Psyguy's customs: More Marvel

Recommended Posts

Thanks for all the positive feedback, appreciate it! :)

I have been working on a set of Young Avengers for a while, and have just managed to finish the first few. I am waiting for a couple of parts to finish up Patriot and Hawkeye and should have them completed soon. Here's the first batch.

Speed used Lady Loki as a base. He has a FC Havok head, and I think he has Tony Stark hair. The glasses were cut from a 24 Jack Bauer minimate.

Stature has a modified Stargirl head and a slightly modified BSG Boomer hairpiece.

Wiccan has a modified Angel hairpiece and FC Havok head. His tunic started as a backwards Spectre cloak and his staff is a modified Stargirl's. His shoulder piece is trimmed from a Indiemate Dawn.

As always, thanks for looking.

These are truly fantastic, as usual.

There is a real charm, and something particularly impressive about your work, so professional looking... but at the same time instantly recognizable as something you've produced.

I've never had any real interest in Young Avengers mates, but now I really wouldn't say no.

I'm now reading up on Stature. Wasn't aware of her before; size related name, familiar costume... was hoping she was from the Pym clan, alas!

I'm not a YA reader, but these are some seriously nice looking customs.

Wiccan is kickin! ew..... that left a bad taste in my mouth. Don't let me rhyme ever again!

Also - Is Stature a Guthrie? I know there was a blonde Guthrie sister in the Age of Apocalypse who could grow & shrink, and worked for Sinister. Is this her 616 counterpart?

Is Speed related to Quicksilver? Looks like his son.

Well...there are a few unanswered questions regarding Wiccan and Speed. They are possibly the twin sons of Scarlet Witch (I don't know if you read Avengers Disassembled when Wanda went nuts and believed she had twins?) but I am hoping it all gets cleared up during the current Children's Crusade arc. They do seem to be modelled on Wanda and Pietro.

Nope, Stature is the daughter of Scott Lang, the second Ant-Man. Was the Guthrie in AoA called Amazon? I don't think we have ever seen her 616 counterpart, but I could be wrong.

I think you should rhyme in every post from now on.

Edit: bobafett beat me to it!

They do seem to be modeled on Wanda and Pietro.

Guys are workin' me overtime today. In the late 80's, Wanda used a combination of her hex power and magical training to allow her to become pregnant by Vision. (Wanda had yet to be retconned into an omnipotent reality warper) She gave birth to twin sons, Thomas and William. All was going well for the happy family until two tragic things happened- first Wanda and Vision returned to active duty in the Avengers, joining Hawkeye's West Coast team. Then something far worse happened... John Byrne took over as writer artist of the Avengers. Within no time the Vision is dismantled, and it's revealed that their children weren't real, just magical constructs that would vanish if Wanda stopped thinking about them. Vision is reconstructed without his emotional capacity, thanks to Simon being a dick. And in investigating how Wanda's power worked, we get the first suggestion that Wanda warped reality itself, not just probability. Further the boys' souls were just fragments of the demon lord Mephisto, who was still trying to pull himself back together after Franklin Richards blowed the devil up real good in another Byrne penned story. Well through his agent, Mephisto reclaims the boys and they cease to exist. Naturally Wanda has a complete nervous breakdown, and is only partially calmed down by being made by Aunt Agatha Harkness to forget the children existed at all. Well this doesn't hold long, and Wanda goes completely catatonic only to revived by her dear Daddy. Daddy's "help" completely unhinges Wanda into full on evil mode and then... well we'll never know what was going to happen. Byrne and Marvel got into an argument about could and could not be shown in a main stream comic, Marvel won, and Byrne quit mid story. Roy Thomas tried to wrap it all up best he could. Byrne stated in interviews that he had a plan that would have ended the story differently, but never said how. (for the record, it's not Byrne's stories I objected to, it's the walking off over an issue he should have known he wasn't going to win. (Byrne wanted to show Wonder Man in full frontal after being "assaulted" by Wanda, Marvel said No))

The whole twins incident was just kind of not dealt with much over the next decade or so. It was clear Wanda remembered the kids during that time, but the questions about their nature, and any mention of Wanda the reality warper were simply never mentioned. Enter Bendis. It was clear that Bendis really liked the direction JB was headed, and canonized and then some the ideas Byrne had suggested. One of those things is that Mephisto is by nature a liar and a deceiver by trade, and that the fate of the children may not have been as cut and dry. So Wanda's powers start going amok in Disassembled and suddenly these two teenage twins, separated at birth and raised without knowledge of each other or their birth parents are on the scene. Their names are Tommy and Billie and their names were part of an emergency program that Vision 1.1 had developed as a failsafe in case the Avengers needed to be completely restarted. The names on Vision's list supposedly all had connections to the Avengers somehow, even if they weren't fully aware of it. Tommy is a mutant, Billie has great inate mystic potential.

So are they the Twins, recreated and sent back in time to live their lives away from their parents. The boys are in their mid teens, makeing them older than their deceased father. (as the synthoid called Vision, the android Avenger was 11 or 12 years old at most when he was destroyed.) Is Wanda responsible for their resurrection? Wiccan seems to think so. But I suspect that's too easy an answer and the truth is going to be more complicated still.

Damn - maybe i *should* have gotten on board with 'Children's Crusade'.

Thanks for the catch-up, Mirypedia!

Yes, she was called Amazon in the Age of Apocalypse.

Her powers let her loom over the corpse-filled metropolis.

(ok - it's the closest thing i could find that rhymed with Apocalypse).

Not bad! ;)

And thanks Mirymate, that explains things better than I ever could have!

Thanks everyone.

I have managed to finish off Patriot and Kate Bishop recently, to add to the Young Avengers line-up.

Patriot has a mask decal laid over a Sunspot face. He has a slightly modified Cap belt. His chest, the little eagle on his belt and his shoulder stars are decals.

I just need to make Hulkling and Iron Lad now. Unsure whether to use a bulked-up Hulk as the base for Hulking or go with a more basic mate and slipover chest piece. Advice/suggestions welcome!

Thanks for looking!

Love the latest Young Avengers. And I'd definitely do a Big Chest piece over the new bulked-up body. Hulking is big, but he's not huge.

And he is a shape-shifter, so whatever size you use could be considered accurate...

I've been scrolling back through your thread here and man what a impressive collection of work. 1 in particular caught my eye, Speedball, I have no real love of the character but I have to say your custom turned what i would have envisioned as a rather dull minimate into something really fun. The use of the "bamf" base was inspired.

Keep this stuff coming.
