  1. Thanks guys, you've just answered the questions I was about to ask. I was totally unaware of this and the Hulk through the ages set until I came back to the board. Really pleased

that this is going to be available via the LCS route. Looking forward to seeing this set become a reality.

  2. I saw all the LOTR sets at TRU today, the new Monster series is out too. They all look really nice, but TRU's Lego prices are out of control...

I always shop around now for Lego. The small sets like Cap's bike are priced ok(ish) but the larger sets

are stupid money. For the Avengers stuff I've gone 50/50 on Amazon and Lego.com/uk.

Lego are giving away an exclusive Hulk minifigure if you spend over £50 so I got the Quinjet and Cap bike from them.

Amazon were slightly discounting the Helicarrier and Loki Escape so I got them a few quid cheaper.

  3. I picked the Copter set up t'other day. My son and I put it together last night (that was fun) :D

It's a great set. Admittedly the Joker Copter Is more functional, but the Deadpool Copter has an armoured heavy duty look and feel to it, and I like it a lot.

The minifigures are all great. I love that Mags gets a little lego block to levitate on.

  4. And people abused the system.

I agree though. DST's customer service has gone from 'pretty good' to 'you're kidding me, right?' 5 month waiting period? can't send replacement parts? Yah, I don't think so.

Fair point Dino, I suppose once word got out that Play Along, played along... Then greed would take over.

I'm very disappointed in DST's customer services. They're great for engaging with fans, but very hit and miss when it comes to dealing with problems.

  5. I feel, that if DST are unable to replace a defective/missing part, then they should at least offer to compensate instead.

Out of three or four complaints I've winged their way I've only ever had one positive response. The rest of the time it's been 'we can't help, sorry'.

    I don't think that's good enough.

Contrast that with Play Along toys who sent me an entire c3 Batgirl when all I had missing was her right hand.

  6. Saw it yesterday. Was utterly enthralled. My son was so caught up in it that he punched the air when Thor saved Cap from a bunch of [Redacted}

Hulk was fantastic! Had the entire audience killing themselves laughing at a certain encounter with a certain naughty god. And the sucker punch was to die for! :D

Joss Whedon, made a great film.

  7. You'll be heading to that "proper" sainsburys nearish yours though I'd imagine?

I had to make do with those weird Sainsburys Local things

Ah I see, we have the Tesco version here. Had a nightmare Saturday trying to get the Doctor figure. No Sainsbury's in Norfolk got any of the Doctor figure, so I ended up having to do a 16 mile round trip to the 'local' TRU. That was a joy. Mind you while I was there I did pick up a couple of handfuls of the blind bags too. Got so many doubles that the boy ended up with his own collection! :D He very happy!

  8. I also only managed to get ONE Pandorica Amy today from 5(!) sainsburys it would appear they both got less of todays and also started handing em out yesturday when they ran out of Daleks so sadly I cannot help ANYONE with those.

That's me stuffed then :( Can't get to Sainsburys until later tonight!

  9. http://www.characterbuilding.eu/dr-who/micro-figures/

The official website is up and running. Looks like the Super Rare figures will be exactly that; super rare.

Projected Weeping Angel : 500 only

    Raggedy Doctor : 500 only

Amy Pond (Green Coat) : 100 only

The Eleventh Doctor (Football Kit) : 100 only

    Silurian Alaya : 100 only

How to kill a line dead or what? Anyone else remember the Star Trek 1701 debacle?

I'm not going all out to get every figure in this line. The Super rare can remain so.

  10. I agree that John Simm did an amazing job. I just didn't care for the story, especially the second half.

How is Torchwood compared to Doctor Who? Is it less appropriate for children to watch? I probably shouldn't let my 4 year old watch Doctor Who with me, but he loves it so much, I couldn't possibly say no. :)

Torchwood is much darker in tone and violence, and contains a lot more sexy bits than Dr. Who. I enjoyed watching it, but I wouldn't recommend it for a 4-year old.

Torchwood's definitely not for kids. The first series tries to hard to be edgy and adult and while okay, makes for a slightly immature, self-concious show. The second series finds a much better balance, the third is darker than the darkest thing that sits at the back of the darkest shelf in a really really dark cupboard. It's also excellent.

  11. You realise that the actor playing the older version of him in this first episode of Who is his real father,William Morgan Sheppard?

I did, but only because I watched last weeks Dr Who Confidential ;)

  12. I first remember him as a 'firestarter' character in an early episode of the X-Files,since then....Warehouse 13,CSI(various),Medium,24,ST Voyager & many more.

Good grief, really? Was that him? What/who was he in Voyager?

  13. I do worry though that Moffat is being a little too clever for his own good and that the season openers were likely to go over the heads of a lot of the unwashed masses.

    T.

Oi, my nipper is exceptionally well maintained I'll 'ave yew no! Unwashed indeed! 'Harrumph!' :P

ps: To your spoiler: Yes. That's my suspicion too.

We just finished Series 3, and I thought the last two episodes with The Master were a little disappointing. Onward to Series 4!

Sorry to hear that Luke, I loved those episodes. Thought John Simm made for an excellent Master. I'd like to hear your thoughts on series 4.

There was a massive outcry among UK Who fandom when the actor who played the new companion was announced.

I found it difficult to follow & resorted to rewinding it continuously to make any sense of it. The ginger jock has gone from being hot to downright irritating & her incessant shouting out "Doctor" even more so. Having said that ...there is still hope because Smith carries this show & I can only hope that it improves.

Mark Sheppard ( somebody 'the Third' )must be heading for some sort of award for appearing in the most cult TV series'....he's been in almost every show I can think of......seriously

    Mark Sheppard: Let's see...

Firefly, Battlestar Galactica, Supernatural, Doctor Who... Can't think of any more off of the top of my head, but Callum Keith Rennie who played Leoben in BSG is vying for similar honours.

I don't find Amy annoying, but I do agree that right now Matt Smith is carrying the show. I think he's possibly my favourite Doctor too.

I enjoyed the second part of the new series alot just for the little things like what I thought was a nod to the old movie serials where the hero is caught with no way to eascape and then next week they somehow have. (Thats the River Song bit)

Ha! 'Open the library doors' Excellent reference back to last years season opener. (blimey, I said season instead of series. Hell just froze over).

  14. Any thoughts on the new series, gang? Apart from 'it's confusing as hell right now?' Don't get me wrong, I'm still loving it, but my kid is getting bored watching it the first time around. He's watched both episodes again and got more out of it, but Who needs to be more immediate and appealing to the younger audience.
