I just received a package the other day with a few more customs, Odysseus and The Mad Hatter.

I'll take group and individual shots in the next week or so and start listing them on eBay. Am I waiting for anyone else other than robomate to mail their custom to me?

Sherlock Holmes is finally complete! I was in the midst of painting a suit but I just wanted to finish the darn thing so I took the easy route and used Professor X's suit and Tony Almeida's head.

I repainted and modified the jacket from The Man in Black so Holmes could raise up his right arm to use his characteristic magnifying glass (thanks for sending me one punisher!). I also modified Chef Duff's baseball cap and created Holmes infamous Deer Stalker cap.

I'm most happy with his display base. The base itself is a modified wall from The Cubes playset and the desk was made from various Cubes pieces as well. Holmes has a ton of accessories for his office including a curio case which has a preserved monkey hand inside of it. The hand is made from a modified Lady Death strike and the case itself is a water cooler from The Cubes with the top of Joker's cane on the top. The rest of the accessories are either unmodified or repainted Minimate accessories.

14 customizers have lent their support to this year's Charitymates project offering up 18 amazing custom Minimates!

As a special "thank you" to the customizers I commisioned Greg Hyland to create an image based on our theme and this is what he came up with:

They will be signed by Greg and numbered out of 25. Each customizer will receive one and I will also send one out with each custom as well. *Edit: I was hoping to have enough to be able to send prints out with the customs sold as well but this might not happen, it'll all depend on how many buyers there are!

I will list them all on eBay as soon as I receive Dinobot's Titania and if no one objects I'd like to use part of the 25% intended for MMMV to pay for Greg's involvement and to cover the cost of shipping to the buyers and to the customizers.

I don't know what's more amazing, that original art, or the turn out on all the customs.

Excellent job everyone!

That image is kind of horror themed for an event that didn't allow any horror-related characters, isn't it?

It's not that "horror-themed" characters weren't allowed, it's that we already covered that territory in a previous project. And Greg is an amazing artist and the first thing that he thought of when I said "characters from literature" was Frankenstein. I think it's awesome.

And speaking of Greg's art, can all the customizers send me their mailing addresses?

But when I wanted to make a Dr.Jekyll and Mr.Hyde minimate, the first thing I thought when I thought "Characters from literature" I was asked to pick something else, since even though I wanted to make a human Hyde he was considered to be "a monster." Now to be fair I was told I could make Hyde if I couldn't think of another character, but Hyde was never added next to my name on the list of customerizers/character choices which sort of implied to me it was never really a welcome idea, it was just hoped I'd pick Hercule Poirot or someone that better fit the theme of 'non-horror-book-characters'.

Basically, It's probably just sour grapes but I just think it's a little odd the customizers were asked to stick to any character outside of horror but the promotional card was allowed free reign and ended up being a scene that better represents "Horror themed minimates" then "let's get kids to read"

That art is very similar to the Bernie Wrightson Frankenstein art....

Found it. Looks like he did an homage with mates:

Attached File  frankenstein.jpg ( 57.56K ) Number of downloads: 41

Only reason I knew this is because I've got an original set of the postcards Wrightson did. Picked 'em up when I was running my store - 16 years ago now - and I had Mr. Wrightson sign them at KC Comic Con way back when. One of the few collectibles I still have from that time of my life.
