Wave 88: New Fantastic Four

The next set is GhostRider, Joe Fix It, Spider-Man, Logan, and Sue with a swappable head to make the telepathic Skrull De’Lila. The box set control art is faithful to the Art Adams Art work.

 

I’m more excited than not but I can’t help wishing they swapped out Sue for Ms Marvel She-Thing. Or make Sue the Best of Version. Or controversial of all, have Spidey and Logan in the black and Blue costume with the pack in be a kid body for Powerhouse or Brainstorm.

Well- this story barely had she-thing (but she was in it).  I am 100% behind this.  Wish there was a way to include the comic too.  If you haven’t read it you’re missing out!    I do think it needs something more but i can’t quite think of what i would add.   

punisher makes a tiny cameo at the end that would be funny if they could add something to reference that but again- i’m at a loss at how they could do that.   But combine this the moleman and the mole creatures we already have and it can be a superfun setup

Looks like a nice little upgrade on the Ketch Ghost Rider. The alt Skrull head is a welcome bonus too.

Maybe a QR code to read the issue for free on Unlimited? And yes, Sharon is barely in it but she’s the only member from this era we haven’t gotten and I doubt we ever will.

Yeah, an Art Adams fill-in blew my young mind.  It might have been my first exposure to him.

now that i think about it, mine too.  such a fun story.  when my nephew started reading comics i made sure he read the original secret wars, BONE, and this run.

 

i may have read longshot or that excalibur with the x-babies but even so, this sticks out more in head as being blown away by the art.

Monkeyman was published way back in 1993! New FF was 1990, so I just wanted to make sure you knew about it. The art is amazing, as is his issue of Tom Strong. No offense meant.

i have some cool sketches by him.  some are prelim star wars covers and one is a cool starro 

he's just good.

hopefully the box art of this set captures some of that energy his art brings.........but in minimate form

How much credit can i take for this?

I remember suggesting this with the fifth (and back then sixth) figure being "the Skrull baddie", Sharon Ventura or Sleepwalker (who replaced GR in one reunion).

No pack-in?? I'm sure there is something important that can go with Ghost Rider that could serve as a big accessory and class a a pack-in...

Come to think of it, how dare you miss the gigantic chance to give us a Sleepwalker.

I don't remember specifically reading your suggestion, but I may have, and I'm pretty sure this was my suggestion to the team, so feel free to take the credit! I certainly don't need it. 

I suggested two other FF sets at the same time, and both had Sharon Ventura in them. Someday. 

Sleepwalker would be awesome. Not sure what other set would make sense for him.

Robert Kirkman did a fun marvel team up series that had sleepwalker and a bunch of other heroes in it.  the big bad was an alien i don't think we ever saw again but it also had a tony stark dr. doom that was pretty cool.

i think kirkman also tried to do a sleepwalker revival that i don't think lasted very long.

 

as for another pack in for this new FF set -- what about when

Yes, I remember that! The chain-drill, not anything regarding Sleepwalker. Not sure I've ever read an issue with him in it. Wasn't he a Secret Defender? I mean, everyone was.

The question becomes how much heavy lifting can a new X-23 Minimate do to justify a boxset of the others that are unreleased...
