!
If they do this then they have to give him 'crawling zombies' entrails but molded in a milky white colour!say with battle damaged Bishop,

I did ask Chuck about the Power Loader as he & I packed up all the Minimate prototypes after the show (.....see what I did there?) .
I am sworn to secrecy about the chances of getting one .
Anybody wanna buy my kubrick loaders ?
I may take you up on that offer (if you are serious), if the Queen is any indication of what we might receive. I might be more satisfied with Kubricks'.
My counter argument would be that the entire Godzilla line is in a two inch scale, there's nothing for them to be in scale with but each other. Aliens on the other hand, has numerous humans that we know are significantly smaller than the Alien Queen. If the license forbids it, then that's fine, it's a fact we have to bear with the Marvel line too, but if they just chose to go that route, I think that's a very foolish choice.
Agreed. It's been done this way in the past (Takara's Microman AVP comes to mind), and the result was a peg-warmer that collectors didn't feel compelled to bother with. I'm willing to bet that the success of this particular line (equal if not surpassing Ghostbuster 'mates) warrants reevaluation and the risk.
Stack those torsos, yo! Make that bitch tall!
After seeing what the designers have come up with using parts from 2-inch bodies in other lines, I've got faith. So long as we don't get a 2-inch bobble head...
I do too MPL, I just fear that the designers' limitations may be too great this time. Speaking of "bobble-heads", I might actually prefer a 5" static bobble-mate (with 'mates proportions, ala Stay-puft bank.) for display purposes over what it sounds like we might be getting.
I'm trying to remain optimistic, as all of the 'mates shown have exceeded my expectations. It sounds like DST is as well. I just really think that they are going to have to make an exception and think-outside-the-box (no pun intended) from previous Vehicle- mates releases to make these work successfully (which let's face-it, based on past sales, wouldn't be a bad idea). It will be far too easy for Chuck to turn and say: "I told you they wouldn't sell", if a sub-par product that only a handful of completionists will want gets released. I realize that we as fans have nothing to lose and can dream without limitations of budget (etc.), but I suspect what makes us happy (translating into more sales and new fans) will also make them happy!

It totally is, but I suppose you could both be right as John Hurt in a pressure-suit is presently unplanned! Something I hope gets rectified very soon (just shortly after Dallas, Lambert, Ash, and Brent see release).

According to the Alien wikipedia, an average Queen is 20 feet tall.
If a Minimate is 2" = 6', then a Minimate Queen would be about 6.5" tall. That's definitely vehicle scale.
I'd settle for a 15-footer myself.
(And Valo beat me to it.)
Yeah, they vary from film to film, but 20' seems to be the general con-census for proper scale. These are Minimates we're talking about, though, and therefore super-deformed and compressed. I'd say 4" from ground to shoulder would be fine. The head/crest alone should be 2"-2.5". The real question is how to execute the body. Ideally, an enlarged take on the Battle-Beasts 'mates would be great, but I'd imagine very costly to tool (especially for one-time use). Perhaps a one-piece torso (2"-2.5") sculpted to look like a 'mates torso with chest and crotch pieces attached would be more economical (and don't forget the lil' arms!). The legs would be the most challenging and possibly best left solid (though hinged-articulation would be greatly appreciated). As long as the ball-jointed neck, shoulder, and hips (and tail) are retained, she'll still have enough range of motion to hunch to interact with 'mates or rear-up in an enraged, menacing fashion. If possible, a base with eggs would be nice (an egg-sac would put this over-the-top!).
I want it all, but in order of importance:
#1 Queen = Power-loader(3"-3.25")
2 APC (we're getting all these Marines, right?)
3 Drop-ship

Surely they wouldn't overlook the obvious.

I was irrationally happy to see the cat.
Yep, his inclusion is very reassuring. Aliens is shaping-up nicely. Now if we can just get the rest of the Alien cast.
-
I don't know if this is the mystery mate, but Dietrich was previously shown. I'm loving the accessories (flame is a nice surprise), but I'm stii wondering where the pods are. I was really hoping to get one in each set to amass a hive. I'm excited for these to hit!
-
Well let's just be thankful that the Minimates being released are based on versions that the majority seem to like. Can you imagine the ruckus if it were the other way around?

The current Plants VS Zombies mini figures/statues...whatever, they're not really posable. They're static and don't move like the new little Pokemon figures (made by the same company that does Adventure Time toys, I think?) have been sitting since I've seen them put on shelves.
I dunno...I just don't think there's much interest for Plants Vs Zombies merchandise. But that's my opinion.
I think there probably is (though I'm not one of them), considering all of the merchandise forthcoming. However, I do have reservations about this line and it's timing after seeing all of the K'Nex PvZ mini-fig.s and sets that are starting to hit. While I personally think the 'mates are superior, the brand-recognizable construction sets will likely catch the eye of parents and children long before the 'mates launch. Hopefully there will be enough support from established 'mate collectors to off-set this, but it may be too little too late since the K'Nex product is hitting shelves first and in greater numbers.

Not recently, but I believe Chuck had mentioned wanting to persue the license in the past. It makes perfect sense to me. It's another cash-cow that always has a fan-base. And much like the Alien/s license, the only way fans could hope to get a full-cast (likeness-rights)!
-
While that's a creative option, I truly hope it doesn't come down to that. I prefer to hope for the best rather than settle for facsimiles.

I've always loved Mega Bloks and their new CoD line is simply amazing. Their customer relations and support are excellent as well (at least until a few greedy pricks took advantage and forced them to scrutinize "parts-replacement" requests a bit more). The up-coming Assassin's Creed line should be interesting if they continue with the new style MAFs. However, I'm not thrilled about them being absorbed by Mattel. As a long time action figure collector (since the 70's), Mattel is the last company I want associated with a desirable license. Their less-effort-for-more-capital-gain business template that they've shamelessly used for decades has done little for the hobby. Hell, the MB CoD MAFs already have more points of articulation than any 3 3/4" figure they've ever produced! As long as they stay out of the design process and allow Mega Brands to continue evolving, things might go well, but I still feel a bit uneasy about it.

Despite my urge to type a novel length post, I will refrain (for now) and simply say..."Thank-You". I've been having an extremely tough week and this made me smile.
