I am very impressed with your work, and there is something oddly exceptionally admirable in that you are making your own Minimates, rather than just buying Cylons and army building them.

Genuinely hope to see this kind of thing for hair pieces and the like we never got.

It's both actually. LOL My army of factory Cylons is much larger than the home made army. But I really like my lean Cylons compared to the Minimate ones.

It has been quite fun making my own. I was working on a character that required some purple and I thought of the purple Cylons.

As far a hairpieces, I'm happy to teach anyone my workflow. My Blender skills are very basic. If you have any experience with the program, you can probably do what I do. :) I'm collaborating with a couple of people on some projects. One I'm working has yielded a pretty cool part. You'll see.

I've got a bit of a library of hair pieces already. But I think I may redo them all before sharing. I'm starting to gain a bit of skill and most of the ones I've done so far could benefit from a redo. I have all the original models I chopped them from so it should be easy enough to start over if necessary.

If you can get AI to output a picture like the one below with a front, back and side view, I can take a crack at generating a model and separating whatever parts you want from it.

Your Cylons are better looking than the official factory made ones, I agree.

I just wish that more Star Trek parts came from Diamond Select before they went under. I really want to make more alien customs for my collection, but I don't have the means or space to set up 3D printers.

Thanks for posting your work and sharing with us all. I do admire your work.

Thanks!

I will be sending you some Trek stuff. Haven't got around to it yet. I have a couple of packages I need to send.

You should check out https://www.pcbway.com/rapid-prototyping/3d-printing/ It's sort of like the old Shapeways minus the designer stores. You can download any of my or Liney's stuff from Thingiverse (I have more on Printables.com) and upload it there. Then choose a material and get a quote. Last time I looked it seemed fairly reasonable. Order and they'll print it and ship it to you. At Minimate size, I think you can add a few items to your order before the price goes up.

My most recent hair pieces and stuff aren't up on Thingiverse yet but I'll probably share them eventually. Gorn head and Andorian hairpiece are there.

LOL It seems to be beak day around here for some reason.

This is the very first helmet I got AI to do for me. It's taken me a while to get around to making the actual character. It's not a perfect representation but I expect fans will recognize him.

If you are a fan and would like my one extra copy, be the first to name the character. :)

Holy crap!

LOL Is that an exclamation that you know the property and think it's a good likeness?

Or a wild guess at the character's name because he holds a plunger? :D

Dearest Cylon , I suggest you open a window when creating your masterpieces .  Beak-helmeted ,plunger wielding characters used to regularly feature in my life ....often when the pub was shutting .

butt.

Is this Hawk from Buck Rogers? I get that vibe as I think it works well for that character.

But I see it could possibly be used as an alternate helmet for an Alternate Universe Hawkman or Hawkgirl.

This piece looks nice, I even like the plunger.

Could it actually be Winslow Leach from the 1974 film The Phantom of the Paradise? I vaguely recall seeing that a long time ago.

Paco nailed it on his last guess! Well done. A very obscure property. It's an early Brian De Palma film. Should I add him to your still unsent package? :)

I have only seen the movie once, but I loved it. I think a Japanese company made an action figure of the character a while back (20 years ago?), but it is very underrepresented in toys. Now I wish I'd said his name!

If you want him, I'll make another one.

It's so weird. I'm pushing 60 now and this is a movie I didn't get to see in the theatre (in 1976) because I was too young.

The movie didn't do well. But it had a rocky-horror-ish cult following in one city, Winnipeg, Manitoba Canada. It played forever in its first run and child me (born there) was tortured that no one would take me to see it. Probably would have given me nightmares anyway. LOL

For those not in the know, the plunger is not his weapon of choice. It featured in one iconic scene and I assumed it would help to make him recognizable.

WOW!! I'm also in the market for one of these if you're printing a few! A very close friend of mine is obsessed with this movie. I only recently saw it for the first time and I loved it.

Soooooo old .

For my family it might be. 8 more years and I'll have outlived Dad. :(

I bet you thought it was getting up there when you were on the near side of it yourself.  :)
