Bandai's S.H. Figuarts

Recommended Posts

Mods please delete this if you feel like it is far to similar to the Figma thread.

I felt like we needed a separate thread for all of Bandai's S.H. Figuarts, Figuarts Zero, Monsterarts and D-Arts figures, instead of continuing to hijack the Figma thread.

So yeah besides Minimates, S.H. Figuarts is my favorite toyline, and I am so happy that the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers and Sailor Moon sublines being released domestically.

I purchased the Mighty Morphin Green and Red Rangers to get the optional Akibaranger "Powerful Ranger" pieces, and I just found Sailor Moon at Frank and Sons. I am so beyond happy at the moment.

I really like the included display stand and Luna is painted really well.

I honestly don't know how I could be so obsessed with two lines of figures of which I own none of (power rangers and sailor moon) but I'm ordering the Red Ranger and Sailor Moon from Amazon towards the end of this week. I'm eventually getting everything they have to offer except for the armored Red Ranger and the price is only a little bit of an issue. They are spread out enough to where I'll eventually only be spending about $45 a month after my initial splurge on what's out already, and at the end of it I will have two collections of my favorite childhood characters that are absolutely fantastic. I am DYING for Sailor Moon and I know as soon as I have her I am going to be crazy impatient for the rest of the senshi, especially Venus.

Can you post some size comparisons for Sailor Moon and The Rangers? I know they are smaller, but id like to see them next to minimates and female Marvel Legends since I dont own alot of the figs ive seen them compared to.

I will take a comparison of Sailor Moon and Minimates, the rangers are at my folks home (at the other end of the state) and I don't have any Marvel Legends. Here is an image I found though of the Green Ranger, NECA Dutch and some ML Iron Men.

I've got a question, and I'm honestly not trying to insult or troll, I just don't know--was Sailor Moon not a show targeting young girls? Sort of like a Jem or She-Ra for Asian girls? Why the popularity with older male collectors? Is it like the My Little Pony thing TM2 talked about, where it's supposedly funny and tongue-in-cheek?

Sailor Moon was edited in the States to mainly appeal to young girls, but in Japan it was aimed at teenagers of both genders.

While it was aimed at girls in the states it was/is incredibly popular in anime fandom, and is looked at as a classic title now, and a lot of the hype could be due to the nostalgia factor, plus every Anime convention in the past 20 years have had at least one Sailor Moon cosplayer, and Sailor Moon has been referenced and spoofed in so many other titles so the majority of anime fans have some connection to it.

I personally grew up watching Sailor Moon, saw it for the first time in 95/96, was obsessed with it by the time Cartoon Network started airing it, read the manga when it was in Mixx Magazine, and bought all the volumes from TokyoPop, had the toys from Irwin. Bought all the Kodansha rereleases this past year as well.

I guess to some people it could be like Brony fandom, for me its a nostalgia thing and also the fact that the figures are incredible, if you've seen past SM toys they are pretty bad.

Sailor outfits, mini skirts, color coding, crazy light show sequences, a variety of different shoes.......I'm pretty sure I still enjoy all of the same things that the little girls who it was intended for did. Its a girly show buts its f-ing glamorous, teaches you morality in a way that is much more entertaining than The Bible, and the voice acting just makes me laugh. Love that Serena is such a f*** up and gets horrible grades, is always late and has an extremely loose grasp on her emotions. Never cared for all the romance but I guess it served its purpose.

Haha, I love that so much. That's why I used it. XD

For me Sailor Moon is pure nostalgia. I used to watch it with my litter sister way back when. it's not particularly good, the story isn't great and the animation is questionable at times. But its over all premise is great, and that combined with nostalgia is enough to hold me.

MLP was surprisingly great and hooked me. But no one doubts that the current fandom is a fad. if they do, they're idiots.

New photos of Mars. Something looks off about the yelling face and I think even though there are things that are better about this figure than Moon or Mercury (her color scheme, the heels, the articulated hair) it is the weakest entry so far and is lacking some of the charm the previous two had. Still can't wait.

When I get a job this is the first item I want to buy, the Machine Itasha/Itasha Robo, it is so glorious, so expensively cheap, so amazing.

Very colorful. But pretty primitive looking from a transformation POV vs. some of what Takara has put out over the last, oh, decade or so. He's like a less evolved Alternators figure.
