As always, amazing work, beautifully done, and with a selection of obscure characters that really captures the era! Thank you for your work. Also, I can't help but imagine the Agents of Syn having to find work after assassin-ing. Working around an office where their weapons double as toilet snakes, box cutters, letters openers, vacuums (I know it's not a vacuum attachment on the green guy, but it kinda looks like one)... Ha! They definitely need a Syn rehabilitation and work placement program. I like to think Mr. Cannon Arm ended up outfitting a hair dryer and becoming a fabulous stylist. I'm now a "box set" shy of completing MOKF, and a last wave shy of PMIF, after which I'm looking forward to the freedom of doing some random themes. Quote
Kotter Comics Posted February 13 Posted February 13 Based on your overall aesthetic, I look forward to whatever random theme you choose. Quote
elhonez Posted March 18 Author Posted March 18 Here's my MOKF Box Set: The Order of the Golden Dawn Leopard Cult, Phansigars (v2), Hashishin, and Si-Fan Ninjas These would all be "army builders," and Shang-Chi kicked many of their asses all over the place. They are part of a patchwork army / alliance that Fu Manchu put together, and the full order includes my previously-customized Templars and Thuggees. Leopard spots are a bitch to paint, but I am pleased with the results. Like so many of my customs, the rest are a mix of QC elements, adapted parts and decals. I am now done with the production phase of all MOKF stuff, which totalled this box plus 8 waves. But not out of the woods yet -- there is a bit of an epilogue I'm working on. Quote
cylonchaney Posted March 18 Posted March 18 These, as always, are really cool elhonez. I note that the faces on the bottom 2 seem to have a different art style. Is this you developing a style of your own for Minimate faces? An homage to the source material that I'm unfamiliar with? Or something else? In any case, great stuff! Coincidentally, did anyone see the stop motion that was posted on the Minimates subreddit today? Almost an homage to elhonez release. :) Quote

I wasn't attempting anything specific from a style perspective, only trying to faithfully reproduce the source. After reading your post I sought out that stop motion clip -- it was really fun. Jaguars FTW! Quote
Kotter Comics Posted March 19 Posted March 19 Another home run! And I can't believe there are still more MOKF characters left! Quote

And technically, what I'll be adding isn't "more," but kind of a ribbon on the work that I've completed. I'm pretty fn' done with these rascals at this point! Not much juice left to squeeze, as your response rightly implies. For newness, I suppose I'll finally complete the 8th Power Man / Iron Fist wave. I'm pretty excited about a couple of those. Quote
elhonez Posted March 21 Author Posted March 21 Thanks Padrino! I suppose it's time to reveal some of my inspiration. I initially had much more humble ambitions for MOKF, the mains and a few choice others that seemed easier to do. But then I came across the following pin-up, and saw that there were some gaps to fill. That's when I really went down the rabbit hole, because doing some of these meant doing even more related characters that weren't even featured here. And for whatever reason, this picture included some truly deep cuts among the bigger bads, to a sometimes baffling degree. But I did them all anyway! And this is incidentally the reason why I did two Fu Manchu variants -- this wasn't the version I originally wanted to do. Also, this all a prelude to reveal the following image, which I couldn't not do, right? You may note some disparities in costumes from my customs -- the original pinup image takes some liberties with the source material. ACKNOWLEDGEMENT: Shockwave is made with Luke Stickers from an old Crate, and Doom is just a production figure. Enjoy! Quote
luke314pi Posted March 21 Posted March 21 That is absolutely incredible to see them together as a group Quote

Dude, seriously, I wish there were still more people on the forum just so you could get the number of reactions this deserves. I just spent about 10 minutes scrolling up and down and up and down because both images don't fit on my laptop screen and I want to compare. LOL Where did you source that little monkey? Amazing work. I hope you gave yourself a good pat on the back when you completed. It inspires me to get back to some of my own projects. Quote
elhonez Posted March 21 Author Posted March 21 Thanks everyone for the kind words and feedback! This was almost a year and a half in the making, and I'd been keeping this image in mind the entire time. It's gratifying to finally share it. 2 hours ago, cylonchaney said: Where did you source that little monkey? It's a Lego monkey that I painted grey to match Peko. I think technically Peko is a capuchin, but I thought this was good enough for rock n roll. Because every Big Bad needs a Mr. Bigglesworth. Quote
