NerdyTrev Posted July 26, 2024 Posted July 26, 2024 I love Darkchylde. I really wish she had Satyr legs, but she's otherwise brilliant. N'astirh looks like a great feat of engineering as well. Very curious to see how he turns out. Quote
Nessex Posted July 27, 2024 Author Posted July 27, 2024 (edited) @DSTZach Are you able to confirm whether Magik/Darkchild will come with a Soulsword? (once the madness of SDCC is over, obviously) Edited July 27, 2024 by Nessex Quote
Chigarillo Posted July 27, 2024 Posted July 27, 2024 Well, I was close. Lol. N'astirh looks really good but I'll probably use the Darkchylde for parts to make an Amanda Sefton Magik. The rest are, whatever. I don't need or want another Wolverine or Sinister, and Maddie is fine I guess even though it isn't really a look she ever wore outside a TV show. Quote

To be fair, it does resemble her Sisterhood of Evil and X-Man looks. There really isn’t too much DST can do if this is what Marvel is telling them to do. Just hope someone like Luke releases a sticker for the more accurate chest block for those that don’t have one. Quote

I'm not blaming DST for this. I do find it *kind* of wild that Marvel will give the 'ok' to. particular costume for the cartoon, and then get prudish when it comes to the merch for the exact same product. You can see that the '97 Marvel Legends figure was sculpted to have a hint of upper thigh showing (as it is in the cartoon). Maybe someone got cold feet and decided to give her full-coverage leggings at the 11th hour? I don't mind if that's the route Marvel wants to take with their IP, but I wish it was consistent. If that's how you want her to look, then do that in the cartoon as well. This is by far my favourite set since the new DST box-set-as-wave formula came out. I was very worried that the format didn't leave much room for villains or supporting characters, but this set has almost everything I want from it. Can't wait to see yay shots! Quote
Freaqualizer Posted July 28, 2024 Posted July 28, 2024 I do understand the frustrations of not having a new character in a familiar/accurate look. However, I am ok with this release. I already cobbled together a Goblin Queen. So I will keep those parts handy and just QC my own once this set is in hand. The new Sinister looks pretty cool. And Darkchylde is awesome looking. And I always love getting more villains. For anyone curious, my QC for Goblin Queen is wave 76 Black Cat torso and arms and Selene legs. Not a 100% match, but it looks good. The head hair and cape from this release will complete the ensemble. Quote
Chigarillo Posted July 28, 2024 Posted July 28, 2024 I mean I have bigger issues with Wolverine included in this wave rather than the look of Maddie. It's just such a wasted slot to me. I get Wolverine "sells" but at the same time I can't see anyone looking at this Wolverine variant and going "yeah, I need this whole set!" Meanwhile I think there's very few of us mate collectors that wouldn't rather have a new Colossus, or a Marauder or any other figure we haven't gotten in place of Wolverine. Quote

Wolverine’s Dad is the bane of my existence. I think there were other characters that I personally would have loved but no one is bigger than that guy to offset the rest of the “no” names. Polaris as Malice, Beast in X-Factor Brown, Sabertooth or other Marauders. Even a new Captain Britain! But I get the need for a name and given we got the X-Factor wave this is a great compromise. Would love if he came with Daken Claws or extra hands or pointer finger. Quote
Nessex Posted July 29, 2024 Author Posted July 29, 2024 While I agree that I never need a Wolverine mini again, I also acknowledge that selling toys, (especially if you want casual sales outside of hardcore collectors), requires some brandname recognition. Few X-Men have the brand recognition that Wolverine('s dad) has. And at least you can use this one as a minion for Maddie with his demon face. Outside of him as the anchor for this set, we have a 2 brand new/never been released before villains, a 3rd villain that is an update on a 13 year old figure, an extremely distinct costume variant for a female character, and a 6th character as an unarticulated accessory. Honestly, I'd probably buy any box set going forward that used this formula. Quote

If they had picked Sym instead of Naistr we would have the leads from What If 9… Quote

These Wave 87 Wolverine versions are nice enough but its inclusion in this set almost guarantees that it'll be unlikely we'll see another Wolverine for quite some time ! When I consider all the participants in "Inferno" the wrong choice has been made , it's a great looking set but ,personally, it didn't need Wolverine . Unless I'm just falling for the hype for the new Deadpool & Wolverine movie ,it looks like it will perhaps re-ignite the somewhat flagging MCU . Here's a Wolverine wearing a suit that has been crafted to encompass just about every era ......& we aren't getting one ? At the height of my Minimate obsession (2009) wave 28 was fresh on the shelves & the Deadpool/Wolverine set remains one of the best Minimate sets ever released , so good that both characters found there way into another box set less than a year later . 14 years on & neither version of the character, IMVHO ,has been bettered ..........NOW is the time. DSTZach Posted July 31, 2024 Posted July 31, 2024 (edited) Magik will come with a sword. Wolverine will come with a human head. Nathan will come with a FULL diaper, and I mean real full. No Deadpool & Wolverine Minimates planned right now. Good movie, though! Edited July 31, 2024 by DSTZach Quote

DSTZach Posted July 31, 2024 Posted July 31, 2024 We have a whole wave of Deadpool-related comic Minimates planned, but they may be a little ways down the road. Not sure movie is as easy as saying "let's do it." Quote

Apologies for the vulgarity, but I have to ask; why does it look like Wolverine has the shitty, puny second-generation claws? Is it just for the prototype, or will it carry over to the final release? Please give him the third-generation claws for the final. The third-gen claws are perfect. Quote

Navaan Posted September 18, 2024 Posted September 18, 2024 New pics are good. While not the Madelyne I would have asked for, done fairly well for what it is. In the absence of a Jocasta, I'll have to settle for that Magik (which also isn't my preferred style) body to use for an EDI custom for my Mass Effect minimates. Quote
elhonez Posted September 18, 2024 Posted September 18, 2024 Saw the coverage over at marvelousnews, I appreciate the visibility and love seeing exposure for any MMs. I feel like in addition to the having character himself, Nastirh has value for a potential Marvel Monster custom or two. Quote
