Invisible Man we did prior to really breaking the characters into groups and waves. We tried to fit him into TRU but it didn’t work out. He made it to casting and paints, but I don’t believe he was tooled. He was kept as a third wave anchor, but TRU didn’t ask for more. Metaluna would have been part of that, but we never got the go ahead to develop the third wave. i haven’t shown the design yet, it was primarily Uriel’s. I still have to process all of the art that I was not the lead on, there’s so much still to go through. Quote

No, actually. Robert and I tried to get the others in a few different waves, but the lineplan wasn't approved. Eventually, it just felt that the other 3 members were so long ago that it wasn't worth going back to. Quote

Barry Posted September 28 Author Posted September 28 I think Cyclops was the only one up front because it was a Fan Poll. Colossus and Emma made it out almost 2 years later, which at that point no one was thinking about the story anymore. Namor and Magik then didn't make it at all since the story was long over at that point. Also, at the time, Magik was not nearly as popular as she is now. If she had been, I think she would have been higher on the priority list. Maybe replacing Colossus, but that's just me thinking about it right now. In hindsight, maybe the AvX set should have been followed by a Phoenix Five 4pack (weird to say) to get the rest of the members if you wanted them, but "Editorial" sets (as they were called, ones that were directly associated with a storyline that was currently in active promotion) were a difficult beast to manage. Invaders was a low-tool wave, with a handful of new parts squeezed into a another tool from another wave (possibly another licence). We couldn't have a new tool of it's own for this set in order to keep costs down. So, we made Cap's new mask, Golden Age shield, and shield harness, because we knew we'd be using them again. The trident we couldn't fit in the shared tool, and at the time, part of the DC deal was not to have any parts that were new for a DC character show up in a non-DC licence. Alas, we couldn't reuse Aquaman's trident, and we couldn't make a new one. Over time, that rule relaxed a bit, which is why we could get it into TRU 8. Quote
