My wife and I, and the grandkids went and saw it last night. I have to say that I loved it. I have not had this much fun watching a movie in a long time. There are going to be a few funny parts that you may not get if you were not a fan of the 80's cartoon, but overall everyone should really enjoy it. I don't want to get into any spoilers, but make sure you stick around for all three of the scenes during the credits. Overall I would give it an 8.5 out of 10.

It was a ton of fun. I know some of the critics are complaining that it doesn't do enough to change the galaxy, and that it is kind of its own self contained story., ut I don't even know if that's accurate.

I won't go into spoilers, ut if you're a longtime fan of Star Wars, there are definitely some ramifications and even then it's just a great time and feels like a childhood dream alive and in front of you on the big screen.

Book Signing in Downstate NY

Not Minimates related, but this seemed to be the best place to post it. I'll be signing my toy photography book, Wild Toys, at the Imperial Castle Toy Store in Pawling, NY, this Saturday from 1-5. The book has no MM photos in it (I was saving those for a second volume), and the store only has a limited number of Minimates for sale, but the place is a lot of fun if you're into vintage and modern toys. And I'll be there! If you can't make it, the book is available on Amazon, and I am working on making some signed bookplates to send out to members who buy it. (Some of you have already asked.)

I don't know how many of you are in the general area (it's not very far from Connecticut, Danbury/New Fairfield), but I hope to see you there!

Wishing you the happiest of birthdays old friend! Very, very old friend. At least I'm assuming it's 100 candles this year. If not, it's got to be close, right? It's hard to remember specifics (since I've been gone so long), but I do remember you being quite elderly back in the days of my being a MMMV regular. Not like I have to explain having a hard to remembering things to an old timer such as yourself.

Again, hoping for an amazing day for you Mr. Beavis. I know me posting here pales in comparison to the birthday message you get from the queen when you turn your age, but maybe this'll brighten your day just a little nonetheless.

X-Men '97

They're back, back, back, back, back again!

Just watched the first two episode of X-Men '97n on D+ last night. I gotta say - the creators of the show KNOW who they're making this for: If you were a kid who liked this in the 90s, you are going to be well fed.

My spoiler free review:
There are certainly a few things here and there to adjust to (the animation style is a little less lush/more streamlined & some voices have obviously changed), but the feel of the series... the heart of it feels firmly in tact. There's a LOT that could have gone wrong in trying to cash in on a classic, but the creators seem like they have really tried to stay true to the OG while giving a few modern flourishes.
There are some fun cameos and a LOT of easter eggs for anyone who knows the original series by heart.

I live in the UK & I often buy stuff from the US , mainly toys that I might see on US eBay etc. Shipping small items directly (individually) to the UK is expensive so I'm looking for a patient, reliable person in the US who would be willing to become my US 'storage centre' . I don't buy massive amounts of stuff but it is much more practical that I use a US address to get stuff sent to , with a view to re-sending it all, eventually, to the UK. I am a collector NOT a retailer/seller .

It's a bit like a 'pile of loot' -when the pile gets big enough the 'storer' sends the stuff to me , I of course pay the shipping & any other out-of-pocket expenses . I will rely on the 'storer' to store ,pack & ....here's the worst bit ....deliver the stuff to the post office etc. It could be a big box ! In essence I rely on the sender ....entirely .

I, of course, don't expect anybody (& wouldn't want anybody) to do this for nothing

There have been several people (here) over the years that have done this for me , it has always gone well & I am truly grateful to them. I am entirely sure that any of them would (if you wanted) vouch for my sincerity/honesty .

Heinous (otherwise known as Joe) has passed away. I was lucky enough to get to know him, and even luckier to be able to call him a friend. I dunno if there were others here that were close to him. He was very active on Instagram (under Heinousminimates) where he would post his custom figures and photography. He will be missed.
I just wanted to post in case anyone else was close with him.

Spiderman: No Way Home, Thoughts?

I've just watched it for the second time. I took my Grandson to see it.

Seeing the excitement and hearing it as well from a kid makes it all the more a better movie for me. Like prob the majority of ppl here we know the history and backstory of the all the plots and comic series that the MCU an also the DCU are pulling from and that can at times make us overly nitpicky or critical of not being 100% true to the source material.

So as I said I went with my 10 year old Grandson. He knew there was villains from the none MCU movies from the trailer and he seen the other Spidey movies on TV with me or his Mum and Dad but because we try an keep his online activitys balanced for his age he hasnt got in the habit of tracking down spoilers etc for stuff. That was all he knew, so his excitement when it all came together for the big sequences etc was just great.

Is No Way Home the best Spidey movie? I Dunno but it sure is a blast going in with an open mind an just buzzing off the reaction of someone who is all in for the ride just makes it awhole lot of fun.

So marvel have revealed Spidey is getting a new costume in 2021. what are ppls first impressions on it?

For me not a big fan if they wanted to have a Hi-Tech suit the Parker industries works fine. I understand a new suit drums up interest in the comic and in the end the suit will not be permanent so nothing to get really annoyed about.

It feels more like a team suit like the future foundation one, not really a stand alone Spider suit.

This year we’ve seen a lot of madness. From wildfires to global pandemics and political and social issues. It’s been a trying year no matter how you slice it.

I’m incredibly thankful that I’ve been able to come on here with a group of likeminded people. A place where we all have the same love for our plastic addiction. Where we may disagree, but, usually stay respectful. This has been a respite from the troubles of the world. It has been invaluable in keeping good mental health during this trying year.

I hope everyone has an awesome holiday. I hope you all get to spend quality time with friends and loved ones. Best wishes during this holiday season. I wish you and yours health and happiness. And a heartfelt thank you to all who have helped make this a happy place for me.

I know we've had a Venom T-Rex and not sure if Marvel have any rights to Zilla at the moment but I think Venomzilla V Leopardon in King in Black would be so much fun. Could even use Kid Kajiu to somehow pull it off.

Warhammer Mage Knight Type Game

I don’t play any table top games that use models or figs like Warhammer or Mage Knight. I have been watching some videos about the games though and couldn’t you just sub in Minimates on bases?

the Stats are available for various unit types and characters in books like Codex or battle primers. Also online, there’s an app called Battle Scribe that looks promising.

Something strange happened to me during the quarantine. I got bored and checked out Apple TV's "For All Mankind". I knew about it before but dismissed it as some silly "Astronaut Wives Club" style soap opera.

It started off slow but once it got into space I could ignore all the ridiculous soap opera.

Thanks to this show I find the history of real spaceflight much more interesting than any sci fi universe. That includes Mass Effect. After finishing the first season I dived into "The Right Stuff", "Apollo 13", and "First Man".

I think the Saturn V is the most beautiful machine humanity has even built!

Perhaps a realistic astronaut show would draw in more mainstream TV viewers than a sci fi space opera.
