Here’s a stupid question, did the D&D set get tooled?

yes I know, play stupid games, win stupid prizes but I figured there is no where to go once you hit rock bottom so why not ask.

At this point I’d say it’s safe to assume nothing got started on anything preordered.

What confuses me about the "nothing got tooled" or "tooling hadn't started" part, is that we've seen some of these in a case or pictured right? We've seen Inferno in a glass case at a Con right next to Planet of the Apes? We've seen at least the prototypes posed in photos for both D&D, and Sinister Six?

So if tooling was never done, then where did these figures we've seen go or come from?

Prototypes not created for mass distribution. So some of them have parts probably were sculpted or 3D printed as tests.

Yeah, it might be a question for Barry, but any new parts were likely digitally sculpted and 3-D printed for the painter (Boyd or Lobsterman) -- I don't think the parts were tooled prior to painted prototypes being created.

Yes, all new parts were originally resin cast, over time they were eventually 3D printed, and shipped out to Boyd or Lobsterman for paints.  The parts on a paint master that would have been production plastic were reused parts taken from existing figures.

Just got a refund on my New Fantastic Four box set from Luke.

Such a damn shame that it's all over now. I can't believe this is it.

IDK why, but I really never imagined Minimates would discontinue.

I'm hoping this is a hiatus and not a discontinuation. "Hoping" is doing alot of heavy lifting in this sentence, BTW

"Diamond Comics Sells Diamond UK for over $2 million to..... Diamond UK " is the Bleeding Cool headline from a week ago.

My synopsis of this is that the old management team of Diamond Comics UK is now the owner of the new company !

In my own cynical opinion .....that's the way these things often work out .;)

I did. It was my pre-order being canceled.

😭

That's Randy getting bloodied. He's not down yet.

I'll admit things have looked better though. :)

I feel like it's worth pointing out, GI Joe has ended and started at least five times.

Transformers was saved by Beast Wars only for those characters to be forgotten and then come back throughout the line.

MASK is having a 40th anniversary.

Furbies, My Little Ponies, Magic, DnD, SO MUCH ebbs and flows.

This is only the end if we let it be.

Keep. Circulating. The tapes.

This.

Mego was dormant for 30 years or something and there have been more Mego figures in the last decade than during the heyday of the brand.

Same for Super Powers.

Minimates are infinitely more customizable than those. Luke has shown us the way. His upcoming DC stuff is better than most the stuff DST was doing.

My favorite MM figure in recent years was a simple Rocketeer custom I made with a little help from 3D printing. Because DST was too dumb to make a Rocketeer Minimate.

Hopefully the brand comes back and this is only a momentary setback, but the best way to keep the brand alive is to show there’s still a vibrant community out there doing things with it.

Fuck, how the hell did you just give me back so much hope that this won't be the end? 😭😭😭

Because, friend, regardless of what happens, this is not the end. Even if no 'official' releases come out.

I'm trying to set up free community resources; if I get it going, this will include community stickers and 3D printed items. Free. And if I ever NEED to charge, it will be for cost.

Raffles/contests, community discussion and spotlights on our creations, and I know of others who are working on things that I can't speak of, as it is obviously not my place. ^-^

But it's not the end, regardless. The drive just shifts from the currently defunct DST, to us.

This week should see some BIG news on the bankruptcy , court hearings in progress.

I’m crossing my fingers but I’m tempering my expectations🙁

Sure, Minimates might be dead, but what about Tinytoys?  :)  Hopefully, someday in the (near) future, we get little superhero and wrestling and 80s toyline little dudes again.

Seriously .....I should know better, I know how courts work*     It would seem that the 'only' news is that the proceedings have ended & they will continue at the end of next month .

*they don't work

Update on the DST site, it now says the site is temporarily down for maintenance. I have not been keeping up with the court updates. any changes?

Last I heard the court basically said that Ad Populum will have to settle or go to trial with each comic publisher individually instead of doing it group style, so that will probably slow things down even more.
