Liney Posted November 29 Posted November 29 I recently dug out my box of minimates and noticed a couple of things: Some of them a sticky - varying from lightly tacky, to half eaten jolly rancher 🤢 Its mostly older mates, but not always. I assume this is to do with plastic breaking down, and is hopefully fixed with some warm soapy water? Colour bleed - I think this is a well know issue. Especially white parts - AXM Emma, I'm looking at you (she's more now the yellow queen). Vindicators red visor has bled through the white paint and in now the whole thing is pink. Can anything be done about this? The mask I think can just be repainted All suggestions welcome! Quote
Shanester Posted Monday at 06:41 PM Posted Monday at 06:41 PM I used some rubbing alcohol on my "sticky mates" and it worked well. Quote
Trekker 42 Posted Monday at 06:49 PM Posted Monday at 06:49 PM 1. Don’t say sticky mates 3. The red visor was pink from the moment I got that thing. Cursed from the beginning. Quote
buttheadsmate Posted Monday at 07:21 PM Posted Monday at 07:21 PM Rubbing alcohol is perhaps known best in the UK as IPA (Isopropyl Alcohol) ....a ready-to-hand source of this is windscreen de-icer , perhaps diluted with some water. Quote
Liney Posted Tuesday at 06:09 PM Author Posted Tuesday at 06:09 PM Thanks guys - it sounds like its IPA FTW. There doesn't seem to be any pattern to which bits get tacky either. Quote
Modefan Posted Tuesday at 11:29 PM Posted Tuesday at 11:29 PM Clear figures seem to be the worst for the sticky residue Quote

I have no idea why they are so popular in the U.S. IPA.avif Quote
buttheadsmate Posted Wednesday at 09:20 AM Posted Wednesday at 09:20 AM As I'm sure you know India Pale Ale (IPA) was originally a beer that was traditionally brewed with a higher alcohol content to survive the long exportation journey from Great Britain to India or wherever .  TBQH these days IPA seems to have become merely a marketing tool .  In all honesty I wouldn't mind betting that that can of Firestone Mind Haze will probably unsticky just about anything ....I remember when Firestone made tyres [sic] . My first real acquaintance with US beer (80s) wasn't too favourable , Bud,Coors & their like were obviously an acquired taste ....however ..HOWEVER having tried several US- made beers on my last visits to the US (especially Chicago) things can change dramatically for the better , beers to be proud of . If I collected beer cans for a hobby I'd definitely be an 'opener' . -budsdeadmate  Quote
nandoninny Posted Wednesday at 02:49 PM Posted Wednesday at 02:49 PM i was never a big beer guy until covid. last night i actually dreampt that i had a case of dark stout beer that i had missplaced and was trying to find. i was able to get one bottle back but then had it snatched from me and the dream was spent trying to track down that bottle so i could at least try the beer.  if you're ever in Texas i HIGHLY recommend finding some St. Arnolds and/or Brash beer. very good micro brews.
