What did you get?

I got a the Marvel Universe Havok that I have been looking for and a DVD of the British version of The Office. the DVD is region 2 so I can't play it but it's still cool.

You could change your PC over to Region 2 for a short period of time to watch the DVD's.

I think my PC DVD player is all-region. You might give it a shot. British Office is much better than the U.S. version.

I going to have to disagree with you here. I have seen and like the British version but the U.S. version has the most developed characters ever to appear in a sitcom. The Jim/Pam relationship is my favorite on TV. Ever. That said I am not sure how the series survives the departure of Steve Carell.

Having seem both, I'd give the british version the edge, however I'd say they are very different beasts.

The UK version is subtle and uncomfortable, the US is brash and well not so subtle but has gone 6(?) seasons so must be doing something right.

Most developed characters ever to appear in a sitcom? not by a long shot, the first that trounces it that comes to mind is M*A*S*H but I'm sure others will chip in. My All time favourite sitcom... Coupling which failed horribly when they tried to do an american version!

That seems to happen a LOT when sitcoms get transplanted to the US. I once heard a rumour that Absolutely Fabulous had an American pilot made staring Roseanne Bar/Arnold :yucky:

Firstly, totally disagree. Ricky Gervais is funnier than god. Secondly, I tend to find the American version a lot more slapstick, and everybody is a good person deep down, where as the uk characters are spine-tingly awkward. I mean gareths a total creep and will not change. I also find in the uk version, the characters are more self-depreciating. Obviously not consciously. I live in swindon, I went to school with alot of people who went to work at these middle-managed office type places such as nationwide. As a result I can genuinely confirm these people exsist. Have you watched the whole UK series Minimadman?

Also a HUGE thanks to my secret santa, i wouldnt dare dreamed of a full 5-figure mib Zombie set AND mib Zombie daredevil and Giant man. I shall have to stalk Ohio untill I can get to the bottom of this.

Firstly, totally disagree. God is much funnier than Ricky Gervais.

Secondly, if any Santas couldn't get anything sent out on time, please let me know so I can pass on the info.

I loved the UK version & Gervais was brilliant but I have to say that ,for me,he is a one trick pony .

God is far funnier than Gervais & far more likely to smite me if I said otherwise.

Just a thought on the region 2 thing. In germany we got the region 2 code, of course, but I buy a lot of US-dvds, since I usually want to see movies or series in the original version and they are way cheaper than the ones I get here. I watch dvds on my computer and I use the free vcl-player to view them, since this little genius tool works with all region codes. You should give it a try. I mean it's better than not being able to view it, right?

I haven't got involved with this for years but I am pretty sure hacking any DVD player to become multi-region involves the simple input of a code into your remote &/or player. Things may have changed but I don't think so . Here's a link to a UK site that I randomly chose & there just has to be a US equivalent. http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/shopping/dvd-unlock

The only DVD's that I occasionally but regularly have problems with are the supposed Region Free box sets with a predominant Chinese Audio.....the 5:1 is often missing or irritatingly hard to 'default' ,you have to bloody choose it everytime you start a new episode or disc.

OK So Grannyhogs subtle hint didn't work and It's probably partially my fault we went off topic but...

We've gone WAY off topic, lets try and get this back on track shall we? :)

So I got my package today and while I mean no disrespect to all the other Secret Santa's out there, mine is going to be hard to top. Seriously, I'm ashamed of my package after what I got today...

I got (and I kid you not):

5269727919_2ece8ce05f_b.jpg

5269728205_1814d38561_b.jpg

*Star Trek 3" Kirk, Spock, McCoy x 2 and Gorn, all MIB

*Loose Cosmic Spidey

*Loose Wave 1 Hulk

*Loose Rhino

*Loose Ultron

*Loose Batman

*Hand-held Space Intruders game

*A butt-load of candy

*Last but not least, the sweetest Frankenmate ever, Reginald!

I have no idea who to thank yet but I'm on the trail. In the meantime, thank you so much, you went above and beyond and I'm so grateful for all the wonderful Minimate/chocolate goodness you sent my way. Thank you so much Santa!

Now, time to track you down! B)

Also, as an aside, if the member who gets my package figures out who I am, I have a little something extra that will be coming your way!

Hmm...I think my most likely candidates are either jcastick or minimadman. Still trying to dig up enough evidence to know definitively. Santa, if you are neither of those two, forgive my ignorance! I'm still on the hunt, but I have my eye on you two!

I got my Santa gift! It is awesome and I apologize to my Santa I did not make life easy as my want list was fairly general, but as always he was a trooper and knocked it out of the park. Luke as always you are the greatest Santa, not because you were able to give me a gift that is amazing, but perfect for me. Luke customized me an 'X-Man' A.K.A. Nate Grey a mate I know I will never see.

He also sent along a Nut Goodie, 2 Red Cross Mates and the stickers to turn them into ninjas, and a hand drawn Christmas wish. Thanks again Luke you are awesome!

If it would help, I can always post a list of all particpants for those that are stumped. I can do it in spoiler mode for those that don't want to see it if they don't want to. I'm pretty sure not everyone involved has posted in this thread so I know some of you must be completely in the dark.

What does everyone think?
