Standard Minimate Reactions (or Palz Pet Peeves)

What are some of the more common or recurrent reactions (especially first time reactions) to minimates (and other block figures such as palisades palz :P) do you hear from people?

I'll start: calling the minimate a LEGO. this is of course fair enough, as it's a much more well known brehren. Often in my IRL life though, when i notice someone has a figure (often a LEGO minifig) at their place or w/e of a certain chsracter i endeavour to bring a minimate of the same character by when possible...so many folks with exxxtensive lego collection just call the 'mates "lego (character)" even when they're playing around with it alongside an (as WE know) several times smaller and less articulated danish minifig

another iconic is of course "whoops i broke it" when first discovering the interchangability of the parts

Have any 'normies' responses to minimate you've shown them/they've seen stood out to you?

Marvel United: X-Men

I know people might be a little wary of Kickstarter campaigns after the 88 fiasco, but is anyone looking into the Marvel United X-Men campaign?

It looks like a fun tabletop game with a bunch of cute minifigures/game pieces. There are also HEAPS of add-ons; Blue team, Gold team, First Class as well as a bunch of already existing Marvel Universe versions (Asgard, Black Panther, GotG, etc...)
I'm very tempted to back this one. CMON seem to have had pretty good success with their campaigns.

I've never been a fan of vinyl toys until Mighty Muggs came along. I loved the look and mixture of characters, but they really didn't last long enough and couldn't go beyond Hasbro properties. Then a few months ago I finally caved and bought some Pop! figures from Funko and I am now officially hooked. I think I've only collected for three months or so now, but here's my collection:

Am I the only one around here who's been wasting my money collecting these?

No, this isn't about the Nigerian construction company. This is about DST's first foray into super-deformed chibi figures called ~~MiniVinimates~~ D-Formz! Launching with Pacific Rim: Uprising, these will be available in September, hopefully just in time for the release of the home video.

Aren't they aDorbzible? These blind-boxed little guys aren't Mez-itzing around! Maybe they can be Palz with your other figures.

So, while I've been able to resist the bigger Funko Pop figures, the minis made me cave. Anyone interested in trading their spares/extras?? I have:

1 Disney/Pixar - smiling Mickey (2/24 ratio)

So - *another* cutesy Funko product is about to hit....

The folks at Funko have sent out this teaser for what looks like a new

line of figures featuring Marvel and DC Comic based characters. The line

by Vinyl Sugar is called Dorbz and they say we will learn more at Toy

Fair which begins on February 14.

Not sure if i'll get these. They look kinda cute though.

About 3" from what I've seen, slightly blocky in nature, IMO, these should have a topic here.

Similar price range to Kubricks, so not terribly over priced considering the amount of detail in these.

Looks like they've also got Batman and Disney licenses (Mickey & co as well as POTC).

I've recently been fortunate (?) enough to acquire some packaged, production figures from a toy line that was apparently made in the UK in 1978 . The packaging describes them thus " .......... ,with their many movable,removable & interchangeable parts,provide children with many hours of amusement ." The design was registered in 1978 & the trade mark applied for .

I took them out of their packaging ..............

So can you guess what they're called ?

I recently picked up the white Shockini and i'm quite impressed with it. The 18 points of articulation are pretty good for a figure so small and i like the idea of being able to customise the figure into what you want with the added bonus of stickers (Although the rip off Autobot and Decepticon symbols is pushing it a bit far) and the complete blankness of the figure...

So what does everybody else think of them ?

Questions about Bizarro (New 52) Figure

I got this Bizarro figure for christmas and I have a few questions and concerns:

The belt is getting in the way of articulation, causing it to be "ripped" off

Paint is painted over hinge, eliminating torso crunch

Just wondering if anyone else had/ has this problem

I love these so much! They look like weird Aardman Puppets and Doc and Marty look like Rick and Morty. The only thing I dont like is the lack of Winston (and the $20 price tag stings a little too.) I mean, the fact a line of Seinfeld figures is coming out is pretty amazing.

Working on my own toy line - looking for feedback

Hey guys,

I have been working on designs and sculpts for a set of mini-figures over the past year or so in my spare time. I thought it was time to post them online and get some feedback. I know these figures would cater more to the MUSCLE / Monster in my Pocket / OMFG collectors, and I have posted these on those respective message boards, but I would love to get some opinions here as well.

The line is called Body Brawlers, and each figure is inspired by a part of the human body. Each figure will be around 1.5" tall to blend in with similar figures. I have two figures sculpted and painted in a draft version, and another two sketched out:

Kidney Stone

Iron Lung

Heart of Darkness

Gut Constrictor

Here is their story:

His name was Mauro, and he was the greatest fighter the galaxy had ever seen. He had a strong heart, an iron will, and the guts to take on any challenger. He was a fan favorite to win the Galactic Fighting Tournament. But in the very first round, and in the very first battle, he was struck down by a warlock fighter named Nolistis. Just as the announcer was about to call the fight, Mauro's lifeless body rippled with new energy. The dark power that Nolistis had used against him had an unexpected side effect. The organs in Mauro's body sprang to life and were filled with his courageous spirit. The fight was allowed to continue, but Nolistis fled in fear from his twisted creations. Mauro’s organs pressed forward in the tournament as the Body Brawlers!

Ideally I would like to make a small run of these and put them up for sale. Based on what you have seen so far, would you be interested in owning a set of figures like this? Do you have any suggestions for me as I continue to work on these?

I'm not a fan of the "designer" style figures like this. But, I love Alien, and this may be the only way we'll be able to get mini-figures of Dallas, Brett, and Lambert in these looks (we got a Kubrick of Ash and the space suits; are getting Minimates of the others here).

......awkwardly I find that the prices are quite inviting .....& I'm not a Lego man.......however........

.........This may not bode well for our beloved line because I can also show you auctions on eay of previously 'sacred' Palz & kubrick Star Wars figures that are now appearing in hordes .

I've read that Lego's turnover is in the $£ billions yet they appear powerless

Family Guy Figures From K'nex?

It's true.

Kind of an edgy property for this category but it certainly sets K'Nex aside from other construction categories, especially since they've been following the lead of so many others by delving into licensed mini-figs in the first place.

I knew Play Imaginative from the die-cast metal action figures they offered, ranging from Batman and Superman to Iron Man and (in 2014) Pacific Rim.

Little did I know they also offered minifigures called Trexi and – knife to the eye! – they have DC characters.

At $13 each, these 2.5" figures seem ridiculously overpriced. Does anyone here collect these?

So I just got back from my family vacation to Disney World, it was my first time and we had a blast! The kids couldn't get enough of Space Mountain or Expedition Everest! And of course, I found something to temporarily take the place of my minimate addiction... Disney Vinylmation firures These little guys just caught my eye and I had to have some. At $10 each for a 3 inch figure, I had to limit myself and try to trade to get the ones I really wanted. Anyway, here are some pics of the merch:
