  1. Seriously, this has me upset. BSG was my second favorite license, and i was looking forward to something here. A poster and the old Raiders and Vipers aren't cutting it for me...

I was hoping to see something more concrete but I'm not worried. I know the line isn't dead so just be patient. We'll see something.

I'd like to hope that DST didn't just outright lie to everyone - so perhaps the delays are related to some upcoming plot revelation

(like the identity of Daniel, the retired #7 cylon)

or another plot twist that's coming that they can't reveal until it airs or SciFi Channel gives it their blessing

  2. So... with all of the cool pictures from Toyfair coming in, I can't help but notice a distinct lack of BSG 'mates so far. I realize TF hasn't really started yet, but wouldn't it be grand?

Apparently a couple of sources at DST have promised "something" at Toy Fair - maybe since the characters aren't "new" and this has been solicited in one form already, it got passed on some of the preview phot ops in favor of the really fresh stuff... I keep checking the Toy Fair coverage... best just to give it time, but I can tell you that Godfather is no substitute for those last BSG cylons

  3. Ghostbusters looks great - did anyone notice Egon's got a detachable PKE Meter and I'm glad that they've thrown in a ghost trap too. In 2 box sets, they manage to capture a fair representation of the primary characters. Great job with Mr. Stay Puft, Slimer and the demon-dog - I'm always impressed when DST departs from the human/biped figure and goes a slightly different direction (like the daggit)

The BTTF DeLoreans look hot - nice light up effects, but I'm wondering if those will be close to Minimate scale????

I like the Exclusive Spock give away from the show - but I hate chasing for those things since attending Toy Fair is out of the question for me.

Wolverine Movie Mates look cool - the rest of the Marvel stuff isn't really my thing, though there are a couple of figures or sets that may be worth getting.

Terminator all looks cool, including wave 2 - I think someone's gotten excited about the sulpts of the BD T-1000

I was hoping the preview photos would have some details about the direction of BSG - I'd really like to know what the new, re-tooled lineup will look like. Guess those may show up in a day or two

Sorry to see no Trek Mates - but we saw that coming

I'm reserving judgement on the Godfather until I see some product.

    On a non-minimate related note:

The ST TWOK Communicator and Phaser look hot, as do the Classic Tricorders (Medical & Science) - they did such a spectacular job on the Classic phaser, that I'm sure these will be great.

Gotta love everyone's favorite Borg Porn Star - I'll take one of each

The Nurse Chapel sculpt for the 7" series looks like it's very well done (and a nice tribute to the late Mrs Roddenberry)

So having not read the Ultimates, exactly what is that little thing that comes with the Iron Man? Does it attach to him?

And that WW2 Cap looks very familiar...

Just out of curiosity... Does the 'A' on his helmet stand for 'France'? :P

I thought a white flag stood for France??? :pinch:

  4. Tonight's episode was a great

    re-introduction to Ellen Tigh

as well as a good start on explaining

the sequence of events with the 13th Colony, Final 5, and creation of the other 7 models

    .

Looks like they're expanding the storyline of

the Galactica's damage and making that a plot line in itself.

    Makes me wonder if the

Galactica will somehow be the final casualty of the series (a la ST: The Search for Spock)

    Interesting insight into

    Cavil

    and his mindset.

    I wonder where this

    mystery cylon "Daniel"

is gonna come into play, if at all.

Funny how the PC guy from the PC vs Mac commercials made an appearance as the

    brain specialist.

Next week appears to be another threat

to the cohesiveness of the fleet, with the threat that the Six and the final 5 cylons bugging out on their own

    . The appearance of

    Ellen on the Galactica

    may suggest that

Cavil & friends may be re-doubling their efforts to find and engage

    the fleet.

These new events may be part of the reconfiguration of the final waves of mates.

  5. ...

Still doesn't explain the lack of Carpacia. :( So if we only need 5, box set or full on wave with 2 extra characters? Maybe a BD Morter Cylon?

    (my italics)

Uh, do you mean Caprica, the prequel TV show? That won't start until 2010, though the 2 hour pilot will be out on DVD sometime in 2009. It's kinda early to expect to see Caprica Minimates.

I'm pretty sure he was referring to the "New Caprica" box set rather than the upcoming spin-off series.

While the "final five" would be nice, all of the 'mates from the box set and Series 5-6 are pretty important to rounding-out this line and deserve to be released somehow. Without spoiling anything, it is important to remember that the final five (2 have been done...but I won't say who) are separate from the other unreleased 'skin-jobs' (which total 4). That, and I really wanted at least one stripped-down/tank-top pilot to use as a base for pilot customs (provided that it wasn't a limited variant). I could personally call-it-quits after that (and easily customize anything lacking...except for Colonial Marines!). Hopefully, they have a "plan" to somehow incorporate all of these.

