Here are some pics of my contribution to Charitymates 3: Queequeg the harpooner from Moby Dick.

Queequeg: As he appears at the beginning of Moby Dick sporting his coat, top hat, shrunken head and of course his harpoon.

Queequeg was made from a repainted minimate body, a Chef Duff head, boots from Captain America, a modified coat from Mad Dog Tannen, an amalgam of Blade and Valkyrie's hairpieces and the Penguin's top hat. All of his tattoos were hand painted. Aye Caramba! The harpoon was a combination plastic shaft, BSG President Roslyn's arrow accessory and milliput. The shrunken head was made from a modified chest plate from a Fist Full of Dollars boxed set and milliput.

Here is my contribution to the Indiemates contest. Super Soldier from the Amalgam Universe.

This Amalgam of Superman and Captain America is a repainted minimate body with repainted Cpt Marvel boots and Superman belt. The hair and mask is a retooled and sculpted Cpt America mask. The shield was made from styrene plastic and a Cpt America shield handle with a computer printed Superman decal added. Enjoy!

Well... my wedding day is nearing (July 31st) and I thought I'd share two rather personal minimate customs I've made for the occassion. Here are the wedding cake toppers I made of my bride to be (Jennifer) and myself (MINI-MYTE). Now these pics were taken from my work bench so please forgive the mess. I will post some more "official" pics of them atop our wedding cake in the days to follow the ceremony. Enjoy for now. Take care.

P.S: I soon hope to be back in the custom game a bit more regularly come August and September.

Hello everybody! Here's how I made my http://www.minimatemultiverse.com/index.php?showtopic=2882&st=160&start=160'>zombie for the MONSTERMATES FOR BLOOD charity. The zombie is just a random repainted minimate body with a few twists added. I didn't want to replicate what DST is doing with their Marvel Zombies (painting wounds and bones on clear plastic pieces). I wanted 3 dimensionality.

So first off, I took a minimate head and put a nice notch in the top-left side of it with a wheel grinder (you can use a dremel tool as an alternative). Then I took another minimate head and (using a scalpel) cut a small (skull) chunk out of the top left side. Using a small piece of milliput placed in the notched head, I set the small (skull) chunk in the gape. This gives the effect that the zombie's scalp has been torn away revealing his skull.

Next I took my dremel tool and carved up the back of a MM torso block. Using a pointed tool tip, I made a channel in which to set his spine. After the channel was sanded and cleaned of burrs, I cut the end piece of one Braniac's tentacles to double as my spinal column. Again using some milliput in the channel, I set the spine in and using some more milliput I painstakingly sculpted a rib cage. That was not a fun day! After the milliput had dried, I randomly sculpted the open wound around the spine and ribs.

Lastly for scuplting, I used my dremel tool yet again on the zombie's right forearm. I carved out a small notch right up until I could see the peg hole from the side. Using the pointed tool again I made small grooves in a sunburst pattern around the notch to give the effect that his arm had been bitten. When the hand piece is placed in the arm, it's own peg acts as an exposed forearm bone. Cool no?

I painted him using a melange of Citadel colors. A lot of watered down paints were used as washes to give his an aged, dirty, rotten and bloody look. His face and body details were hand painted. After I clear coated him with Testors dullcoat, I brushed on some "semi-gloss" finish around the head, back and forearm wounds to give them a more disgusting, gooey look. A nice touch I must say.

I'd love to here some comments from you guys.

Straight from Central city (and the custom villains contest) I present to you one of the Flash's classic rogues... Captain Boomerang!!!

Captain Boomerang

http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a5/mini-myte/capB.jpg'>th_capB.jpghttp://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a5/mini-myte/fight2.jpg'>th_fight2.jpg

The good (or should I say bad) Captain is a repainted minimate body with a modified M. Bison lower tunic, a resculpted Logan hairpiece (w/ milliput sculpted hat), repainted Power Girl gloves and a modified Ronin sash made into CB's trademark scarf. His Boomerang accessories were machined from styrene plastic. There is a total of 52 decal painted boomerangs on his costume. His face was hand painted (twice). This is the better of the 2 faces made. I suspended some extra boomerangs with some wire and Sculpy on the Flash vs Captain Boomerang pic and with the aid of photoshop eliminated the wires and sculpy. Ooooo, looks like magic. Any question?

Constructive critism time.... *waits for the booing!*

Jarvis's face is too big for his head... he looks a bit like like a baby seal.. the eyes seen to be the main culprit... if you use decals try one maybe scaled down between 10 and 25%?

Just a suggestion, I find that having other critique my stuff helps me improve so thought I'd be honest wit you. :)

Otherwise great work, love that Wonderman!

Your work is flawless and your instructional blog on MMHQ was inspiring. Nicely done! I can understand why you pull in the premium pricing on ebay.

Looking at our work I always assumed you used computer generated artwork decals for the faces. They are always so flawless, especially the eyes, how could it be anything but? Do you truly handpaint all your 'mate faces?

Yes I do handpaint all my faces. Even on the odd occassion when I use an existing minimate face, I will repaint the eyes or the lips. None of my work is ever unaltered.

Fujis has asked me to do another article for MMHQ on the finer details of face painting. So stay tuned!
