i'd have to reread the Duke series but have Flint and Lady Jaye shown up yet?  i can't recall.

but i think we have enough here to get going.  hopefully the line lasts longer than the ARAH line and we get there

I don't recall seeing them in any of the Energon Universe books that have been released so far. On a side note, the BATS played a significant role in the Destro comic. I hope we see them in a wave. It could be Destro, Mercer, a BAT, Chameleon, Scrap Iron.

They're with Hawk doing some TOP SECRET DON'T LET DUKE KNOW things. IDK, breadcrumbs were given in the Free Comic Book Day oneshot.

What do you guys think are the chances that it doesn't include: CC, Scarlett, Snake Eyes or Storm Shadow?

If DST is making a new set, I hope they at least make it "new". There are four box sets so far and 3 characters have appeared 3 times already, and one twice. Every set has had a Snake Eyes or a Storm Shadow or both.

I understand the need for anchor characters, but they are averaging one new character and 3 repeats per set. One could have skipped the first set entirely and not be missing any characters. 4 sets in is too early for this to happen IMHO.

I'm extremely disappointed in the way this line has been managed. But apparently I just don't understand "supply and demand" or marketing.

I'll go back to shutting up on this line now. I hope the next set has a great and unique line up, and everyone loves it.

Well, of those four only Cobra Commander is on the cover that seems to be DST's inspiration, although I know Scarlett also has her own book. It sounds like Snake Eyes hasn't shown up at all, maybe because his movie flopped.

I guess it could just be the four corner box heads, but I bet there'll be at least one new character. Not Road Pig, though.

Snake-Eyes has not shown up, yet, so, can't be him.

No, I have two theories on that-

One, they are waiting for the boost his reveal will give (the Energon comics have been hitting that well a lot), and they want it to be a surprise. Some very popular characters have not yet appeared, at all, and some have had cameos, only. Still, of all of Hasbro's darlings, Snake-Eyes is easily and by far the highest profile character.

Hell, DC let Batman fight him to a draw in a comic.

But two... there's been a push in some parts of Hasbro, perhaps, to get Snake-Eyes to be different than his classic interpretation, in fear of reception in modern times. Maybe they're waiting to figure out either how to bring him in and not have that conversation be a concern, or to bring him in a way that they might piss off old fans but hit certain demos- or at least try.

I highly doubt the set will have no repeats, but hopefully it's a character that has not been done three times already. Scarlett, Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow are not on that cover, but we'll see -- I have not seen the final lineup. Cobra Commander is certainly a possibility, as is Duke. But hopefully it's the start of a longer, more affordable series of 4-packs. (I am pushing for no individual cardbacks.)

The line has not gone exactly as I would have hoped, to be honest, but I have faith we can fix it.

We believe in you!

i loved the card backs but the price point hurt.  since these aren't based on the old toys i wouldn't think the packaging should be retro.  save that for the con exclusives

Hasbro should have been offering it through Pulse and advertising it in their streams.

They don't even alow Hiya's Joe figures in the states, officially.

Seriously, I love their brands but damn do they get in their own way.

A soft Energon Universe re-launch could be great.  Then you could even get in some more Transformers, add Void Rivals, and while you're at it work out a deal with Skybound for more Invincible!

I'd love to see them make Minimates based on the Rook: Exodus comic. A Geiger 2-pack would be pretty awesome also.

The card backs were only something I liked for the sweet little fact file cut outs that every character got. Keep those around please because they made packaging worthwhile.

Depends on how they wanna do it.

If they do them for the miniseries, I think the best ones would be-

Duke- Duke, Baroness, BAT, Stalker (two repeats, two new, one troop builder)
Cobra Commander- Cobra Commander, Nemesis Immortal, Golobulus, Zarana (one repeat, three new)
Scarlett- Scarlett, Storm Shadow, Jinx, Arashikage Ninja (two repeats, two new, one troop builder)
Destro- Destro, Chameleon, Tomax, Xamot (one repeat, three new)

If they go the main series, then I would expect two sets, again-
Duke, Cover Girl, Stalker, Rock n' Roll (one repeat, three new)
Cobra Commander, Destro, Chameleon, Mercer (two repeats, two new)

I do not recommend, personally, Risk. The reception to that character, thus far, has been pretty lackluster in the Joe fandom.

The cardbacks would have worked, IMHO, if they were all individual releases. Toss them for like 10 bucks a piece at comic stores, I bet they would have flown off.

I agree 100% I believe the single cardback figures are some of the best looking Minimates we have seen. The nostalgia of seeing them single carded on pegs at stores would probably have attracted more G.I. Joe fans to buy them. Us guys raised in the 80's can't resist buying toys that remind us of growing up back then. M.A.S.K. minimates would be amazing also, but they would need the vehicles to go along with them in my opinion.

I am pulling for you and the line!

I will miss the card backs. I am an opener and pretty much never keep the packaging anything (except for the VHS & game cartridge minimate packaging) but for these I actually bought a second set to leave one on the card backs.

are the 60's Joe set still a thing? Those prototypes looked pretty cool but they haven't been mentioned since they were first shown.

There were prototypes? Where?

I forgot about these. I would have bought multiples of the Adventure Team set.  I had that guy with the clear limbs. LOL

The Super Adventure Team must have been the absolute last of the line for the tall guys and maybe not a good idea. I had many Joes as a kid, before and after Kung Fu grip. I don't remember the SAT at all. And I was still the target age for the line when it ended. I'm definitely the target market for these and likely would not have been interested in SAT.

Idk about toy buying demographics but as an armchair observer, it seems to me RAH was and is the way to go. I'd personally love it if Adventure Team was the next set. But for the sake of the line I hope it's RAH and at least three new characters. Should be four but I'm trying to be realistic here. :)
