I think you nailed it perfectly! I am hesitant as I hate blind bags but I hate the mini figure desert we are in even more. It's like any port in a storm...

Those who buy blind bags are asking to be sold even more of them. Just say NO! :)

There should be a new DARE campaign about blind bag toys

(I am soooo dating myself with this reference, lol)

For the record I have a set of Spawn kubricks which I cherish . These things don't grab me but it is interesting (to me) that they have to be constructed ....is that a marketing move or a way of keeping the price down ?

the Spawn Kubrick was AWESOME! That cape was absolutely amazing!

Isn't the "need to be constructed" thing also some kind of copywrite? Isn't that why minimates had to stop marketing as swappable parts? I recall reading something about this and there was a bit of a surprise that this language stayed on the boxes longer than anyone at DST realized. Did I get this wrong?

I don't think swappable parts could possibly be subject to any kind of IP law. It's such a common and generic feature inherent to so many toys.

Seems to me more likely some licensors might have objected. Like Marvel not wanting it suggested to put Spidey's head on Supes, for example. Or, any comic line wanting to discourage part swaps with Silence of the Lambs. LOL Martian Maneater anyone? Green Lecter. Hannibal the Cannonball. :)

Ugh.  In addition to blind bags it's blank bodies with stickers.  Yuck.

I was thinking that too. I think it also makes it easier to scan the stickers to then print other torsos on them in the exact size on some other label/sticker paper. The real problem is hairpieces/accessories

That an interesting development - I always take a scan of any stickers or decals things come with, just in case I mess them up

Zach , I'd convinced myself that I was losing my mind but I've steadied myself & checked the DST website for Minimates.

The latest pre-order for Marvel Spider-Verse Minimates clearly states that they have interchangeable parts.

In your post you say that you don't market them (Minimates) as having interchangeable parts ?

I am perhaps realising however that (for a considerable time) DST hasn't actively marketed Marvel Minimates as having interchangeable parts ?

Who knew ?

One of those interchangeable moments

That might actually be nice for customizers in some cases.

Just trying to think of something nice as I've been so negative. :)

Sooooo, I got my set and it took me some time to get myself open them, honestly. But, there is a bright side. The figures are smaller than minimates and a bit chunkier. The accessories don't fit, neither do the wrist pegs. They don'f fit on the Spawn set either, honestly. The human figures look like trash. The box was veeeery classic Spawn heavy.

The stickers, though, are pretty great!

Standard minimate on the left, Spawn figure on the right, Miles Morales cosplaying Spawn in the center. The stickers fit really well! (just noticed I have to tamp down the edges a bit better). The face sticker fit perfectly. So did the belt sticker. The chest sticker is tapered into a V-shape is just a touch to big at the top. The arm and leg stickers are a nice size to wrap around.

Here is a better view of Spawn

I did have to use a bit of tape on the back of the head to get the collar to stand up. Going to dig out a spare Gladiator (or maybe Kaine) to see how the cape fits.

Not a perfect figure but a bit of a silver lining.
