One of my earliest "hoarding of hordes " was the 'Tower Records' Super Skull/ Thing exclusive .  The Skrull is still one of my favourite 'mates whilst the Clobberin' Time Thing remains, IMHO , awful .   

I'm uncertain but isn't the Tower Records logged promo THE first Minimate ?   While I'm at it I'm pretty sure there were 2 differently coloured bags ...same 'mate different bags*

Oh man! Clobberin' Thing came with a cigar! Try to get that one through brand approvals today. Tiniest accessory ever, AFAIK.

I love this thread got resurrected after 18 years. Weren’t the first box set of GSM X-Men a tower exclusive or did I just buy them there?

i remember getting the sauron and the super skrull/thing.  not sure if i kept the thing but i still have the super skrull and the sauron.

wasn't sure if there were any other characters exclusive to them.  

i found the promo on ebay for $10 so i went ahead and ordered it.

my guess on the very first minimate is going to be the art asylum promo one they handed out at NYTF -- not sure what year.

but my place of employment had an account with them and my boss brought back a bag of goodies and that was in there and i grabbed it.  i was really into kubricks at the time so it was right along my level of interest.  then i got the rob zombie one at spencers in the mall.  i was more pleased with the line when they switched to the smaller format.

Man, Tower was such a great store. I even managed a different record store and still shopped there because the selection was so good and they had so much that we couldn't get.
