  1. I'd buy a few, also.

I've stayed around 3-5 on the troop builders, mostly because of cost/availability of some of the older ones. I do have 6 Hellfire Guards (one that would lend itself to a good Battle Damaged version ala issue 133), but one of those will get a Cannonball head (if it's a plain head sans goggles) once that set comes out.

As much as I like the generic Marvel army builders, I recently was able to get a hold of 5 borg drones which I'll hopefully be able to customize into a small army with a few variations.

  2. Did he have 4 fingers or 5?

Do you mean--did he have 4 fingers plus a thumb or 5 fingers and no thumb? Only Rob Liefeld knows for sure.

That's my point! No one knows but ROB!

But, if we ever DO get a Shatterstar minimate, with the normal "melded" fingers, it'll be comic-accurate for everyone!

  3. I think the last X-Force issue I read had something to do with figuring out/ironing out Shatterstar's origin... was he from the Mojo universe? Did he have 4 fingers or 5? Anyway, while I don't read the current series, these appear to be interesting versions of the characters. Maybe they can be the Double-super-secret-agent X-Men team.

  4. The Holy Grail that I am in search of is the "Holy Grail". I just can't seem to find the damn thing. My crazy dad has been doing grail research and keeping notes in a diary for most of his life. He found half of an old dusty stone tablet and then he just freaking vanished, leaving me his damn diary. I had to fly my ass all the way to Venice and wade through waist-deep human excrement in a sewer. Somehow I discovered the tomb of Sir Richard, a knight of the First Crusade, with a complete version of the stone tablet on his shield (which seems like a terrible place for it, I mean, shields get scratched to hell in battle). Just after I traced a copy of the shield, the whole damn place was suddenly on fire. Some crazy secret society called The Brotherhood of the Cruciform Sword was trying to kill me. I got the hell out of the sewer and stole a speedboat. Those crazy bastards also hopped into speedboats and started chasing me through Venice. But I opened a can of whoop ass and captured the secret society's leader. He told me that my dad was abducted to a Grünwald castle on the Austrian-German border. Shit. Now what the hell am I supposed to do?

It sucks being a collector sometimes. :(

Just me talkin' here, but I'd go after him at the castle... just make sure you can speak in the absolute worst Scottish accent ever heard by man. You're gonna need that to get past the guard. It'll work, trust me.

  5. I am a bit surprised that DST aren't going after Alpha Flight first, though. The characters look more distinctive, and are probably more recognizable.

I guess it'll depend on how these are executed: I'll be somewhat disappointed if these are new heads on Classic X-Men bodies. Wolfsbane? Classic Jean Grey, Phoenix variant hair sans ponytail...blah!

Let's get the Liefield costumes (yeah, I said it) for Cannonball and Sunspot, at least.

  6. I agree, as long as we see the quality (and accessories), I'm okay with a price hike. Heck, while you're at it, make each head with 2 different expressions (like the old Buffy Palz). Let's see more bases (like Phoenix or gitd Slimer) and flight stands, too.

Grandpa Simpson said it best, when walking into the Social Security office: "I'm old! Gimme! Gimme! Gimme!"

  7. So it's basically 2 different business models competing. GB is mostly TRU... there are no 2-packs hitting the LCS's, so if you want them, you HAVE to get them at TRU. Marvel, you get a choice, at least on the LCS packs with the major characters. (can't picture a kid in TRU saying "Look, mommy! It's from the Iron Man movie! I want the secretary and the driver!")

With Marvel, DST has an opportunity to dip into the potential market of those who may never go to comic shops. The packs that fill up most of the cases at TRU have the "potential" to attract casual or new buyers (Wolverine, Thor, Cap, Iron Man, Spidey). Even in the IM2 TRU cases, the LCS packs are the ones with the major characters from the movie.

While the search for the Marvel exclusives have been a pain at times, GB has always been more readily available. If TRU became the SOLE distributor of Marvel 2-packs (everything is an exclusive), then I believe we'd get less product overall, and the figures would be even harder to find.

  8. Okay, since this is a Marvel thread, and Disney bought Marvel, and Disney owns...

    Gargoyles!

    Goliath

    Demona

    Elisa Maza

    Lexington

and the TRU packs: Xanatos/Brooklyn; Hudson/Bronx

(with the GB terror dog feet and Lady Deathstryke hands, these have been on my "want" list for some time)

  9. HRG you huntin' in my woods? without permission? That's just low. :P When were you through Knoxville? I know one of the two stores had gotten a second run of Wave 7 were you able to grab the exclusives?

Was in Knoxville yesterday morning, and stopped at a TRU in the same shopping center as a Barnes and Noble. They still had 2 sets of the exclusives when I left (I already have the exclusives for myself and my overseas adoptees), though the hulkbuster packs were hidden on the opposite side of the aisle (I relocated them to their proper home).

Hunting? Yep! Poachin'? Nope. There'll all right where I found them. I was actually hoping to find some BSG Stealth Cylon packs on my journey to Little Rock. Found series 7 also in Nashville, left them there, too.

Maybe these are finally starting to make it to stores? Maybe when Wave 8 hits pegs, we'll be moaning about all the Lockjaw and Hulkbuster sets taking up peg space?

  10. Found this wave today, but the Lockjaw and Hulkbuster packs were already gone. Hopefully we see more in my area since I'd really like to get Lockjaw.

If this was the Carmia Parkway store, I apologize for grabbing both sets last Wednesday; I've "adopted" a board member in the UK. From what I can tell, though, the Southpark Mall store still hasn't gotten these in yet.

I still see the exclusives from the last wave at some of the stores, so I'm hoping these will at some pint be equally abundant.

  11. Among the 3 in my general area (central VA), I have seen about 50 BSG packs, maybe 10 flyers. I've only seen one lone T2 pack, and it wasn't the SWAT pack. My most recent run yesterday, all that's left are a few Ellen/Simon packs.

Hopefully, one day, we'll see clearance prices on Ghostbuster packs. From an army builder point of view, the theater ghost and subway ghosts would make great minions of Dormammu, and Vigo is a great base for Asgardian warriors.

  12. Okay, have one pic from my phone, and it's grainy, but shows the 2 that I think are the most exciting of the lot. The Statue of Liberty's torch and tablet are part of the hands, and no normal hands are included. There is a tampo underneath her robe, but I'll not spoil the surprise. The subway ghost is great, the head reminds me of the Cthulu. The tail is pretty cool, too.

  13. I'm looking for the six-digit number from the receipt? The clerks seem to have an easier time looking stuff up with that.

Unfortuantely, the SKU# was not on my receipt. Each pack was listed idividually with it's corresponding UPC#. This was the case for both the Ghostbusters as well as the Galactica minimates on the same ticket, though I know that when I purchased the same Galactica minimates when they first came out, the SKU# was on that receipt.
