Ethically, I've got mixed feelings about all this stuff. I HATE what this is doing and will continue to do to artists. But it is very fun to mess around and create imaginary figures. I was doing Super Powers, GI Joe, and Secret Wars styled characters that never were and never will be. For BHM! One of my favorite figures was the Desperately Seeking Susan Madonna. Here are some other musician Minimates I would love to have. I guess the audio monitor (?) is the 4th character? Though its off topic, here's one of the 1/6 Joes AI generated for me. Pretty unbelievable what can be done. These are great, I'd like to see some more, especially Super Powers and Secret Wars. The one thing i do enjoy about the A.I. stuff is being able to see what all my wishlist characters would look like, or could look like. The stuff that will 99.9% never be made, so its cool to be able to see. Quote

Try to add joints to a figure's knees and then they screw up his face in the next iteration, etc. Trying to get images of them in the packaging adds an extra level of difficulty. Its 1 step forward and 2 steps back when you try to refine things. But here are a couple of examples you might appreciate as a Joe fan. What if Kenner had the GI Joe license (AI interpreted Secret Wars style to be Kenner style for Flint, interestingly)? Edited May 8 by karamazov80 Quote

I know the frustrations ... i was trying to recreate old movie posters into a lego movie style, and it would sometimes take 15-20 attempts until i ran out of free credits, ran out of patience or got something close enough. Never fully satisfied. it crazy how you can specifically ask for things to not be changed or only change one specific thing and now that one thing looks crazy, but the character now had a beard or something crazy ... AI always wants to give Zartan hair. And when you try to correct it the hood always gets messed up. Quote
cylonchaney Posted June 14 Author Posted June 14 (edited) It wouldn't do Star Wars characters for me. But for some reason if I put Lego before, it will. Luke Skywalker as a Minimate would not work. But Lego Luke Skywalker as a Minimate did. I only want the heads and hairpieces anyway. But I'm sure I could still manage creating chest stickers from the ones that are a little lego shaped. Or I could go back and prompt harder. Edited June 14 by cylonchaney Quote
Minimike Posted June 14 Posted June 14 I love the faces for all of these! Leia and Han look perfect in minimates form! Quote
Liney Posted June 14 Posted June 14 Ohhh, these look cool - especially like Chewie, the troopers and Vader. Leia came out a it generic but I like her torso and skirt print. Han I guess used more than just the classic films based on his sleeves? I would gladly take a C3P0 to go with my robot gang Quote
Padrino Posted June 14 Posted June 14 WOW! These are amazing! What program are you using for these? (Is that ok to ask?) Quote

Prompts are basically: Lego Darth Vader as a Minimate block figure. You sometimes have to remind it that Mates have no nose. I got Slave Leia at first and had to specify that I wanted the one with the buns. I'm also adding, "Display the figure from 3 different angles suitable for generating a 3d model." When I get enough I'll buy some premium 3d AI time and make a bunch of models. Quote
Navaan Posted June 15 Posted June 15 I'd buy the hell outta those. Star Wars and Masters of the Universe were my grails. Quote
buttheadsmate Posted June 15 Posted June 15 (edited) I thought long and hard about commenting on the AI generation of the SW 'mates that Cylon has posted . Should I criticise what is ,after all, a machine's interpretation of a series of prompts or should I just say "Wow we can finally see what SW 'mates look like ? " So.....they're nice to see but if these were actual protos of what many here have craved as a 'Minimate Grail ' IMVHO I'm not sure that these would be anything other than disappointing . Sorry! I have never embraced the 'Star Wars' licence , I almost feel embarrassed to say it , but there it is . That said I truly love my collections of Star Wars kubricks which ,despite their limitations, are sublime . Kubricks are similar to Minimates , similar enough to draw a comparison . I love this thread & I am as sure that the god 'AI ' won't be offended ,when I criticise him ,as much as I know he won't be warmed when I praise 'him'. (struggling with my punctuation in this post but WGAF?) I'm insulted. I had to ask the AI really hard you know. I wasn't trying to make them impressive pictures. I just want the hair/helmets for 3d printing. I will fix things like Han's 2 coloured sleeves when I make my customs. I think 3PO and Chewie came out pretty good. Quote
buttheadsmate Posted June 16 Posted June 16 I'm insulted that you are insulted . Seriously... IMHO AI will be an immense help as we crave for the return of real-life Minimates , the opportunity is right in front of just about everybody to promote future lines with comparatively small investment . Then all we have to do is steal the licence from Lego I swear I'll stop comparing everything I see to the kubrick Star Wars figures but before I do can somebody set the question /prompts ....."Give me Star Wars Kubricks interpreted into Minimate figures " ?
