Hi Chuck, the latest assortment of Aliens is one of my favorites. Mixing “Resurrection” with “Alien 3” and tacking on “Isolation” is terrific, especially with all the Xenos in there.
Will we be seeing more Minimates from these corners of the franchise? My penal colony could use more inmates, my Betty needs a full crew, and though I’ve never played it I love the character designs from that video game. (And please, figure out a way to get that Dropship to us. I’d buy more than one!)
Thanks and have a successful SDCC!

DSTChuck: I am glad you like the series! I know the team really wants to do the dropship, but I do not think it is possible for now.

DST has given fans the most complete lineup of characters from Aliens courtesy of the Minimates line. This fact, however, makes the absence of a non-mutilated Bishop quite noticeable. How soon can we expect to add this main character to our collections?

DSTChuck: Glad you have enjoyed them. When we set out on that line and Predator, we planned to have as well-rounded a line as possible. We have looked into ideas to get a new Bishop out, so we’ll have to see.

And then, to my surprise! From yours truly. I'd forgotten I'd sent this. :)

All I really want to know is what’s next for Aliens? XD But, while I’m at it… Have you ever considered using the license for statues? (Or is that a license issue with other licensees?) Koto have done some wonderfully rendered ones, but their choice of poses leaves a lot to be desired, particularly their Dog Alien (I can’t reconcile buying it, it’s just too odd/unflattering.)
Also, have you ever considered playsets/dioramas for Minimates? Or does that cross into different territory again, with licensing issues?
    Wishlist to “complete” Aliens Minimates:
    Cpl.Ferro
    “Clean” Bishop
Dropships, for the above (the two variants from the movie).
    Queen with egg sack
    Dream list:
    USS Sulaco
    Hive diorama, with victims
    Atmosphere Processor light up model

DSTChuck: Statues and figures for Aliens are not available to us. We’d love to have a shot at more Aliens categories. We have looked at playsets for Minimates, but the demand has not been there.

It still seems luke-warm on the final figures (excuse the self pun). But hope remains. Always delighted to be answered. :)

I was disappointed not to see any new Alien stuff at NYTF too. But there's still hope according to this:

The latest TRU series of Predator Minimates has been hitting shelves and the new Predators look AMAZING in person. Are there plans to release any Alien Minimates in this same Kenner inspired style, Xenos or humans?
Also on the subject of Aliens Minimates, any news for those of us desperately needing Ferro and a “clean” Bishop to fill out our USCM ranks? Either with or without the Dropship?
And the same question on the rest of the “Lost Tribe” from Predator 2? We’re just 2 Predators short of finishing that group as well.
What is the possibility of seeing some Dark Horse Comics inspired figures in either of these lines? Are the AvP titled comics (not related to the films) included in your license? If so Machiko would make a very cool Minimate…
Finally, is the next series in the Predator line still “The Predator”? Or will we see something before to tide us over until then?

DSTChuck: We have talked about some Kenner inspired Aliens, so we’ll have to see what the future holds. I think as of recently we were still hoping to be able to find a way to do a drop ship. For Predator we’d love nothing more than to keep going, the sales for the line are slowing, but we’ll see what we can do. There has been a delay in the release date for the new movie, but I still think that will be next.

I submitted a similar question myself the other day. Here's hoping for something on Alien day. :D

It'd be a great shame to come so close to completing the line only to faulter at the last two characters. (Already done Bishop I know, but clean).

Of course, I'd still dream of seeing a Queen with egg sack. A hive diorama. Coocooned victims. Scuttling facehuggers. A Sulaco.

Advanced and Resurrection are definitely Kenner-inspired. Not looking to do any subtle tinting of existing colors (Isolation motwithstanding) because it would be a missed opportunity to do something distinctively different. New tooling was not possible this rotund, but we'll see what the future holds.

    s-l225.jpg

That's fair enough, I know a lot of people are excited by the Kenner style stuff, just not my bag. I'll always buy a set that includes a movie/canon accurate figure though, so I'll still be buying all these sets.

It's been a fantastic line so far!

  5. Sweet! Been waiting for an Alien Minimate fix!

I'm hoping the choice shown here does mean we can expect more from other sources/retailers. The missing obvious ones being Ripley 8 and the Newborn, from Resurrection. And the Dog Alien for Alien 3. A few Working Joe androids from Isolation would be sweet too, but I'm pleased with enough with Amanda.

In terms of the Aliens in this wave, I do wish the Res' Warrior wasn't so Kenner red, the Isolation Alien's colour scheme looks more appropriate to my eye. I've seen statues depicting the Res' Warrior looking very red, but it always struck me as more of a subtle brown tint, if anything. I have no idea what the "Advanced" alien is supposed to be, but I'm aware of the need to make the sets appealing to the wider market, so I chalk it up to that. I'll still get it for Johner.

Hoping we see even more at Toyfair! :D

The one Predator Minimate I really wish DST would offer is the chopper pilot played by the late Kevin Peter Hall, the man who also played the Predator. If they could figure out a way to sneak him into an assortment (maybe with a chopper!) that'd be super.

And this! A chopper would be cool, plus the Huey has featured in many things, good for reuse. You could probably squeeze in the General too.

Ferro with dropship for specialty & clean Bishop with dropship for TRU just plans itself. C'moooooonnnnnn......