Of the New Caprica Set and series 5, 6, I think there's room to slim it down a bit... I certainly wouldn't lose sleep without the Captive Six, Romo Lampkin or Preacher Baltar - afterall there's quite a few Baltars & Sixes out there and Lampkin wasn't a particularly compelling character.

I also think if you packed Athena, Hotdog or Racetrack with the variant, an extra head/hair will go further to round out the cast.

I'm just hoping that all the cylon models get fleshed out by the time this things ends its run

  6. Based on the last minimate Q & A, the DST guys hinted that they'd have something to show to help re-kindle interest in the final BSG waves...

To Quote the AA Q&A blog:

We plan to show at Toy Fair and we have a couple ideas but for now yes BSG 5&6 as well as the Caprica box set are on “hold”

Sadly, the photos from a couple of sources at Toyfair have not revealed anything for BSG minimates... just the 7" figures. It kinda suggests that someone was blowing smoke up our collective you-know-whats.

  7. OK - here's my votes:

    01) BEST MINIMATE:

Iron Man, Mark III (Candy-Apple Red Paint was a nice touch)

Straight Jacket Hannibal Lecter (1 word - Iconic)

Monco from Fistful of Dollars (Again - Iconic Eastwood)

    02) WORST MINIMATE

    T-Shirt Marty McFly (Yawn)

Gladiator Kirk (Really Low-Hanging fruit on the effort tree)

Pepper Potts (Lousy resemblance - not too exciting)

    03) BEST PACKAGING

TRU Iron Man Exclusive (Neat new figures w/ partial exposure packaging)

    04) BEST BOX SET/WAVE

BSG Razor (New Cylons and great flashback pilot uniform)

    05) WORST BOX SET/WAVE

Iron Man Thru the Ages (more Iron Man - YAWN big time)

    06) SEXIEST MINIMATE

Con Exclusive BSG Six (Hot Cylon in revealing clothes - enough said)

Yeoman Rand (Classic Star Trek hottie w/ nice legs & short skirt)

    MArlena Moreau

    07) BIGGEST SLEEPER

BSG Classic Heros - (Great job resurrecting classic BSG, esp w/ the cool Daggit)

Fistful of Dollars - (Classic Eastwood Movie)

Desperately Seeking Susan 2-Pack (Don't ask me how - but it flew off the shelves)

    08) IF ONLY...

Lara Croft - (Guns, Boobs, Short Shorts - enough said)

    09) FAVORITE CUSTOM (top 3 choices)

    (too many to judge)

    10) BEST ACCESSORY

Chef Duff Icing Blaster/Power Drill Mixer/Chainsaw

Hannibal Lector Mask, straight Jacket & Hand Truck

    Gul Dukat Interchangeable head

    11) WORST ACCESSORY

Sick Bay McCoy & Nurse Chapel (Could have included something more uniquely medical - like a hypospray or med scanner hand)

    Tribbles Kirk (no Damn Tribbles)

    12) BEST VARIANT

Mark II Iron Man from wave 21 (nice recreation from the movie)

    13) WORST VARIANT (one choice)

    Tarantula from Wave 24 (Yawn)

    14) BEST IRON MAN OF '08

Mark III Iron Man from wave 21 (nice recreation from the movie)

Stealth Iron Man from TRU Exclusive (great adaptation of the Mark III)

Mark II Iron Man from wave 21 (nice recreation from the movie)

  8. Great episode this week - as promised,

we did see a real reconing

    .

    I imagine

Anders will be saved by Cottle

    to preserve all of the

    Cylons

    .

Interesting preview for next week - I guess

Ellen Tigh is coming back to finish this thing out

    .

    No surprise that

Zarek and Gaeta didn't make it to the end

    - Once they

    blew out Dee

    , I figured the

field would get a lot narrower

    .

One thing though - at the end when

Tyrol is reflecting on the close call with the FTL

    , he looks

    at marks on the wall

    - I can't figure out what those were...

damage/stress that suggest that the Galactica would have exploded if it jumped or got into a fight????

    Any thoughts?

By the way - finally got to see something of the

    FTL and engine room

    .

  9. This week was pretty cool - it's nice to see

    Starbuck

back in action again. Also good to have

    Baltar back in the mix.

    I hope the teaser

about Tigh and Adama getting killed was supposed to be misleading, 'cause they're two of my favorite characters. I would also think that Tigh may have some greater part to play as one of the twelve.

I was figuring that this epidode would have seen

    Gaeta

    killed... I think, like

    Dualla

, we're gonna see some of the

    secondary characters

    get picked off.

Gaeta was on that list, as was Zarek.

I'm also still waiting to see what the deal is with

    Earth being populated by Cylons

and how that gets rationalized or perhaps explains some type of

    shared lineage

. I smell some irony cooking for the last couple episodes though.

    Knowing that

    Ellen Tigh

is the final cylon begs the question...

will we see her again before the end

    .

My weekly BSG fix does serve as a reminder that we got shorted several minimate cylons with the frakkin' cancellation of wave 5, 6 & New Caprica. Gods Dammit!

