Danny
Almost... too easy? I sense some kind of evil trap will befall our Ady now. It always happens in the movies!

Fujis
I like it Ady but I wonder how it would look if it were in the same space as the MMMV/MMC logos - have the domain names off to the left and the banner to the right. And I think you should IP ban whoever voted no. It's nice to get to voice an opinion but obviously that person doesn't realize that you are paying for this site out of your pocket. AdyCarter
Good plan Fujis, Im gonna play around with the placement and such over the next few days to see where it fits best. As for the "no voter" thats their perogitive, I cant find out who it was, and even if I could I wouldnt, the reason I asked was because I want an opinion, heck Im still not 100% on the idea myself.. we'll see what happens, the AA ad is jsut a test and if I cant sort something out like an AFX affiliation I more than likely wont bother, last thing I want is an advery for shoes or such on the site. luke314pi
The banner looks fine to me. I wouldn't mind if it was longer either.
TBT!
Ad looks fine where it is and isn't a bother at all. Nice job Ady Maybe we should IP Ban Fujis for suggesting others get banned for expressing an opinion? T.
Rad
I'm the 'no' voter! The question is 'would you like adverts on this site?' The voting options are yes or no. I voted no because in an ideal world I wouldn't want to see them here. I'm not a fan of adverts they irritate me. However, we don't live in an ideal world and I do realise that Ady's out of pocket for providing us with this forum. I'd like to be in a position to help him with that but that's not where I am right now. So it's a necessary evil but I don't have to like it. Having said that I'll support whatever decision Ady makes.I'm sure he won't be accepting ads for Viagra, or Penis extensions just yet! Just to clarify Fujis, I didn't take offense at what you said. Just wanted to explain my reason for voting no.
Cappy
If approached with reason, ad would be okay. Something across the top, and *relevant* is fine. Some places have rotating ads that apply to the board's subject and I've discovered new online resources using that route. But I never, ever click on pop-ups! Fujis
Just to clarify Fujis, I didn't take offense at what you said. Just wanted to explain my reason for voting no. Thanks for the clarification Rad - and just so I'm clear as well I was kidding about the IP ban. That's why I threw a wink in there. And speaking of advertising (and this is more of an idea to get more traffic which could lead to some $) I have a plan: I was always shocked at the lack of response to polls on the AA forums specifically my last one "Would you buy an Iron-Cow Minimate?" My plan was to show that we could get hundreds of 'yes' votes and convince Matt to look into the project a little more seriously. I figured that would be easy since there were thousands of registered members and based on that I figured there would at least be a couple hundred minimate fans. Well, I was wrong. Now while people might simply be choosing not to respond I think it's because of a lack of numbers. We are an incredibly small group. I was surprised by how few minimate fans there were on the AA forum and now on this forum. There must be thousands of minimate fans in the States alone not to mention the UK and Canada. So how do we get them here? What I propose is that we make a small hand bill consisting of a logo, address, and small blurb of MMMV, MMC, and MMHQ, make it available to members to print out and have them ask their local comic shop owners if they'd be willing to give this little insert to anyone who buys minimates from their store. A grassroots approach but isn't that what we are? What do you guys think?
AdyCarter
Sounds like a plan. One thing I do know is that there ARE a lot of fans out there, and for some reason they were avoiding the AA board, we have at least 10 members that didnt exist on AA. We now have 68 members which isnt bad for ten days. The release of the DCD mates will drive a lot of people our way I think. Now that Im not constantly having a nervous breakdown about our bandwidth Im going to look into pimping this site in a few other places too. The thing to remember with regards to stuff like the IC mate is that there are probably about 250 "minimate" fans in the world, the rest are predominately fans of one or more of the licenses
Shanester
I almost voted no, but only because of the question. NO, I don't like adverts. Would they be a good way to offset costs for this site? Yes, and I will use them every chance I get. Looks good Ady!

INTERNET PROMOTIONAL ITEMS To go along with that, how bout banners (sort of like the civil war ones) of MMMV, MMC & MMHQ to promote it on other sites. MMC & MMHQ have links to a lot of minimate fan sites, why don't all those sites have links/banners to relink back?? Other internet promotional items (icons, banners, etc) would be good too! Wallpapers anyone?
