Shanester
How do you folks that collect Kubricks buy them? Opened/identified, sealed, by the case? I have bought some sealed, mostly for the surprise I guess. Most of my purchases are opened so I can start or complete sets. I've never gotten a secret through buying sealed boxes, but I have gotten a few of the harder to find figures.
maxcarnage
I used to buy them on Ebay. If you look hard enough you can find a good deal. I also bought them opened though, I never trusted the people I was buying from. I also had this idea that they would open them and put back the ones they did not like. I really like buying the 3 packs though, those were awesome, they always seemed to have a great assortment of figures.

THEY are geared up for it,THEY are a club. YOU will not enter this club & undercut. I buy opened/identified as this is the only way to buy them without too much hassle & not get too embittered & cynical about the whole damn business Perhaps the cheapest way to buy the buggers is.... after they are 'hot' &...... only buy a complete set including chases....including all the chases. karamazov80
Well, here is something that I just found out about, and must have: http://toysrevil.blogspot.com/2008/04/indi...olden-idol.html Anybody have a good idea as to better places to pre-order Kubricks? My only experience there was with Youbuynow.com for that Aliens set, and my order was backordered, so I'm not 100% sure on them. . .and I'm cautious about doing this on eBay, but, maybe that's the best way to ensure that you get what you order. I don't see it on BBTS, unfortunately. Any advice?
buttheadsmate
Because of the way Medicom obtains the licenses ,Kubricks are not generally available ,for retail, outside of Japan. Many of the exclusive 'mail-away' items ,for example, can only be purchased from & sent to a Japanese address! K,have no reservations about buying directly from Japanese (or Asian ) ebay merchants ,I have never had a problem & the majority of my Kubricks came directly from Asia. This particular 'Indiana' item is very similar (identical?)to a previously released 'secret 'item, some years ago, from the Kubrick Series 2 ...........Star Wars Series
karamazov80
This particular 'Indiana' item is very similar (identical?)to a previously released 'secret 'item, some years ago, from the Kubrick Series 2 ...........Star Wars Series 2 Thanks for the advice BHM. I'll go ahead and pre-order with someone soon. I saw that variant you mention a while back, but it was ridiculously expensive, so I'm psyched that a newer, more affordable one is coming out. One that comes packed with a bizarre bear/idol, no less! I just bought the Han Solo Kubrick last night. . .and I will probably get the Muppets, a few more Star Wars figures, and that glorious, 11 inch Alien that dockingbay reviewed some day, too. I fear that Minimates may have been an unintended "gateway drug" to these exotic little bastards. Interestingly, well before I got into Minimates, I desperately wanted the Back to the Future Kubricks, but I never got them because the ones I wanted seemed way too expensive at the time. I guess the block figure bug was always inside me, and now it has fully gestated and become a parasite, sucking away my soul (or at least my money, anyway) bit by bit. --edit: apparently BBTS has the Indy Kubricks. I wasn't searching for "Bearbricks" before: http://www.bigbadtoystore.com/bbts/product...amp;mode=retail I like having them play the middle man for my exclusives. BBTS is good. But why this exists, I can not say for certain. . . http://www.bigbadtoystore.com/bbts/product...amp;mode=retail Edited June 2, 2008 by karamazov80
Shanester
BBTS is a good place to find Kubricks, but they don't carry all lines/licenses. ToyTokyo.com is another good place. I usually buy from a few Asian Ebayers. There is one that I can usually ask for an item and he will find it for me, fairly reasonably. karamazov80
I just found this site: http://www.verycoolthings.com/vct/Neo_getp...in&cool=yes and ordered a bunch of blind box Muppet Kubricks. Any of you fellas have experience with them? Their Kubricks prices seem very reasonable in comparison to other places, and they have flat rate shipping of 7 bucks to the U.S. Plus, they have this: http://www.verycoolthings.com/vct/Neo_getp...424&cool=no and all kinds of wacky stuff that you would find in Japanese vending machines. Shanester
Be careful with Verycoolthings.com. If anything arrives broken, they will not replace it. Their customer service sucks. I ordered some display cases from them and one arrived cracked and they wouldn't replace it.

I bought some display cases too and they turned up all scratched and had tape and label goo all over them... I was seriously not impressed!!! T. buttheadsmate
Kubricks in their boxes are pretty resilient, everything will be fine. If only all online-retailers took as much care as AFX

karamazov80
I've got another e-tailer question. Have any of you ordered from "Thumbsatplay.com" before? Well, if anyone is interested. . . http://www.ningyoushi.com/Spider_man_Movie..._p/mk135-d3.htm Sorry to be pedantic but I still haven't seen a 'single' Sandman for sale (by itself) anywhere!! The link Karamazov80 has given is for the basic set minus the chase. I still cannot 'like' the Kubrick Spider-Man(Men?) although the Goblin in this set is excellent. MiniFiend UK
HLJ has a case of Spawn Kubricks for $48 US. Click here I don't usually like kubricks for some reason but I could go for that basic spawn figure. the cape seems to hide some of my dislikes of this figure type. I haven't noticed a stand-alone Sandman either. Do you know the case breakdown for him? I also find it peculiar that they give all their Spidermen the "balloon" heads, but I don't mind it as it does give them a distinctive look. . .and I like that the regular Marvel release has the suction cup on his hand. Of course, the Minimate Spidey blows him out of the water. That Venom is really disturbing, though. I'm not sweating it because I have my... ..requirements....just making the point that it's not always the case(?) that the chases are the only rares!