Yeah, each week just reaffirms how abso-frak'in-lutely crucial those last two waves and the boxset were!

Hell, only 5 out of 13 (and I'm being generous by counting Tigh, Tyrol, and D'Anna, though they really warrant remakes)core Cylons produced?!? I want Racetrack even more now that she's a frak'in traitor(probably the biggest contribution she's made to the show) and HotDog is probably the most prolific pilot shown next to Kara and Lee!

Last night's episode was refreshingly chaotic. It's nice to see

the "old man", Tigh, Starbuck, and Lee (acting a bit more like "Apollo") taking-up arms and kicking ass again! Hell, who needs the Cylons when the last children of humanity are doing such a good-job killing each other off...such a wild rollercoaster ride! And just where are our favorite tin-men? Humanity (if there is such a thing) had better get it's shit together quick. I'm also hoping that we'll get some answers (or at least some flash-backs) to shed some light on what the Hell went down on Earth. Great stuff. Last week's episode was a bit weak, but now it seems like we're gaining a bit of momentum again. And, oh yes, irony abounds in this series; I would expect the finale to be nothing less. Gaeta truly is a turd (and should probably hang), but one thing that this series has taught me is that nothing can be taken at face-value(remember New Caprica?)...there just may be a few more surprises left to redeem those who have fallen from grace.

Did you watch the 10-part webisodes w/ Gaeta?

    Yeah...and he's still a turd. A gay, pimping,

    murdering

, backstabbing turd. And for that he should be airlocked.

    I'm such a kind person, aren't i??

I just thought they completely glossed over that back story when

Gaeta had Hoshi, his gay lover, taken into custody with Adama, Tigh and the rest of the loyal crew members

    - and there was no fallout from

    Hoshi

    when it happened.

    I expected

like some kind of arguement, pleading, screaming or slap fight

    or something.

  12. and they wonder why they have a 2.8 Billion dollar loss in revenue last year.

i've been waiting on a package to be delivered, that was accepted by the usps in Illinois on 1/23 and now eight days later it has traveled a whole 4.5 miles, i didnt realize they were going to walk it in. should reach me hear in Vermont the first week of September 2010 at that rate.:angry::angry:

During the holidays I bought something from Best Buy that was shipped by their econo UPS/USPS hybrid service (UPS ships to the local USPS hub and then the Post office gets it to your door.

In one instance, the item I ordered was tracked by UPS to the Postal hub in about 2 days (within a mile of the delivery address), where it sat for over a week before being delivered.

I called to ask after a couple days, and all I heard was, "we have 30 days to deliver before it's late, call us in a month and we'll trace it"

    Talk about no service.

Additionally, I manage a shipping/receiving and mail service department for a stock trading company - I have to argue constantly with the Post Office becasue they mis-deliver items all the time - in one instance, I had to argue that the USPS needed to deliver mail as it was addressed - since the carrier thought they knew better, they were returning mail to the sender, even though the address on the front was correct in all respects. I had to escalate to the National Customer Service department because the local team was a bunch of idiots who pretty much wouldn't be told how they should do their jobs.

On the other hand, I feel that UPS charges a lot and makes sure to take their time on the ground service (to remind you that you didn't pay to get it any sooner)... it's funny that a UPS package from AFX in So Cal takes the same amount of time as shipping from BBTS on the East Coast (I live near San Fran.) even though they travel, by truck, about 20% of the distance. For the cost, I prefer Priority Mail, since I get stuff from the East Coast in 2-3 days instead of 7-8. My Punisher-War Zone set shipped from SciFiGenre on Wednesday afternoon and arrived on the West Coast in Friday's delivery and cost about $5 to ship. If it were from BBTS, I'd have paid $2-3 more to ship UPS and I probably wouldn't see it until next Wednesday or Thurs.

  13. The questionaire was a piece of paper that had the 'no postage neccessary' envelope front. It basically asked general product questions(i.e. what DST products you like?, how often you buy?, how much $$ you spend on said products?, etc.) Mine was in the Iron Man Movie boxset(as I stated before). I'm not sure if these were packed in every set, or if they came with other non-minimate products.

I got one of these in the Secret Invasion set, I think.

It's the "Join the Revolution" card attached to pics of DST's marvel product. They have the same thing for the BSG figures that are sold thru TRU.

  14. Art Asylum has a new blog up about these, with packaging shots. It looks like the Sand Sariff thats in black comes in the 4 pack and the one in the white comes in the exclusive. They look pretty good.

It's interesting that they changed up the Sand Sarefs in the packaging, considering they've been pre-selling the sets with the white, formal attire Sand Saref in the 4-pk.

I wonder if it's intentional or a goof... based on many of the Q & A's it sounds like there's a lot of details that get overlooked during the proof phases, and by the time anyone notices, it's too late. Or maybe these are just mock-ups and will be corrected in the final version??
