Punisher
Very excited. More so than any of the three sequels. However, I sense A LOT of CGI.
undeadpool
based on the concept art, the CGI may not be a bad thing
BannersID
so a movie wave means we will see a Groot AND Rocket Raccoon? guess that hope pulls a little bit of sting out of wave
Kostisfire
That means that by 2014 we will have the whole comic version of the GOTG in our hands. I call it now: Bulked up thanos/Adam Nova/gamora Rocket/groot Star lord/drax They could skip the army builders for one wave. Or feature star lord and drax in the tru wave and have rocket and groot with some of the church guys from the first issue of the 2008 series. And we will also get a winter soldier and falcon from cap2:the winter soldier.
MrClean
This has the potential to be a great SyFy channel movie!
MiniFiend UK
Heard about this a week or so ago along with a proposed Human Fly movie (The Stuntman Marvel made a short comic series of.) To be honest I have no interest in modern GOTG I would like to see a movie on the original GOTG but that ain't going to happen I don't think. I just think GOTG is just to far out there for a mainstream cinema audience. I would say that you could show a picture to most ppl and they would go who are they. I can understand the film makers going for it and if its made before the next Avengers flick it would be a good way to introduce Thanos as a villain. Happy for more Marvel at the movies but this one is way down there on my see list for now.
youbastards
I'm excited for this, hoping it's as much 'fun' as this cast of characters looks. Potential is there for a very 'Star Wars' like movie about an ensemble of different characters banding together tonight a common cause. Hawkeye's Junk
I could definitely see this as a kiddie movie. Edited July 15, 2012 by Hawkeye's Junk
stack32
Before Avengers I would have been very skeptical of this, but now I think they might have a chance to pull it off successfully. I am curious to see how they bring the team together since there's been no Annihilation in the movie universe. Maybe a Star-Lord origin story? MisterPL
I can't help thinking that this was a REALLY easy sell to Disney execs. "Really?! It's got a talking animal! We've had some VERY good luck with talking animals! This is gonna be HUGE!" But what's up with the "Based on the Marvel comic book" tagline on this and Ant-Man? None of the other films get that tagline.
Lurch77
But what's up with the "Based on the Marvel comic book" tagline on this and Ant-Man? None of the other films get that tagline. It's the "we're not making this sh@t up" tagline. Majority of kids people knew Hulk, Iron Man, Capt America and Thor even before the movies were made. Now they're getting into the "who are these characters?" phase. I know very little about the GotG characters/background so looking forward to how this movie plays out. Did they offically say that Ant-Man was going to be one of the new movies or was it just a show of the test footage? I could see it squeezing in between GotG & Avengers2. With the lineup as follows: Iron Man 3 - 5/3/13 Thor: The Dark World - 11/8/13 Captain America: The Winter Soldier - 4/4/14 Guardians of the Galaxy - 8/1/14 Ant-Man? - Q1 2015 Avengers 2 - Q2 2015 Or for Avengers round 3 they could return to more earthbound heroes/villains and add in Ant-Man/Wasp & Black Panther as the next round of individual movies. pawcanada
That means that by 2014 we will have the whole comic version of the GOTG in our hands. I call it now: Bulked up thanos/Adam Nova/gamora Rocket/groot Star lord/drax I would love DST FOREVER if they ever did that wave. As GotG was one of my all time favourite Marvel comics of the 00's (along with Nova and Herc) I am truely excited for this film. Plus I picked up Ultimate MvC3 at the weekend and have been maining Rocket Raccoon a lot, making me even more keen to see this film.
Trekker 42
Before Avengers I would have been very skeptical of this, but now I think they might have a chance to pull it off successfully. I am curious to see how they bring the team together since there's been no Annihilation in the movie universe. Maybe a Star-Lord origin story? I actually agree with Minifiend UK. The Guardians won't come together because of the Annihilation Wave but instead it'll be Thanos that brings them together. The reason this'll hit before Avengers 2 is to familiarize us with Thanos. Lurch77
Fox, Marvel talk swap as clock ticks on 'Daredevil' I see this as potential to add Silver Surfer and Galactus to the GotG movie (even if just as cameos or flashback scenes) and ultimately rolled into an Avengers movie. The alternative of getting Daredevil back to Marvel would not be bad either. Would like to see Marvel Knights related movies and would be a good way to introduce Black Panther and Dr Strange; even pull in Punisher. minimadman
If that deal happens Marvel will be making out like a bandit.
Trekker 42
Oh yeah. That WOULD be nice. I kinda want Marvel to get Namor back. He'd be a great thing to throw around for both Cap and the Avengers movies. Mostly for Avengers of course. Anyway I honestly prefer the idea of Marvel just getting Daredevil back. And as much as I LOVE Trank's Chronicle I'd rather see his FF movie made over at Marvel Studios. Not gonna happen of course, but a man can dream ja? undeadpool
if the DD movie works out how Fox is planning it now, it could be amazing, throw in some Mark Waid influence for Matt and you've got the perfect comic book film....now i wouldnt mind Marvel and Fox coming to an agreement to unite their two cinematic universes rather then swap rights.... First class is fox right?
Nessex
This idea of 'getting characters back' to Marvel may not be such a big hurdle, assuming the characters span more than one comic franchise. Joss Whedon made mention at the Avengers Premier that there are some characters that fall under both the X-Men license, as well as the Avengers license (namely the Scarlet Witch & Quicksilver) and he seemed to imply that the characters would be able to be used by both licenses... sky_dive
yeah, now I'm kinda hoping that Disney gets DD or Fox gets The Avengers and the characters, just so DD can be an Avenger
minimadman
According to this article on /Film the role of Star-Lord has been narrowed to either Zachary Levi or Jim Sturgess. Of the two I would prefer Sturgess. I think that Levi is perfectly cast as Fandral and think that Sturgess is the better actor. Given the list of names that they have been throwing around I was really hoping that it would be Joel Edgerton, maybe after Zero Dark Thirty comes out they reconsider. MisterPL
I'd go with Sturgess over Levi if only because I'm tired of all the in-breeding while casting characters for this genre. Chris Evans, Ryan Reynolds, Halle Berry, Ray Stevenson... there's a surprisingly long list of actors who've played more than one comic book character. I can't imagine there's a shortage of qualified performers, just an overabundance of lazy casting directors.
