I know I don't have much to say about Minimates any more, but I still find myself typing "unread" into my browser address bar every time I log on. (It autofills "Unread content" and the MMMV web address, and has become a habit.) I still love coming here, so hopefully I can continue to hang out and maybe share some formerly top-secret things, like unmade designs and even unmade prototypes. (I have some!) The things I would have done for the Jon Talbain prototype... And for the Echo hair... (Sorry for the extra messages, removed them, they were not showing up on my phone...) buttheadsmate Posted May 22 Posted May 22 'Ad Populum' are the new owners of Diamond . I was actually forced to study Latin at school & I don't pretend for a second that I knew what 'Ad Populum' means . Google it ,it's quite ironic . Quote

SCW Posted May 23 Posted May 23 Looks like they’ve stopped taking orders and are tinkering around with the website, including leaving big patches of Lorem ipsum floating around. Not sure if this is a good or a bad thing TBH. Quote
Turtle Posted May 23 Posted May 23 I don't collect minimates anymore, but I absolutely hate to hear about how this has affected folks. I hope Zach and others are able to bounce back quickly from such a jarring life change. Best of luck. Quote
Shanester Posted May 23 Posted May 23 Test shots, paint masters, resin protos, etc. I love seeing them and get very envious that I don't own them. Even artwork is so awesome to see. I look forward to the postings of a "no longer hindered" Zach. Quote
Ivan Posted May 25 Posted May 25 I'm late hearing the news, but I've got to echo the unanimous sentiment here. This really sucks. DST was the only company I felt a loyalty toward. Partly because of the product, but mostly because of the people that worked there. It was clear they cared about the product and the fans. They deserved to be treated better than this. I look forward to seeing how everyone bounces back. Quote

AugieWargo Posted May 27 Posted May 27 Sorry for the turn of events. I hope everyone affected recovers from it quickly. Minimates were the one toy line I collected seriously. I started buying them while I was battling cancer. They were a fun little distraction for all the awfulness at the time, but in the end it's just a toy line. It's the people that matter. I hope everyone who worked there is alright. Thank you @DSTZach for keeping us up to date and informed for so many years. Quote
MiniMilner Posted May 27 Posted May 27 I don’t collect Minimates anymore but I still have my huge collection of them. It was a fantastic toyline indeed and I absolutely enjoyed my time collecting and displaying them. I hope everyone at DST land on there feet and find work asap, great team and we wouldn’t have communities like this had it not been for the minimates line. it will be missed Quote

buttheadsmate Posted May 27 Posted May 27 It would make no cents (sic) or dollars if the new owners of the Minimate line just let it die . I'd agree with anyone that says that 'things will never be the same' but the Minimate line has a value & the new owners are going to squeeze the juice out of it including the pips . Let the dust settle. butt-thinks-with-his-head-not-his-heart-mate Quote

DSTZach Posted May 27 Posted May 27 I have no sordid stories to share. And I also hope that Minimates will continue, I think there is some movement behind the scenes to bring them back, but I am not privy to anything. It would nice to be involved. Quote

Shotgun is from a Terminator Sarah Connor, IIRC, and the web gear is from Ripley from Aliens. I like the urban Flint, so I used Falcon from Winter Soldier's legs, I think. Rifle, gloves, from parts bin. Torso, some civvie body or maybe from 24, and the short sleeves are from Hawkeye. I think I am going to add 'glove' wrist pieces to the arms to be the 'rolled-up' parts to upgrade. IF YOU WANT FLINT TO FEEL BULKIER, Blonsky's chest from the Incredible Hulk movie minimate also works! For Jaye, I went with her Devil's Due midriff look, and since I like the Latin/Scottish heritage of Jaye, I used Rosita from Walking Dead for the chest, plus old Predator parts for the legs, weapons and gear; spear, IIRC, is from a Battle Beast? May need to look that up; her hair is from Ripley from Aliens. If you want a more 'classic' Jaye with the green jumpsuit, try Battlestar Galacta minimates! Edited May 27 by Navaan Quote

My dream is to see rad AF horror, Robocop, or Jaws sets hit target shelves next year. It feels dire right now, but I'm still clinging to that hope that things will rebound. Quote
Strider Posted May 28 Posted May 28 Jaws definitely came to mind. They could probably get away with finally making a Brody figure. Quote
