Redesigned my Star Trek Mugatu (in the style of the old mego figure) chest which was lost during my laptop issues - much happier with it, as its more in keeping with existing Mates

I also adapted it into newer versions of the red and blue coveralls from TOS - engineering and science? Who knows - transporter techs wear red, but Uhura wears blue when rewiring the comms station 🤔

Trying to see if I can make this work. I made some BATS color matched to Cyclops from Astonishing X-Men. This leverages the new Luke decal template, Gareth’s muscles, and eye strain from looking at different BAT figures. The recipe of cyclops, a pathfinder helmet, and Coco head isn’t my idea but, I loved it and can’t find the original poster to give them credit.  Bat-Decal.png

Very cool - I can't say I'm familiar with BATS, but I dig anything with a retro robot vibe!

Soooo, after my Xmas laptop disaster, the motherboard melted after over a decade of heavy use and needed replacing - but armed with a newer higher spec laptop, I made a start on updating my old TNG stickers/

Full male male and female uniforms for all 3 divisions added back on my Trek megapost in page 18

Final one of the batch that were ready for uploading before the 'accident' - Star Trek TAS Lt M'ress - face and chest (hopefully matched Cheetah/Tigra) added to the megapost

Had to break the no nose rule for this one!

Nice! I think I might have to try to make one. I was also thinking of ideas for Arex as well. :)

I've been contemplating him too - definitely a candidate for 3d pritning!

M'Ress could use some feline lower legs, or at least MvC Felicia's cat feet

Updated Voyager uniforms added to page 18 - 3 divisions with full front and back with wrap over so the top of the torso matches.

Debating adding 'wings' to the sides for the colour above the shoulder ball - yay or nay?

Just my two cents. But I'd use the full bottom wings. It helps keep things from peeling up. Luke's full template would be like a solid vest if you could remove the torso underneath, if you know what I mean. I find this looks really good and sticks really well. I'm not sure how others do. But I wrap the sides around and stick the back last. It kind of locks the side tabs in and everything sticks well.

I wouldn't bother with shoulder wings. But if you made them, I'd use them without complaint. :)

Are the sides supposed to wrap around onto the back? I've only used the full once and I didn't reach all the way to the corner - which was probably more to do with it be an older mate, which where a bit chunkier.

Either way - additional versions with sides added too! This time as PNG format, making them suitable for print and cut files on Cricut machines (or similar)

I designed my TNG stickers as separate fronts and backs as they have no print on the top of the blocks - would people prefer these to be full stickers?

EDIT: if someone would like to test the size of these out, that would be great. I measured 7 different mates with calipers averaged them out. I think the side wings may need to be a bit longer

I'm happy with whatever you want to share however you want to share it. :) I may have extended the wings when I used this, to purposely have them wrap around to the back just the tiniest bit. It didn't seem to show but made the hold really good.

I designed them to not fully wrap around because they would leave sticker "lumps" under the back sticker, and if I made them just long enough to touch the back sticker without going under it, they would pop up at the corners. But I did not do extensive testing, so you might be able to find a better solution!

Thats what I thought, depending on thd thickness of the stickers.

The trouble I've run into is if you size to the larger measurements you get overhang on smaller mates. If you size to smaller mates, the stickers don't reach the edges.

Though we're talking fractions of a mm difference, so I imagine most people aren't as bothered by it as I am 😅

I must have purposely extended them then. I use clear stickers almost exclusively and they seem to be thinner than any white sticker paper I've found. With the clear stickers, I didn't notice a bump. But then I've really only used the technique once. Apologies to give people bad advice on using your template. :)

I have wondered if there is a good way to have the side panels stretch around the shoulder joint, similar to how I did it for the neck joint by making the opening large enough to fit around the ball. A lot of these things definitely depend on the type of paper used.

Just throwing this out there .......would decals that have originally been printed on self-adhesive vinyl sticker 'paper' have the ability to stretch a little ?

They should in theory 🤔

Im sure I've got some laying about, but I seem to recall it being pretty thick

Thanks for replying .  My research implies that there are various thicknesses available which is no help to you .

My logic ( not the gold standard BTW) suggests that a vinyl sticker (with a permanent adhesive ...if they exist) might be more malleable .

Yeah, vinyl paper definitely has some stretch to it, where as regular stickers would tear easier. Thinner paper would wrap around corners better as well.

Worth mentioning the stuff I had didn't take ink too well, I generally had to print the sticker twice on top of each other to get a deep colour. This was a few years, with whatever I could find in shops near me, and a couple of printers ago - so might not be the case anymore!

I now find myself attacking the internet to find out about the compatibility between printers ( laser , inkjet whatever) and vinyl stickers & despite the fact I suggested the vinyl you'd best be careful with using it .....heat & vinyl  .

Back in the day ol'butt would've litho-printed on vinyl adhesive ,it was tricky (static was your enemy) but lithography is a completely different ball-game to digital printing .

My guess is that somebody must have tried what I am suggesting before .

I was testing one using the neck hole for the shoulder hole but them adhd won and I forgot. I was thinking it would work if you kept the top part still cut. Will need to pick that up.
