Wave 88: New Fantastic Four

The selection of YA was really well timed with the characters being in the public spotlight. The comic series just hasn’t sold well since Children’s Crusade. The set was really well done but the representations are of comics. Again, a book that didn’t sell well.
 

The FF set was near perfection. I had no context for the Silver Surfer and still loved it. We also hadn’t gotten an FF set since 2013. They also are some of Marvel’s best known properties. 
 

I have no issues airing grievances with DST but the price point for the 6 packs was not one. They were jammed full of accessories and characters for a fair price. Others disagreed. Between the sales and the price point we are at 5 figures and a mini figure for the next few sets and I’m just grateful that we are still getting sets.

seconded.  that ironman doom is one of my favorite designs and so glad we got it!  herbie!!  and a full team!  if we dropped one i'd say drop the surfer but even he looks awesome.  i have no context for him either but he looked cool and didn't just repeat another surfer

New Fantastic Four Box Set is up for preorder. I'm not sure if these will get made or not, but we are moving forward with our order. As with any of our preorders, if this is cancelled, we will issue refunds. With that said, I love the alternate Wolverine and De'Lila looks!

I have no ideas how solicitations work. Was this scheduled or did they contact you so say that preordering was available? I know that the DST website was updated to say that new offers were coming. 

Not super interested in the characters but I would buy these for the accessories alone! Love the webwings and the sensor for Spidey and that Ghost Rider chain is fire (literally)!

There is a special website just for retailers for everything offered through Diamond Comics, and each day there is a section for new preorders, which I check every morning. Minimates are almost always solicited on Fridays for some reason. And then these will also show up in the digital and print versions of Previews later on, which consumers and retailers alike have access to.

Thanks! I wonder how automated that process is. Like, was this a holdover from pre-buyout or is this a new person uploading items into their retail portal? This is all so confusing trying to figure out if any of these sets will actually be made.

Yeah wish Ad Poplum could at least be upfront on things...

The latest update to retailers from Diamond is that the transition to Ad Poplum will take at least another 2 months, so production of these sets might not even be on their radar yet.

Finally Ketch gets some updated respect. Only way he could look better is if they had given him his hellcycle as a stand.

art adams and walt simonson just killed it on this run.

these designs do the story total justice and would have been a highlight in my collection.

Correct, Merisiel is the only hairpiece with pointy ears. The 2nd Super Skrull has pointy ears, but it is more of a helmet/head covering with the ears showing.

I know because it was the only hair I could use for my Nocturne custom.

That's great! Do you have a decal for that face? I'm terrible designing those and just ended up using a spare Nightcrawler head for mine.
