  1. Thanks, JP! And I'm still using Photoshop, I haven't had a chance to try to install Illustrator yet but I will...

Here's a mock Watchmen Minimates Promo Poster

They're paired up the way that I think would be appropriate for release in a wave although I think these would be better suited to a 6-figure box set. That and I couldn't think of who to include as the variant...

DUDE, your designs totally put mine to shame. I need to use your template, I love the thinner lines.

  2. Wait a moment! I suddenly remembered that I did a Mr. Fantastic custom. I didn't like my SDCC Mr. F having blue arms with white labcoat sleves. Makes no sense. So I took 2 out of my billion extendy arms, painted them, and did this!

    Haha, that's cool!

  3. Mmm? I don't know what Batman's mask looks like in minimate form since I haven't bought any non-Marvel minimates thus far (yes, I'm a brand loyalty whore, lol). In reality, the mask should be removable, but I guess I was lazy for that one... as for how that particular minimate would work, I figure the head is something molded for the specific shape of the ears and all that, like the The Leader head which was extra tall.

  4. Photoshop, nothing 3D about it at all :P

First I trace the outlines of a basic no accessory minimate, scan it into the computer and enlarge it. Once the outline is big enough to fill an 8 by 11 piece of paper I print it out at half opacity. Then I draw stuff onto the paper... gloves, hats, skirts, designs if need be like pecks or abs, whatever. I scan that back into the computer and go over my pencils with digital pencil tool, then color them in. The very first one I did took a while cause I was still creating the formula, now I can crank em out at a pretty steady pace. Of course I also scan stuff from existing Minimates and piece it together... for example, the werewolf by night one I know consists of X-Men 3 Beast's chest fur design, Super-Skrull's face (with a canine nose added by me) and Nightcrawler's Hair.

  5. That's true huh? There's a stipulation in the contract between Marvel and DST that AA can't make figures over 2 and a half inches tall (I believe, correct me if I'm wrong) but there's nothing to say they can't make ones that are actually smaller right?

  6. ORIGINAL AVENGERS BOX-SET

The name says it all, how about a box set of the original Avengers? I propose six figures...

Iron Man (Gold)- This would essentially be the 'Classic Iron Man' Minimate from the 2-pack that has silver centurian, however painted gold and perhaps with a removable extender arm (remember silver age Ironman coulddo the stilt man thing with his arms, lol)

Hulk - I've liked the Hulks so far, but we need one that looks more like the Kirby version... there are a few very specific things about how Kirby drew Hulkie, and this would also give them an oppertunity to add the chest accessory we've all been whining about. Possible accessories are clown nose and get up. I'm not kidding

Thor - I know we're coming out with a Thor in the new set, but that's never stopped AA from packing previously released minimates in a box set with others. For completion's sake, we need a Thor... maybe change the look on his face a little. Mjolnir accessory of course.

Donald Blake - Gotta tell you, I love putting my bruce Banner figure up mext to my Hulk, and my Peter Parker next to my Spidey... something about having the alter ego version of minimates that's cool. Give me a limp legged doctor with a cane, and I'll be happy!

Wasp - I know we won't have any size difference, but a minimate of human size jan in the wasp costume is fine with me, I love that weird silver age outfit with the pointy head. Bring on pointy headed Jan! It's also time we have a minimate with wing accessories.

Ant-Man - Same as above, would have to be regular size, but I'd be ok with it. Honestly, I'd rather have a Giant-Man one, but that wasn't until Avenger #2 if memory serves me correctly... so if we're staying with the Avengers #1 theme, it would have to be Anty. Accessories include helmet, obviously, and perhaps a bunch of little ant toys.
