Title says it really Hasbro released a new line of Retro style figures. Now I'm not sure if $20 for two small figures is going towards the high end of pricing but damn the packaging to me is just great. Reminds me a lot of the Mego Pocket heroes stuff I had as a kid but I guess that's the idea.

So, I picked up some of the new Batman: The Brave and The Bold Action League figures. They're another entry in the parade of "kawai" minifigs like Superhero Squad.

They're pretty awesome, too.

I personally like that they're a little more stylized than SHS – although not to the ridiculous extreme as DCD's Blammoid abominations.

They're the same scale as SHS, and have neck, shoulder and waist articulation. It seems as though the legs generally come in two stock sculpts, which works okay because of the cartoony nature of the designs, and will hopefully make a broad line of figures more cost effective.

I'm really hoping Mattel keeps this line running for a while, and gives us the depth of DCUC and JLU. If the show, and some of the semi-obscure characters in wave one (Kanjar Ro, Gentleman Ghost) are any indication, it should do just that.

They're no Minimates, but they are a bit of a comfort.

Someday, perhaps in my lifetime, Hasbro will grant the license for Star Wars Minimates. Until then they're giving us Fighter Pods.

These could be pretty addicting thanks to their cuteness but I have a pretty low tolerance for blind packaging. My daughter's into Star Wars (she bought into Galactic Heroes big time) and also spent a year collecting Gomu erasers. I think she's on the fence about Fighter Pods but that may change once she sees them at retail.

As for me... my wallet's thanking the maker these aren't Minimates.

For now.

So I was in Target yesterday and went down the aisle with the Playskool stuff, which I don't normally go down, but I am glad I did as I came across the new Playskool Heroes that are now going to replace Galactic Heroes and Super Hero Squad etc. They have new Star Wars sets called Jedi Force and Marvel sets called Super Hero Adventures. I picked up 3 SW sets (Luke/Yoda, Vader/Stormtrooper, and 3PO/R2) and the Marvel set with Iron Man and Dr. Doom. I think they are a slight improvement on the old format since they still have that aspect of mini cuteness to them but they also have articulation for better playability. Their heads, shoulders, wrists, and legs move and Vader and Dr Doom have cloth capes. They didn't have the Snowspeeder or Millenium Falcon set there but I want to pick up those sets. They did have the other mini vehicles with one character and I was tempted to get the landspeeder set but passed simply so I can have money to buy the sets I definitely want. I will post pics when I get some taken.

Anyone else who was into the Galactic Heroes planning on collecting these? Anyone else purchased some of these and have an opinion to share?

Ok I wanted to dislike this alot a super cutsey kids cartoon based on Superhero Squad but after watching it two or three times I willing to give this ago. Its airing on Cartoon Network sometime in the fall with I think 26 episodes ordered. I'll just have to wait for it to make its way to Kids TV in UK a few months after that like Spectacular Spidey & Wolverine X-men etc.

Here's the trailer.

So I collect Galactic Heroes 1-because I am a SW fanatic and 2-because they are a great starter toy for my kids to get into SW stuff. Recently they have started releasing sets in Diorama scenes. These are cool sets but ultimately frustrating to someone like me who already has a sizable collection and so usually 3/4 of each of these sets are figures that I already have. However being a completist I want to get the new unique figures in each set so I end up having a bunch of extras.

I was happy that they are finally releasing more ships in the line like the Jedi Starfighter that I just got. However the cockpit in this ship is big enough to fit 3 or 4 figures which is ridiculous. The set also says it comes with a battle droid and it did not so I sent Hasbro an e-mail and they are sending a figure to me (great and quick customer service response from them).

My most recent frustration was a new set with the Dewback which had yet another Han and Chewbacca with a couple of Stormtroopers (although that isn't as bad because having a bunch of those makes sense). Then I got the Jabba the Hutt set and the Mos Eisley Cantina sets all of which were filled with duplicate figures. I understand that these sets are great ways for new people to start collecting who may have missed some of the older figures but man oh man does this sort of thing piss me off.

Which lines?

As well as what lines we collect we could also discuss what Hasbro might release next for their Mini Heroes line of toys.

I would not hold my breath for this one, but maybe for a fantasy line they might release D&D (Dungeon Heroes). Very far fetched but it would be kinda cool. Fing Fang Foom would get some Dragon buddies. For thoses who read The Forgotten Realms and know who I am talking about, having a mini Drizzt would be ultra cool.
