Hi all,

I am back from my enforced absence and typing this from my new house yay!

During the time I have been gone it feels like there have been so many hot news stories that I have missed out on. I gleaned what I could from MMHQ (awesome job guys!) and this forum, but really felt that I had let the readers of Minimates Central down by not being able to cover any of the exciting news, like Marvel wave 13 released before wave 12 (!!), pics from all the Minimate lines from toy fairs that were linked to heavily and then pulled, plus definitive lineups for Battlestar Galactica wave 1. These are all things that people are interested in and I missed them. Unavoidably, I know, but I still wasn't there when it mattered.

So, given that MMC isn't the only Minimates website out there any more, given that breaking news on this forum happens almost hourly, given that Minimate Headquarters updates every single day with Minimates community news, is there really a place for my news page? They do it better, quicker, and more neatly that I ever can.

Should I just concentrate on the reviews, which I know a lot of people like and trust? Or does my news page simply need a revamp, and if so, what?

As always, your thoughts are most appreciated.

I loves your news page.

For years it was all I used, and while people do check this place and the HQ there is probably a large portion of people that only check the MMC.

Your news pages biggest advantage however was the fact that its all in one place and easy to access. Something neither here nor MMHQ can do, as other posts/articles invariably push the news down.

The only suggestion I could make is perhaps start shifting your site to a web managed CMS system, so you could add news wherever you were, such as on lunch at work or quickly from a net cafe, that or get yourself a Fujis.

Yeah, I have to agree that your news pages are worth keeping.

I'm always going to MMC to check and see what updates are being done there... and even if the news is something that I've read somewhere else, it's good to have everything there on your page (as Ady said) all together and presented. The fact that you link to other sites in your news updates, and the way you summarize everything, is very complimentary to the structure of this community. It's a great hub, if you will. Plus, you sometimes highlight stuff that people may miss if they don't stay on top of the other sites on an hourly basis

Even if you streamlined your site down to just reviews, I would still constantly check it to see what's going on. But I would miss the news sections, for sure.

Without hesitation: YES! MMC is a hub for the community and, as Ady said, collects the news and directs people to where they can get more info if they want. MMC was the first place I found when I started collecting this little buggers and I think it's still the first place that people find when their obsession takes them online. I would hate for MMC to change because you felt the News Page wasn't relevant or needed Danny, on the contrary, I think it is absolutely vital! Keep up the great work!

or get yourself a Fujis.

Okay, why are we even asking this question? :P

I feel the same as everyone. It's the first and main place I've gone too. Sure I visit other sites, but you'd be surprised that you can still miss news. After a while when I took a break from minimates, MMC got me caught up.

I agree, you should continue. Even if the news breaks elsewhere, you're the only website that compiles all of that news in one easy to read place. New BSG pictures? That's in the BSG thread here. New Marvel news? That's in the Marvel thread. But should both hit at the same time, they both appear together in the MMC news page. Plus, the news stays on top on your site, whereas here and at the HQ, it can easily be bumped by a Speed Racer gripe thread or a story about control art for Pacman minimates.

Just wanted to say that I think your site is great, and I hope you keep up the news pages. Any way to publicize minimates is good for AA and therefore is good for collectors like us. Also, I wanted to thank you for your reviews pages. I just got a large loose collection of 'mates, and your site really helped me sort out what accessories go with what figs. Thanks man!

Please keep your News section Danny. For all of the reasons above, PLUS the fact that you are ranked NUMBER 1 on Google for Minimates!

People will always check out your site first and even news that is days old will still be useful for the general population. I still check it often!

Oh, and get yourself a Fujis!

:D

Thanks for the feedback from everyone. It seems a bit of a no-brainer to continue as I have been.

It's always incredibly cool to see so many positive comments, as when I posted the question I was very down - stress obver the house move, sleepless nights etc. My real life is still very hectic (again due to the move) but I will be trying to add reviews when I can.

Thanks all, I appreciate it :)
