  1. I'm with you. I've already made the ff with different powers from issue 6, but I'd love to see more.

Sweet do you have any pics? I can't customise for crap, but its something I'm going to start getting into, I watched Luke's start to finish customisation video on youtube and it inspired me, I just need to find some free time to sit down and practice.

  2. I was sat reading a couple of my What If? Classic trades the other night and it got me thinking about how cool a series, or even just a box set, of What If? MiniMates would be.

To my recollection the only What If? figures produced have been of Spider-Girl (she first appeared in What If? #105 then later span out into an entire range of comics originally known as MC2), which seems odd considering how toy companies love to put out variations on favourite characters.

So with that in mind I thought I'd see if anyone else felt the same way and would also like to see some What If? MiniMates, and if there seems to be any desire I'd put it forward to Diamond.

Some What If? characters I'd like to see are:

Poison from What If? Spider-Man The Other.

Rogue-Thor from What If Rogue Possessed The Power of Thor?.

The Fantastic Four Mike Weiringo tribute issue that contained an FF consisting of Spider-Man, Grey Hulk, Wolverine and Iron Man.

What If the Venom Symbiote Possessed Deadpool?.

What If Wolverine was Lord of the Vampires?.

What If Barbara Ketch Had Become Ghost Rider.

But there are so many more great ones, so what do people think, is it something you'd like to see, or am I completely off the ball?.

Thanks for any comments or suggestions guys.

  3. Marvel owns those comic Title Names and it makes sense from a marketing and investment perspective to continue to bring awareness to the same "brand names". But I disagree with your comparison. The new X-Force continues to be consistently feature a dynamic group of characters that do assassinations or other "dirty work" the public facing X-Teams can't pull off with so much attention. Great book these many past several years and it deserves recognition.

A better comparison would be Batman and Detective Comics, or Amazing Spiderman and Spectacular Spiderman

I assume you're referring to my post? and my comparison is perfectly valid as Uncanny X-Force is nothing like the original X-Force (90's) title, I'm well aware of the quality of the current incarnation but you can't deny they are in no way similar.

  4. "Punisher Venom" is the Flash Thompson version that BarRoom described.

The female looks like "She-Venom", Anne Weying, Eddie's Ex-Wife. She ever so briefly became the "other"'s host after she was shot by Sin-Eater and Eddie asked the Symbiote to save her life. Between this and a second later temporary bonding, She-Venom racked up quite a little body count. Anne was so disturbed by the experience she commits suicide.

Didn't it bond with her in Venom: Along Came A Spider as well?

  5. Maybe I'm just spoilt by Minimates and Mega Bloks renditions but these look ridiculous, bobble head iron man? some sort of emo hulk? I'll be steering my nephew clear of these, although I will have to purchase a video game if they make one, my partner collects lego video games (and I don't mind them all that much to be honest).

I help out at my nephews school every week for a few hours, supervising/encouraging kids to play with lego, but all the stuff they have is oooooold and it's much better for playing with, I'm just not into lego's current output.

  6. I'm not agains Kubricks per se, its more that its a pain getting hold of them, it would be good to see how the capcom stuff fares though, a megaman line would be pretty sweet, which at the end of the day is just capcom's version of astro boy in a sense.

  7. That's a shame I would have loved, say, 3 box sets based on the Messiah trilogy, Lets say:

    Messiah Complex:

    .Cable with baby Hope.

.Layla Miller with the M branding

    .Forge

    .Exodus

(and Predator X if it was anywhere near possible)

    Messiah War:

    .Pre-teen Hope.

    .Stryfe.

.Bishop with his crazy big cybernetic arm.

    and either.

    .Future Deadpool

    or

    .Future Apocalypse

    Second Coming:

    .Teen Hope

    .Bastion (winged version)

    .Modern Cyclops

    .Modern Rogue

    Guess I'll just keep dreaming.

  8. I'd really like a Generation X wave or Boxset, I was too young to really appreciate the New Mutants, so Gen X was more my speed. Character wise how about:

    .M

    .Husk

    .Skin

    .Chamber

.Jubilee (although I suppose I could live without a 3rd Jubilation 'mate)

(all the above in their original Gen X costumes)

    .Banshee

    .Emplate

  9. They also released them as Ultimate and Absolute collections, respectively. However, just because they're trying to make money still of the books, doesn't mean they've embraced them.

I don't know, Fantomex, Ultimaton and the World have all played a large part of Uncanny X-Force, and a lot of the more interesting aspects of his run have stuck, I suppose its one of those things that divided fans too much, personally I loved it, but I can see why traditionalists wouldn't.

Zach, how much imput does Marvel give you guys? I've always been of the assumption that Quesada and company want to distance themselves from Morrison's X-Men, and so they'd be unlikely to approve new products based on those comics.

They approve all of our line plans, but as far as I know, there is only one are of Marveldom they are no longer interested in making merchandise for, and that's zombies. Beyond that, I have heard no restrictions. So Ask DST to complete your Morrison team, and see what Chuck says!

Did Headpool not count as a zombie? I suppose he has sort of transcended the hunger. Shame I'd love me some more undead heroes. On a side note is there a chance there would be any more Age of Apocalypse minimates? that is my favorite sub-line ever.

  10. Think you might have to custom them up yourself, boyd

i don't think DST is gonna re-visit the morrison/darktide era any time soon.

(although - i confess to wanting them as well)

You guys should plead your case to Ask DST. If we can make '90s X-Force members, why not '00s X-Men?

Zach, how much imput does Marvel give you guys? I've always been of the assumption that Quesada and company want to distance themselves from Morrison's X-Men, and so they'd be unlikely to approve new products based on those comics.

I was browsing the trades and graphic novels of my local comic book shop the other day and noticed that the new X-Men run had been reissued in the smaller (marvel noir-size) digests, so I don't think Marvel want to completely distance themselves from Morrison's run.

  11. Awesome selections, I only recently got Mr.Sinister in my Minimates and he's one of the real standouts, Minimates in general i've always thought for their own small stature are actually high quality figures, i know some people have had some QC issues but unless i've missed a massive batch of bad ones compared to the QC issues plaguing other lines i've always been really impressed with them.

It would of been nice to see Doomsday in Minimate form, i've checked the database and he doesn't seem to of been made.

    Something like this>

    2520941351_b590277188.jpg

But just scaled down would of been perfect.

Doomsay would have been an awesome 'mate, I'm still annoyed that only 2 of the death/return of superman characters got "mated", I would have loved an eradicator, superboy and black suited superman too.

In terms of Q.C. Issues, I've had a few myself, to left arms, two left hands, two right legs with one tampo'd back to front, loose joints, warped blasty stands, paint errors etc...... But I don't let it put me off, honestly if I could go back in time and tell my 15 year old self that one day there would be such a wide and varied range of figures as minimates I think my little head would have popped.

If I could chose any characters I wanted to be "mated" I'd go with gravity, x-man, xorn, onslaught, more AOA characters (colossus, iceman, mikhail, abyss, havok) and Invincible.