I'm sure this must be the plan. Too coincidental not to be. They're the two last figures to complete the set. And there are two dropships. They are the pilots. Each dropship has it's own distinct nose art and markings (easy repaint). One for specialty, one for TRU, as you say, just like with the APCs.

After this the only thing I really really would wish for is an Alien Queen with Egg Sack. I'm wanting this from anyone DST, NECA, Sideshow (although that'd be murder on the wallet).

Surely MM has the best chance, for price point, comparitive ease of design/manufacture. It'd also be a nice size for collectors. (Although I'll find space if another company manages it. :))

Greetings Chuck! I haven’t been collecting Minimates for very long, but after I saw your Aliens line, I fell in love. I just had a few questions:
    1. Is there any possibility of Alien: Isolation Minimates? (Amanda Ripley, Working Joes, Sevastopol Survivors, and of course The Alien are a few figures that come to mind.) or is it completely out of the question?
    2. Have there been any discussions about obtaining the license to AVP or is it not one you’re particularly interested in?
    3. Finally I was wondering about Alien 3 and Prometheus Minimates? (The only examples I could think of at the moment are The Dog Alien, a Weyland-Yutani Commando, The Deacon, and an Engineer.)
Thank you for your time and making these fun little collectibles!

    DSTChuck: Welcome to Minimates, Kolton!
    1. We have not locked what we want to do with Aliens MM for 2018 yet, but Alien: Isolation has come up as a possibility. Fingers crossed!
    2. We have held the AvP license in the past for various products, but we have not looked at it for Minimates.
    3. We did a “flashback” Shaw Minimate in the Covenant line, but right now we have no plans for more Prometheus Minimates, sorry. We’ve been looking at introducing some characters from Alien 3 and Alien: Resurrection, though!

    Billy G.
Will the ALIENS line of Minimates ever be completed? Every character has been accounted for except Corporal Ferro. Is it possible she will be released with a dropship or will she appear on her own? P.S. A version of her with and without her aviator glasses would be cool. Thanks.

DSTChuck: She is definitely someone we would like to do, and have even had tentative plans to make, but we’ll have to see! More Alien universe MM coming, for sure.

Didn't think we were going to get Alien 3! Woot!

Well that's not going to keep us from speculating wildly, leading to crushing disappointment.

I want more minimate ships (and minimates).

    Abrams Enterprise
    USS Vengeance
    Spock's Jellyfish
    First Contact Enterprise E
    Borg Cube, and Sphere
    Voyager
    TNG Enterprise D

The style and price point would appeal to even non-minimate collectors. Big ships are cool, without doubt, but I'd love to have a set of mini ships on my shelf/desk. Often, accurately depicted, small scale ships lose a lot to poor paint apps and limitations in detail due to scale. But stylised ones can have crisp paint apps, and accentuate the best features.

(Can't wait for mini Aliens dropship! :D:D:D:pray: )

I'd take a Pizza Monster in the TMNT line, not interested in another Xeno repaint in the Alien line, or at least not this one.

Yes, do it properly if at all. Disappointed in the Neca figure. It's a figure in limbo, of true appeal to neither fandom. Waste of an exclusive slot, for the sake of saving money.

Hi Chuck! Firstly, I have to applaud your Aliens line. When I saw the depth and breadth of characters you are producing you converted me to Minimates. I now own every one you’ve produced, as well as many of the equally impressive Predator series. And now I’ve got the bug I’m wanting all my favorite franchises in Minimate form!
    My questions are:
For the Aliens line, what are the chances we might get a Queen Hive set? It would be the ultimate! Has it been considered? Also, Dropships. A Sulaco?! And the last remaining cast members. I keenly await anything Alien you produce!
And for Star Trek, chances of Abrams line? Into Darkness is my favorite, and I’ve noticed a lack of in scale Enterprise and USS Vengeance models. I’d love both MM and/or regular larger scale versions. To recreate that epic head to head confrontation scene!
    (Other dreams (for M
M or any) include Bioshock, Dead Space, Legacy Tomb Raider, Left 4 Dead, C&C Red Alert 2 (so many vehicles!), Starship Troopers, Tremors, Call of Duty (Modern Warfare), more Mass Effect (Normandy ship), … everything!)
    Thanks!

DSTChuck: Luke, glad you like the Alien and Predator lines. I think we’d like to do more deluxe sets and vehicles, we’ll just have to see how the ones we have done sell. We do not have the rights to the new Star Trek movies, unfortunately, and we are not looking at any of the other properties you are hoping for, but never say never.

Pretty much what we already know.. Need to see how sales go, but the desire is there! Thanks Chuck!
Come on world! We need those sets!

    Hey MMU members,

I've recently started to expand my collection of minimates from the Halo line.

I've read quite extensively here, and around the web. I was wondering, in the end..  Did/has anyone attempted customs of flood, or Grunts? I know it seems many seek out the Halo Megabloks figures to fill the gaps in this line.. Grunts and Flood especially.

It'd be cool to see anyone's customs, and or some comparison picks showing MegaBloks grunts alongside Minimate figures.

SORRY if this topic popping up gets anyone's hopes up!
I doubt now if there will ever be any more Halo MMs, seeing as the brand seems in decline, after Halo 4, then 5 slowly killing off enthusiasm.
