Hello and good day!,

I wanted to ask what vehicles/playsets would you recommend acquiring that are the same scale as a Minimate figure? The prices of official minimate vehicles are a bit too much for me at the moment, and I wanted to hear other peoples thoughts regarding if there are any other building block sets or vehicles that scale correctly for a minimate figure. Any and all advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

no, no, not that exceelent 'black oil' accessory included with the newborn alien in x-files Palz wave 2 (with included feet holes!) although i suppose history will tell. i'm posting here in case this is a problem more readily apparent in lines beyond minimates (and for somewhere to put it of course, if there's somewhere better let me know)

What's the deal with black plastic sometimes going gooey/sticky/oily? I have been meaning to ask for a while, and i recently purchased a sun-damaged spider-man 3 2-pack where both figures (but especially black spiderman) were afflicted by this, and i wonder what causes it and what one might do to treat/avoid it?

I initially thought it was to do with either the sun or this particular plastic, but now owning that i own some stealth cylons i see they too have the sort of sticky plastic; which i feel i was able to somewhat rectify with a rub across some rough fabric (denim to be precise). Could this just be the Queensland summer heat over the years, even?

I know I could probably trawl a few review sites for this, I know there's something about using hot water (or cold water?) on the socket and other home remedies but thought it might be a good idea to put it to the group and compile the knowledge :

What are your tips & tricks and things to keep in mind when putting limbs onto, or taking limbs off of, older block figures? specifically working with ball and socket joints

I'll start and say that while it may be tempting when removing a limb to use the torso for leverage, try to avoid this as you can snap the joint to the ball! this seems to be a bigger issue on figures using clear plastic in my experience

Just announced - LEGO will be doing Marvel super heroes as well as DC super heroes. The announcement:

The first buildable characters in the LEGO SUPER HEROES collection are highlighted by Captain America, The Hulk and Iron Man. Select figures will be unveiled in the LEGO booth (#2829) during Comic-Con International at the San Diego Convention Center July 21-24.

Imagine - a line of in-scale, same-style figures from both DC and Marvel. Wow, that would be popular, wouldn't it?

Its about 3 feet tall, and it comes with 3 microfigures of astronauts which you can see if you look very closely next to the landing module. Plus that landing module fits inside the rocket which separates in the same stages as the original thing complete with each stage's rockets. I haven't been this impressed with a Lego set in a long damn time. Especially since, at $120, it's one that I feel like I can afford and is good value for what you get. I could never bring myself to drop $500 on that Death Star even though it's packed with cool stuff. This though? This I won't mind dropping $120 on.

I have been considering buying the Lego Blackbird for some time now, but it's about $80 + shipping here in Australia and i'm not in love with the Sentinel it comes with.

So - i have turned to the dark side. I took the plunge and have ordered the bootleg version.

Has anyone here had experience with these Lego imposters? The set cost less than half the retail price (and that includes free shipping), so i'm assuming the quality isn't going to be great, but is there anything else i should watch out for?

I've been considering getting the Deadpool set as well - but i might wait to see how the Blackbird goes first.

It took me to the third wave, but I'm finally getting into these. I like the variety of characters available, but I think it may be frustrating trying to complete anything. So far I'm going to probably grab the Masters of the Universe and the TMNT 'Mirage' style figures. Would probably grab the Futurama figures if I ran across them again. Aliens, Star Trek and Terminator I'm perfectly happy with the Minimates I have. Will pick and choose across the other figures available too, Hellboy is a must buy, probably Kratos too.

So, now that I'm trying to get the older MotU figures (only have Faker so far), where are people finding them? Wal-Mart availability seems spotty, between 4 Wal-marts I only found them at 2. I used to see them at TRU, no longer an option. Target and Walgreens only seem to get the Call of Duty (I think it's Call of Duty) or HALO figures.

Currently searching for wave 1 and 2 Motu figures (or may wait for the 5 pack coming), and also Fry and Bender. (I did see someone state wave 2 has showed up at Tuesday Morning stores, may make a stop tonight).

I'm hoping these new power ranger mini figs from Mega Construx (a rebranding of Mega Blocks?) blind bags sell well so they make another series. I have made a cheat sheet based on info i found online. It works! There is an alphanumeric code printed with black ink on the back above the upc label that has AXX... on it red ranger is A09... etc.

My favorite would be the white ranger hands down.

I think that DST should do something similar with their upcoming minimate MAX line. It'd be a great opportunity to aquire non licensed civilian minimates.
Character Options started with Dr Who and I suppose it's still their flagship line, but they are certainly exploring other options. Most recently released, I've discovered the Construct-A-Bugz.

Some overview info here:

http://newtoybrands.co.uk/construct-a-bugz/construct-a-bugz/

The bugs themselves are "m'eh" to me, but the buggy little CB characters rock. Gonna need an swarm of them. I suspect the line as a whole may die a quick death, but hopefully they'll release some bug men singles or 5-packs.

Check this out:

Those are packaging prototypes for a line of WWE construction kits on display at 2013 Toy Fair. The interesting part is that they're in the showroom of The Bridge Direct, a little group made up of former employees of Toy Biz and Play Along Toys, the latter owned by Jakks Pacific, former licensee for WWE.

As others recall, Play Along was the company that Art Asylum partnered with to make DC Minimates under the newly created C3 brand of construction kits. It's looking like someone from Jakks is trying to get back into the WWE market by offering construction kits.

The question is: What about mini-figures?

Will The Bridge make their own? Or will they partner with AA/DST to develop and manufacture WWE Minimates?

I suppose they could create their own to make them more compatible with LEGO minig-figs. However it seems a figure with more articulation would have greater play value.

Thoughts?

It's around the 2:54 mark. It's interesting that they chose the bigger set, and not just the TARDIS, so that maybe means that it'll turn into a full line, like Minecraft. Well, looks like I'm gonna need some serious cash if I'm to get back into the Lego game.
